It’s worth noting that while olanzapine blocks serotonin and dopamine receptors it also blocks histamine, adrenergic, muscarinic and sigma receptors. Thus olanzapine is a multi-receptor antagonist, affecting around 15 different specific receptor sites. This is why it is so difficult for the brain to readjust after quitting. I’m currently in withdrawal. Thanks for the videos. This drug needs to be exposed.

Be glad to. I’m now two weeks off 5mg olanzapine. I’m luckily able to get some sleep using Benadryl and several supplements (valerian, theanine, magnesium threonate, taurine, melatonin) otherwise I wouldn’t sleep. I have all day anxiety for which I’m using clonazepam to control. Motivation is pretty much non existent and I’m depressed and hopeless. I have mild nausea and little appetite. I’ve only lost a few pounds despite my daily calorie intake being less than 1000. Still nowhere near losing the 30lbs I put on from olanzapine. I’m constantly irritable and can’t relax but clonazepam is helping with that. However doctors here won’t prescribe that long term so I only have that luxury for the next month. Hopefully my brain will recalibrate some more in a months time. Will keep you posted.

Do you know of any natural alternatives to olanzapine? Thank you for your insite

I haven't experimented with any natural alternatives, but I can honestly say that discontinuing Olanzapine was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Im on 20 mgs of this medication. Im nervous about all the things i have heard about it. My psychiatrist doesnt want me off of it due to the severity of my illness when i dont take it. Im not sure what to do. I have been on this med at this dose for many yrs.

Thanks for your comment, @leslietisdial5753. 20mg is a high dose. It would be best to discuss any changes re Olanzapine with your psychiatrist, they are best suited to discuss your concerns 💊. Let me know how you get on!

@@JohnORourke. ok I will. I got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and I found out that this med can be linked to sleep apnea. I also had a 50 pound weight gain in 1 yr. I lost all of it but I have to be on a strict diet to keep from gaining it all back.

I'm sorry to hear about the weight you gained, and congratulations on losing it all. In my second video, I discuss how Olanzapine might have caused sleep apnea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKWkeoKErcxnoac Timestamp: 2.31 to 3.45 💊.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, what's your doctor saying? 💊

@@JohnORourke. he suggests to quit slowly,by taking 5 mg and then 2.5 mg and then to stop, but I wish to quit immediately, because we Muslims as you may know have obligation to pray 5 times a day and zyprexa prevents me from praying,I just want to rest and sleep, and I don't have time to quit slowly because I miss prayer very much

Tapered down from 15mg to 2,5mg and skipped dose for two nights. First night i slept 5hours, last nitht i slept 3hours. Interesting is that anxiety didn’t lasted all night but racing thougts was main reason i couldnt sleep. I think i am going to take 2,5mg dose until i sleep at least 6hours then reduce to 1.25mg

@catmando268. I can attest to that. The human brain was simply not designed for Zyprexa withdrawal 💊.
