i think the reason why a lot of people chime in to give you advice is because the person that is writing something in the comments , is trying to help you, and show you from there perspective how they do it. i dont think it malicious. that is at least the reason why i leave constructive criticism. peace be with you my friend, and warmer weather

Aw, Billy, Sweetie, and I found you through Scott, Essential Craftsman. Our first pickup as newlyweds was a 1970 Ford 250. We thought we were in hog heaven. We burned only wood for heat for 20 years, 11 cords a year. We laughed with great memories when you showed your PU bed has broken from the load. Sweetie said, been there! What great memories of our youth. Real memories of real life. Nothing better than real, Billy. Sweetie loves his saws, too, but cuts less now. Bless your journey and keep having fun. Thank you for the reminder to be kind.

No kidding this is my fav BBR video all-time. Love the truck, love the repair job, love the attitude. Some choice quotes - "It is a woodshed for crying out loud!". Meaning - don't bring out the level. Don't get to serious. Also - "I handle my firewood a lot and I don't care." Meaning - that's how I do it. I'm not here to be 'efficient'. This is my personal life. Also - not a direct quote but, "KZbin is a lot of, or mostly is, people insisting on doing things one way. HAS IT DAWNED ON ANYONE TO JUST ENJOY THEMSELVES?" Right on, Brother!!

@TinManKustoms2 жыл бұрын
Man I love this channel. Brings back a lot of good times preparing firewood for the winter season. I can remember going for walks into the bush with chainsaw in hand and a axe strapped to my back and whenever we'd find a tree that was down or a spot that needed some thinning we'd cut up the tree split it right there and stack it up to start drying put a cow ear tag with date it was cut. Later on when we needed to fill the wood sheds we'd go gather up the random wood piles. Great times. I was taught to always keep a bush so it could grow and survive and provide for no only humans but the animals too.
@ryangamble33512 жыл бұрын
Buckin, you've got the right idea with setting the post on top of a block....but the one you've set the post into is only going to hold moisture around the post and help the rotting process...just trying to give insight, as here in Michigan...we quit cementing in the post on pole barns because of this particular issue. Hope this helps you out, have a blessed day!

30+ years ago my grandfather and I harvested a bunch of hemlock poles (from trees damaged in an ice storm) for me to build a woodshed (that looks a whole lot like yours). He had me put the corner post ends in a bucket of tar for about a week before I built it. I'm still using that shed today.

Buckins’ amazing welded Jack! Seats axes 🪓, lifts woodsheds, gets your truck out the ditch and probably hundreds more uses 😀. I built a woodshed and used angle iron brackets (2 holes drilled in top and bottom) to secure the 4x4 beams. Unconventional, but strong as an ox ... 8 ft x 8ft by 104in back and 96in in front (taper for metal roof so rain will wash away) - holds right around 10face cord 😎 ... It’s about 35degrees here in wny , time to test out these 044s I’ve been building and split some wood. Cabin fever 🥵 begone !!!

I have a light 2 1/2 pound Elwell axe to split my wood here in the UK. I have a bad back also and a light axe on a 36 inch handle gives you speed to split very large knotty rounds. Enjoyed watching you all at work/life many thanks. I have a Spearwell axe to rehandle as its been fitted crooked and only on a 28 inch handle. I will use what I have seen you do again.

Thank you for sharing Buckin! 👍 I have people tell me how to get firewood all the time or how it "could be" more efficient... I still do it my own way as I always have because for me it's about the exercise I get from it and time spent observing nature. If I was to just load everything with a skidsteer or have the baddest log splitter I surely would not get out of it what I enjoy about it. Despite handling the firewood multiple times, that is what I love. I think the woodshed is more than fine and you did a nice job on it, after all... It's still better than a tarp. The old school method always draws my attention, so keep doing what you do!👏

Buckin’ when you fix the back of the truck, use angle iron across the bed, and up the verticals, then use round stock for gussets, but don’t fully weld the base of gusset, leave a few weep holes. If you can, a close “grab bar gusset” also works well, and gives you a handle for climbing in!

Hey Buckin glad to see your into the repair mode,been there on my 26 year old hand made shed,was going to mention if you burn the ends that go in the ground they will last much longer. If I were you and the great job you did on the posts with the knoches I would replace them with the same. Plus leave the support uprights alongside,super tough ,way strong looks like a logger thing. Power saws have always been my skill saw. But concerning your measuring on p/u truck cord of wood thing,easy peasy,leave the .5 off ,4x8 equal 32 times 4 equals 128 ft in a cord. I know you know this. So your 4 x 4 x8 equals the bed of my truck = 1 cord plus extras
