Nice touch with the roof 👍 You can use a RK Carry all to move full totes The 3 point hydraulics will lift 30% or so more than your FEL Then you can carry a tote on the front and one on the back for great Ballast for hauling firewood out of the woods Lots of possibilities when you have the RK Carry all 👍 I was actually impressed that your FEL picked up that load

Pretty ingenious on the covers on the totes. This is why these types of youtube vids are better than TV. Real life projects by real people.

Nice Ed! I just got two IBC totes and planning on doing what you did; actually got the idea from you. I watch your channel just about every day, or at least when you make a new video. Thanks for all that you share and work you do to make that happen.

That worked out really well. Those IBC totes are great for firewood but sadly they are not cheap to buy over here

Same here. I started out using the tractor, but tried it one day. Much faster and easier!

Ed I use a saws all to cut the bars and bladders and then smooth the edges of bars with grinder. I use bladders for roofs same way. I buy cheap ratchet straps and run over the tops to hold the roof down. Works good I have about 35 totes and love using them. I have bigger tractor so can lift them with no problem and I fill them as full as I can.

FYI you can increase the lift capacity of that tractor. It's very easy and cheap. Lots of videos on the topic. Just add appropriate shims to the PRV.

Excellent video Gord, I enjoyed it very much, such a great idea!! Never crossed my mind lol. I have been doing Celtic Sylos, and I think they are great! But I like this. The sylos were a good idea also Celts were heating with wood, when shelter was for living, not to store wood.... Happy New Year, My Brother!

Invest in a 3 piece set of Unibits for drilling in thin metal like that strut you installed. You'll love them! At Applied OCD, all firewood is stacke neatly, not chucked.

Those baskets hold about 1/3 cord, as demonstrated by other KZbinrs. Thats about a half ton pickup load of hardwood, or around 1000lb. Oak (which is at the dense end of the spectrum) is about 3700lb per cord. Definitely need a bigger tractor to lift a full basket. I’d use totes if I had limitless resources to buy a bigger tractor with SSQA bucket and forks, and 15+ totes. Then I could just bring them over to the house when needed, and cut the “touches” down to 2 a processing it into the basket, and carrying it into the house. But we’re frugal, run a 42 year old tractor, and filling the woodbox is a dad and sons weekly chore. I dry my wood in stacks in the field. Then in early summer I move the wood for the next heating season from there to the woodshed with the pickup truck. I stack a lot. The kids help. It may be inefficient, but it’s good exercise.

Nothing wrong with any of that! I’m pretty much solo these days, so I’ll use the equipment. 🤣
@TimDeGraff9 ай бұрын
I have a similar setup to you with the totes. I now have 32 of them which just barely cover us for winter. Your small zip ties will break the first bump you hit when carrying the empty tote. I had to get 250lb zip ties. I also cut the plastic top the same as you but added a rainbow shape out of it to access inside better.

I just cut an opening like that today 👍
@margaretmatthews5119 ай бұрын
Man, just watching your opening...one must really know a lot to operate a tractor and all the equipment.

These things don't just happen! LOL
@HexaFox5 ай бұрын
Maybe a benefit to loosely throwing it in is you will be able to lift easier and higher with your tractor.

Good stuff Ed. I've been wondering about lifting an IBC tote full of wood. I'm encouraged by what I see! I laughed at your frustration placing the "roof" on the tote...story of my life! 😉😆

I've been using totes for years now, really nice to move the wood from where I have it stored up to my shop by the wood stove. My kioti ck3510 se has no problem picking up over filed totes stacked with oak, hickory. But my tractor has almost 1900 pounds of lift capacity. I haven't made the roof for mine but I might try that if I make any more. Great video, keep them coming..
@MyClutteredGarage9 ай бұрын
@@lonewolfFirearms thank you. The little b2601 serves me well, but it has its limits!
@jschickenfarmer509 ай бұрын
Ed, next time you put the “roof” on, leave the screw on cap off while you move it into place. It would give you a place to get a hand hold on it, then simply screw it back on after the “roof” is secured to the cage. Thanks for the video….

I have been wondering about the IBC totes for firewood. Very nice with the "roof ". Thanks for the B2601 lift test👍. I would like to make my pallet forks work on the back of my B2601 for the greater lift capacity. Great video Ed🚜👍

Hey kids, thanks! I bought some at a local mulch manufacturer. They receive dye in them. Facebook marketplace is a good go-to as well.

That's a good setup.. going to need a bigger tractor if you fill the totes up more, or might be easier to lift when the wood is dried out. Good setup. It's all coming together.

@MyClutteredGarage9 ай бұрын

The best way to remove the bladder is to tip the tote on its side and just pull out the bladder . Easy , no straps or struggles.
