People like this movie the most because it’s the most grounded. The racing and stunts are all realistic and doable. Sean is a fish out of water and his struggle to learn drifting compared to American drag racing is a foil to his struggles adjusting to the Japanese culture. It also helps that the cars are done more tastefully and don’t look as cringy as the cars in the first two movies.

For Fast and the Furious, you can watch them in release order if you want. The only one that's out of place, is this movie. And the only reason it's out of place is because they retconned some stuff later down the line. If you watch this one later, that's fine. If you watch it now, it's also fine. They'll explain later why it's out of order and catch you up with a flashback. It'll be explained later.

At the time this was made a Anime called Initial D, which is the story of a young man becoming a drifting legend driving on the mountain tracks of Japan, was very popular. This anime and a Japanese video series called "Best Motoring" and its offshoot "Hot Version" featured so called "Touge", where they raced tuned cars on mountain courses, using drifting techniques. One of the main people featured on those videos is the real Drift King, Keiichi Tsuchiya, who popularized drifting during his racing career. He's also in this movie as the fisherman who is commenting on Bama boys drifting skills. KT was also a technical consultant both on Initial D and this movie. So after the first two movies tried to capitalize on the street racing scene, this movie basically did the same thing for the burgeoning drifting scene. Of course after this drifting became an even bigger phenomenon in the US.

This is most peoples favorite because of drifting itself. As other comments have said the figherman in blue at the docs was the OG real life drift king. Drift was invented and popularized in Japan with people drifting down Japans Touges. There is even an anime that got extremely popular after Keiichi Tsuchiya's (fisherman in blue) and is now a very watched sport. Honestly you guys are obviously not into cars, but as a car guy the scene where the girl is drifting with sean down the touge what she says it feels like is what I and i know all my car friends feel like when driving, free.

I think the reason why Tokyo Drfit is some people's favorites is because it takes place between the 6th and 7th movie. You'll have to wait and see what happens in those movies in order to appreciate some aspects of the 3rd movie.

For the first few movies, if you watched them during their releases, NO ONE was bothered by the cast change because a "main cast" wasn't established yet. So it makes sense that this is some people's favorites, because they didn't watch Tokyo Drift thinking "I wish the main cast was here", because there was no main cast at this point. Starting at the 4th movie is when the characters start to become constant. Btw, if you're surprised by all the F&F fans not being bothered by yall's reactions, it's because we, ourselves, do not take the movies seriously. So we're not offended if you goof on it. We do too, despite loving the franchise.

This was such a fun movie for me cause at the time I first saw it, I was into the Initial D anime. Btw, I love how Jen rocked that Scarlet Wotxh headpiece upside down. Keep up the great work, you guys. Always love watching your content.
