The actual sims team, aka the people who make the games and write the code, have no say at all in marketing or executive decisions. And no, they don't play their own packs because that's not part of the workload of a programmer or 3d-modeller, that would require an entire group of PAYED playtesters, and the decision to have that is probably also mostly out of their hands. I wouldn't say that the sims team is innocent in this, but I can say with quite some confidence that the main issue here is likely higher ups and EA people. Most games would be buggy messes if they didn't get enough time to be polished, and the actual devs usually don't have the power to make those choices regardless of what game we're talking about. I just don't think it's right to be angry at the actual sims team and devs who are likely just as disappointed as us about having to release this pack in this state. Boycotting EA is a great idea, and critiquing EA AND how the sims packs are turning out is also MUCH needed, but don't be angry with passionate game devs or expect them to playtest their own stuff when they're probably already working overtime, you get me?

It was shown to be broken during the gameplay livestream, broken during EA Game Changers play testing and broken upon release, even after pushing back the release date (although that was a whole other issue). i was thinking the same thing! i don’t understand why they gave wedding cakes a different expiration rate when every other cake in the game expires at the same rate. if anything they should’ve made wedding cakes last longer, since people are more likely to send their sims to a venue (where cakes have to be in the inventory) for a wedding than they are for a birthday party.

Honestly i feel this cause the base game is broken on a core level like I'm an indie game dev and in my game I fucked up how the player character interacts with the ground.... so now all the platforming is broken, and I tried to program the envirnoments to tailor to this shitty core programming I did when I first started. The only way I will fix this issue is to go right down to the character and fix that inherent issue, which will also require reprogramming the spaghetti coding I did to try and get things to work before I realised the deeper issue. The sims 4 has this exact problem but unlike a 1 person indie game where it can be fixed it's just a bit of a ballache and I'll do it just...tomorrow.... it's on such a huge scale that they just can't fix the base issue (which in their case is literally the hard coding of the core gameplay) TL;DR: this is what happens when you turn your mobile game into a franchise. And they can't "fix the base game" because everything programmed after that is tailored to the programming of the base game. It's a case of they just need to start over tbh.

Exactly. It's not the pack itself. It's the inherent queuing and prioritizing of actions mixed with npcs that have 'autonomy'. It's the very core of what the Sims is, and every expansion or update has been built around this one, glitchy aspect. To truly 'fix' it would require a full reset. I know there are some good hearted developers at EA who actually do care about delivering a quality game, but at this point I don't think anything is salvageable until they move onto the Sims 5 and (HOPEFULLY) completely overhaul their game design.

Yep. When I watched Jesse’s Project Olympus video it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. There’s a reason they spend so much time on build and buy and CAS. Those are parts of the game that are fully built out. All of the complex actions the sims perform aren’t. Could it be the bridge between the two coding languages that causes problems with queuing actions? It seems to me like the message doesn’t get to the system to do an action in time or gets overridden by another action and that causes these bugs.

I made a wedding party just once, in a Sims 2, in a Goth mansion, spouses were Mortimer Goth and Kaylynn Langerak (long story). Invited guests were Cassandra Goth, all Dreamer and Newson families. I wish I could say I was surprised, that I never thought EA would do this to paying customers, but I can't. I hate how the glitches in Sims 3 are always brought up by die hard TS4 fans and how 'smooth' TS4 allegedly runs on lower-end computers, when they absolutely fail to realize that most bugs/glitches were due to the sheer amount of gameplay that came with each new EP in TS3 and how there are still many many bugs in TS4 that have not been fixed for years (Dine Out comes to mind, among others), rendering many of the few features completely broken and useless. This release is absolutely inexcusable.

Three types of parties that are actually just the same thing and a micro-management wedding without drama or consequences. Simmers don't play like this! We make stories, yes (but this needs proper reactions otherwise it falls completely flat), but we are also looking for progress oriented gameplay: collectibles, careers, skills with rewards... Which is exactly what the sims 3 offered. Hours and hours of things to explore What can you do with this pack, even if it did work? The main draw of the sims 4 was that it would be a less buggy and more optimized game. But I'd much rather wait for several minutes one time when booting up the sims 3 and be done with loading screens than to have to sit through dozens of smaller loading screens in the sims 4. I also prefer the lagginess of sims 3 to the bugginess of sims 4.

there's soo much wrong with this pack that it'd be laughable if it wasn't so upsetting. the thing that makes the least sense to me is the cake shelf life--such a small thing, but why would you make them expire so quickly when the actual wedding event itself can last a whole day? like irl people will save the top layer of a wedding cake and freeze it to eat on their first anniversary--these cakes aren't meant to go bad within a day lmao it's also frustrating to see all these game changers being super excited for something and having to grapple with their disappointment. i'm glad that all the vids i've watched so far have been very honest, but it's unfair for them to put gc's in this position imo

It's not the pack itself that's broken, it's the entire core game. The inherent queuing and prioritizing of actions, mixed with npcs that have 'autonomy', is the very core of what the Sims is, and every expansion or update has been built around this one, glitchy aspect. To truly 'fix' it would require a full reset. I know there are some good hearted developers at EA who actually do care about delivering a quality game, but at this point, we need to accept that the Sims 4 simply won't ever get better, and every time they jam more and more content into the game it just exacerbates the problem. The only hope is if they massively overhaul everything and start from scratch with the Sims 5, but I'm doubtful.

I’ve really given up on the Sims 4 at this point. Fundamentally, at its core, the base is broken. I love CAS and Build & Buy is the best it’s ever been but everything else is so broken. I shouldn’t have to rely on mods and the community to both make the game fun and fix a massive corporations numerous mistakes. I thought we were finally getting somewhere with the Cottage Living expansion pack. It’s insulting to the player base that they keep expecting us to buy broken, glitchy dlc to try to “fix” the lack of content in its base. And it’s still not enough! It’s re-used animations, oversized cartoonish objects and lack of depth to any sort of gameplay. I’m feeling so frustrated cause I love this franchise and have been playing for over a decade. I’ve played every iteration. I know they’re better than this. And if the multiplayer rumors are true - which is why the Sims 4 at its core is so fundamentally broken cause they tried and scrapped it - I have no hope for the Sims 5 or future of the franchise. It’s just a spit in the face.

0:45 There's another broken CAS asset and one with a minor glitch. And that is the hairs used on Camille and Dominique. Dominique's hair has some seams on the True black swatch, but thankfully it's not that noticeable unless you're in detail edit mode and pay close attention to the lower portion of the fro near the neck. As for Camille's hair, that hair is probably the most broken asset of the game. If you create a sim with a short face or narrow face using some of the premade faces presets while using this hair (for example, Babs L'amour's face preset or the Default Female sim face preset), the hair ends up having this invisible/flesh-colored gap on both sides of the neck. Also, if you pay attention to the bang area, if you move the eyebrows too far down or too close together, the textures stretch/create a gap underneath. Thankfully that issue is only noticeable from the side view in detail edit mode. EDIT: The seam on Dominique's hair is less noticeable if you have a dark skin sim, but if your sim is light skin, it's there. My guess is the skin texture is bleeding over for some reason. (for those that can't see it, use the hair on the lightest skin tone, so it's more apparent.) Sigh... EDIT 2: Dominique's hair is also improperly rigged. When making a sim with a wide head the hair causes the neck to break at the left side. (Itsmetroi captured the rigging issue with Dominique's hair in her 'My Wedding Stories Review' video around the 2:16 mark, and Deligracy captures that same error in her 'Let's talk about The Sims 4 Wedding Stories' video around the 2:08 ish mark. Not only is the gameplay broken, so are the assets. Please keep this in mind before purchasing this pack.) Edit 3: another issue I've found is the veiled hairs sometimes disappear In-game making your sim bald at the wedding lol.

I wish that Sims who had either a high romantic relationship or a negative romantic relationship who came to the wedding would have about 10-15 % chance of objecting (bonus if hotheaded or mean Sims had a higher chance), maybe plain old enemies would have a 1% chance and if your played sim had any sort of romantic relationship and you were invited to their wedding you'd get the option too. Also I wish you had the chance to choose all the order of cerimony and where everyone sat/stood at the practice and then at the wedding everything went how you said with you just clicking get married (unless someone objected) you know everyone just goes down the Eisle in the order you choose stands where you choose you get married, then everyone celebrates maybe the vowels could be a bit different depending on how high the bride and grooms relationship is. The guests in this imaginary pack would all be sitting and watching reacting differently depending on how their relationships with the bride and groom are maybe a jilted lover in the pew could bawl their eyes out if they didn't object, friends could smile, unflirty Sims could be discomforted and smile awkwardly, parents could cry happy tears, enemies could talk over the ceremony and that would make the wedding Sims annoyed but not stop getting married. Basically I wanted it to be able to be easier weddings with more sweetness and more possible drama. That's what I hoped for from a whole game pack focused on one small event

It's tough, because it makes sense that someone who was super excited for this would still want to buy the pack (same for the people who love the B&B and CAS), but I really just wish everyone would boycott... Simply because we never do, we always complain, we always ask "why" or "how" they can push out packs THIS broken, trying to justify it in our heads, "Did they not check, did they not notice??" but we know they did. The same way they know we'll still buy it. I felt like an absolute pessimist when everyone seemed excited about the pack and all I could think about looking at the trailer was all the ways in which they'd probably screw up each aspect of it. I expected it to be a lot more shallow than the possibilities most people were discussing, but even I didn't expect it to be this shallow, this much of a chore, or quite frankly, this broken. It's already an outrage that one of the things people were happily joking about was the fact we'd finally have the guests sit through the ceremony, already an outrage that we'd have to pay for something like that, but in the end that's broken too. Why would you need this pack, in terms of gameplay, in its current state (or frankly, at all, but that's just my opinion, it doesn't add much depth to weddings)? You can throw parties with similar objectives, some of the main animations are still broken, the objectives that are unique to the pack are soulless and don't work properly (all the toasts I've seen are just the saddest thing)... Does having a sim of honour unlock special interactions with that sim? Probably not, since there aren't any "getting ready for the wedding" interactions and the bach parties are just regular parties renamed. Can you even have the sim's parent walk them down the aisle? I haven't seen anyone do it, so I'm assuming it's not even a thing. It's just not worth the money, and honestly, if not for the world, I'm not sure it would even be worth half of its price. If the B&B and the CAS were gonna be the selling points, it should've just been a stuff pack.

That lot you tested on has two arches, so I'm betting the people who didn't sit down by the arch you were at were sitting by the other arch. That's annoying, but not really surprising and down to the lot design. Also, cake has to be placed on a table, then clicked on and you have the option to add as wedding cake. about the wedding cakes: from what I have tried, you need first to plan the wedding in the calendar and then you are allowed to set the cake as the wedding cake from your inventory. After that the cake will have a longer shelve life. What happened to me though is that the cake then disappeared from the inventory! this pack is a mess....

I found out trying this that part of the problem with sims wandering off is that the default wedding venue has two arches and two aisles! so the guests get split between the two because they're not smart enough to know which section of seats to sit at. That doesn't fix the initial sitting command being top priority over your given commands, but it definitely made a huge difference once I deleted part of the venue... The dance floor was also placed somewhere with no music, so you can't get the dance objective 😅

English Simmer figured out that the big wedding venue, with it having 2 sets of wedding seats and arch, interfered with each other. She got it to work even in the early access version by removing one of the sets.

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that EA, yes EA, manages to get away with releasing broken content? Plum is right by saying this feels superficial. The game play is shallow and bugged and players are supposed to pay full price for that kind of content. It just feels...lazy, ya know? After waiting through the release of what feels like dozens of kits, this is a major let down. (The only positive is the nice looking world with a good amount of lots).

I feel like maybe they should have to systems for the pack, a manual wedding where you do it yourself, and then like an automatic wedding and here it kinda just like a cinematicish wedding that you just watch
