Look at how beautiful they are. Every bird has its own unique features of splendid colors and patterns. No man or arbitrary process could design such natural beauty. God made these birds.
@davidl.53354 жыл бұрын
Your deductive argument: They’re beautiful, therefore they were made by God. Huge gap in that logic. So you renounce that after the preponderance of evidence in regards to the development and natural selection of species, that because they look beautiful, that surely someone must’ve made them? This is an ostensible notion, and a specious argument. Through millions of years of complex evolution we arrive with these creatures. Through natural selection. If you’re telling me that these creatures were made by God, surely you also must be saying, in your deduction, that these species must’ve been immutable since the beginning of time? I don’t want to be mean, I just want you think more logically to strengthen your argument as well. God may have created the universe, but the purported “designs” of these animals and their “beauty” is not a valid deduction of a God.
@Nickander314 жыл бұрын
David L. You can tell you tried too hard to sound smart. If someone believes God made these birds, who are you to try dump your bullshit on their "logic" just move on.
@davidl.53354 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Alexander It’s nice that you started and ended your comment with two logical fallacies, the ad hominem, by attacking me, and argument by dismissal, dismissing the entire argument. Sophistic again. There is an objective truth to everything, which is what we all strive to find.
@apa65024 жыл бұрын
@@davidl.5335 My guy, not everything is an argument, this guy just thought these birds were beautiful. Just because someone else doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean you have to open up the thesaurus and argue with them.
@davidl.53354 жыл бұрын
Apa650 Apa650 Lol I didn’t open up a thesaurus. In any case, I do so to try to convey the meaning of my message in a more concise manner. Furthermore, it wasn’t in my intention to sound patronizing about the situation. I do apologize if I sounded bittersweet to both of you. My intentions were not to be pompous, or to put him down, but merely to help understand that the argument is flawed. He is stating a premise after all, which is open to contention. He can continue believing that; he is free to believe in what he wants, but that doesn’t mean his premise is infallible. The illusion of design is not a logical chain of reasoning for the existence of God. In any case, as I said, I’m sorry if I came off patronizing and I thank you for your insights.

I saw something remarkable today. I live in NYC, in a third floor apartment with a fire escape that looks out onto a park. I have a few bird feeders hanging from my fire escape and I had my windows open to let in some fresh air. I glanced outside and literally three feet in front of my window, directly over my fire escape is where it happened. Two blue jays were tumbling like wagon wheels in the air. Over and under. Over and under. I've never seen a blue jay fly upside down but here they were. At the center of this vortex was a beautiful red cardinal, seemingly spinning vertically in place, surrounded by the two blue jays. The saturated blues. That red. The movement. No artist could have imagined anything so beautiful. All three birds were tangled in air. Were they playing? Fighting? A moment later all three birds landed on my fire escape railing, calmly resting. They seemed to know each other and were not antagonized. A few moments later they flew off. The last few years I've been feeding blue jays peanuts from my fire escape but, during this time, I've only seen a couple of cardinals. Apparently they shy away from buildings and glass. Cardinals feed in the early morning and dusk hours so why did this encounter happen? Oh my, it took my breath away. I had a brief moment with God.
