Hello Maria! Thank you a lot for this warm up! In my ballet class, I was always so quiet and nobody was taking me seriously. I have passion for ballet so I'm gonna do it every single summers day and your stretches! I'm gonna update! Day 1: It was very difficult and I have to develop strength Day 2: It was tiring today too but better I'm going to reveal the final results. I lost 5 pounds, did the middle splits and both legs splits and I developed more strength! Thank you so much!!
@russianballet6813 жыл бұрын
Take it easy though. Depending on your physic you may want to reduce the number of repetitions . just remember all exercises should feel manageable, and not exhausting. Good luck with your ballet training, I'm sure you're a beautiful dancer.

The warm-up you suggested is inspiring. In fact, I SWEATED while performing my own version of it. However, you look very thin, and your extreme control over your legs, which makes them look like arms, is eerie. Please make sure that your performance is both enjoyable and healthy.

Bit funny, the first two stretches are ones I do at times myself. I’m not a dancer… I do however have hypermobility due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome so for me to feel the stretch, I tend to need to go further than “normal” people. The first stretch was one I started doing at times when I was like 11 and went to some aerobic type workouts and felt the stretch the instructor showed just didn’t do anything for me so I just folded in half while sitting with my feet together. The second stretch is how I sometimes sit on a couch to just chill 😅 I have really poor ability to bend forward with straight legs however. Most likely due to my hamstrings being slightly shortened due to Scheuermann’s disease (orthopedic condition of the spine where deformation of vertebrae causes kyphosis. I have a wedge shaped T11) and possible tethered cord, the latter being not uncommon in EDS patients. I’m 37 now and can no longer do splits, but I used to be able to do almost full splits when younger, with very little stretching to get there. Even at age 25 I was only an inch or two away from a full split. Some people say I have one heck of a turnout for someone who’s never danced. I wanted to at least try ballet when I grew up but unfortunately there wasn’t any studio in my town and dad was working different shifts (morning one week, evening the next) and mum doesn’t drive and there wasn’t many buses to and from my town at the time so I just couldn’t take dance classes. These days my town has a lot better public transportation to other towns and cities and there’s even a small dance studio here now, unsure about them doing ballet though even though there’s a pair of pointe shoes on display in the window. Kinda sad I never got to try ballet when I was young and not as heavily affected by my EDS, but at the same time, maybe the lack of stretching has saved my joints some, and probably a good thing I’ve never done pointe work because I’d probably break shoes like there’s no tomorrow (flexible feet and ankles, I have quite the arch if I point my feet)

I wish you all of the best. EDS is not easy and you sound very positive. Keep it up. God bless.

Dear Maria Thank you very much for Your great videos. The excercises are so counterintuittive But avhieve a more profound and deeper effect than the regular excercises. I wanted to say That you would be such a formidable force at the American ballet company. Well Or a very unique royal ballerina in london. Of course Its marvelous to see you at the Marrinski. But I am sure you Will make the Russian ballet system international. Would you say Why it is the Black color you wear. If you would wear White more often it would be easier to follow Your system of movement because White frees the heart like a rebirth. Thank you. Very innovative and unique.
