2F2F is actually my 2nd favorite movie from the franchise. I thought the race scenes in this movie is peak Fast and Furious. The fact that Dom wasn't in this didn't bother me. I think the only reason it bothers yall is because you knew coming into this series that Dom is "the main guy". But that wasn't always the case. Brian was actually the main guy, but that role slowly went to Dom over time, and especially after Paul passed.

Same, these races are my favorites and most varied from the franchise, everything from circuit, sprint, pink slips, chases. I remember watching it in theaters, my heart was racing in a few scenes, no other F&F movie has been able to even match that. Also Tyrese is legitimately funny in this one, before they turned him into a clown

Rome hates Brian because they grew up together, and when they were teenagers they would boost cars and joyride, but when Brian got busted he turned his life around. The main reason why Vin Diesel was not in this was he wasn’t doing sequels at this time. He later rejoined the series after Universal made a deal with him on some ownership rights to this series and the Riddick character from Pitch Black movie. The car scramble scene was a copy of the car scramble scene from a movie from the 80’s called Catch Me If You Can. Not to be confused with the Leodinardo and Tom Hank’s movie with the same name.

Fun fact: When Brian slid his car at the start, that was him doing his own stunt. Also, the type of car he drives in this series of movies is usually some kind of JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car, which you guys will learn quite a bit about in the next one, which he isn't in hahaha. The car in the first movie was a Mitsubishi Eclipse that got blown up, and the replacement is another JDM classic, the Supra. Paul lived cars inside and outside of the movies, I would highly suggest looking into some of the car collection he had, and the lengths he went to respecting the culture etc...

Cole Hauser as the main antagonist in this movie I think is what actually made it so good. From “Dazed and Confused” to playing Rip in “Yellowstone” (a series you REALLY need to make content for) he became a really really intimidating type personality on screen right after he did “Pitch Black” with Vin Diesel. I'm glad you guys are giving this series a chance. Personally, the third movie, The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift, is definitely my favorite movie in the Fast and Furious franchise. Mainly because I used to live in Japan before when my mom was in the Air Force. Twice actually. First time I live in Japan was 1 year old so I don't remember lol. But the second time I live in Japan I was 15 in my sophomore year. And man living in Japan was one of the best years of my life. I may very well be inaccurate, but I believe that gun that shot Brian's Skyline was a localised EMP clamp. It attaches to a vehicle and disables all of its electronics. Instead of a large radial pulse it remains localised to its target. At least that's what I'm assuming. It seems to explain the electrical failure of Brian's car.

Saw 2F 2F in theatres on opening night. I watched again on the DVD, rented it from blockbuster. In the special features, there was a short film called "The Turbo-Charged Prelude". A catch-up story about Brian going rogue after F1. For this one, I did like the new characters, friends and villians. Tej (Luda) and Roman (Ty) were nice additions. Especially Roman with his snarky, anger and funny demeanor. A cooler blend of tones. The 'buddy action' thing was a nice touch. The driving was still on point (as always). The post-credit sequence was fun cause it looked like a video game. Soon after that, Fast and Furious games were coming out. Paul Walker & Tyrese did indeed become the best of friends over time. In the course of 5 films, you could see it and that was a beautiful thing. The late, great John Singleton made all kinds of movies for 20 years. Rarely is he mentioned when talking about The Fast Saga. Because he made a movie that was a good 'first' sequel and it would lead to bigger things.

I wouldn't call them rough - the OG trilogy is focused on racing sub culture with each movie being loosely connected with the others. The rest are Marvel-esque universum movies with cars in them. These 2 eras target two completly different audiences

I’m enjoying these reactions more because of Holden’s laughter at the ridiculousness 😂

People always talk about how crazy the movies got but they always had the makings of what they became. Look at the electric grappling hooks in this movie, heists on moving trucks in the first one. Jumping a car from land to ship.

the main reason why Vin and Michele wasnt back for this movie was because of contracts they were already part of for other movie projects. it was all about timing. Vin had his first 2 Riddick movies going around that time and Michele had Resident Evil, Blue Crush and SWAT all going on at the same time tht this movie was being made and edited.

As the movies go on, it is more and more worthwhile to suspend disbelief and just watch them to enjoy them. As ridiculous as they become, they are still enjoyable with the right mindset. Can't wait to see your take on the rest of them!
