I would insulate your hot water lines with some lagging as they will bleed off heat very quick.

Armaflex etc. have easy to use and quite cheap ready to use insulation tubes to use.

​@@new.handle boat is isolated and with heating on, nothing will freeze even in minus 15-25. But your right, if this was a glasfiber boat without isolation it could be a risky move going without the isolation imo. But putting isolation on the hot pipes will save him energy for sure. Keeping isolation on the cold ones, will keep the cold lines even colder in the hot summers and prevent any cold too freeze it is he leaves it non heated for long times ye. I would probably isolate it just for the colder water in the summers 👍😁

Yeah! My father built a cardboard box casing (with generous use of gaffer tape) for a 230/12 Volt powersupply - in the 70ties. Meant as a temporary solution - obviously - as cardboard is not exactly safe to insulate 230 volt. He said he will built something better soon. My father died 15 years ago. The powersupply still works. In a cardborad casing.

Suggestion. Put a gooseneck in the sink hose to prevent odours coming from seawage tank. And add a deaireation to seawage tank with an antiodour filter. For the toilet you can put, if you have enough space, a separated tank only for that and add an enzimatic pack monthly.

Gromets NOW on all hoses going through holes in steel plate. no kidding...it can only take seeks to have run through as the hoses are always vibrating when in use. Love the vlog...I started on number 1. I am in isolation with the BUG.

A "P" trap under each sink is a must or you will have gas exiting each sink - smelly! Holding tanks should be vented. I agree with others that your "boiler" is going to have a problem with that installation. I love the quick-connects but the concerns expressed are valid. Ensure you have a disconnect switch for when the boat is vacant but not for the bilge pump!

Hi buddy from the UK ! In all the years I have been watching you tube - today was the first time I have ever said YESS ! out loud seeing a new video!! I have watched every one of yours from day 1 over the last few days ! Absolutely fantastic channel and job you are doing! It’s crazy that I have found this channel as I have just landed a 1979 Dutch steel boat on my yard just about identical to yours ! Ground up restoration just the same ! I just saved her in time - she wouldn’t have made it through another winter abandoned at the dock - she has some corrosion at the bow and a hole that was plugged with mud, as it was tidal it’s the only thing that kept her afloat! She’s up here In Yorkshire now tho - next to my workshop!! Let the work commence ! (This is also my first boat restoration)

Just a suggestion, I would put shut off valves before each sink, shower so that if you have a leak at any point you have a better chance of not having to turn off your entire water system.

Looking forwards to seeing how you deal with your water heater being half full of air - as the tank is angled up the hull - with the connections at the lower end. Hopefully it doesn't cause too much of a problem.

White plumbers tape is low grade and you should use "pink" tape. Also after min 3 layers, tighten it as best you can with your fingers (use a screwing motion) to push it into the threads and expel air, then screw on your fitting. Also any fitting through the hull should have a shut off valve, in this case a smooth full bore ball type, so as not to catch particles and clog. But looks good.

You need to talk with a professional plumber and get them to show you have to wrap Teflon tape. Not insulting you but there is a correct way. Your work is impressive man. You’re a go-getter!

As for the toilet you can use something like a Nature's Head Toilet (urine diverting and waterless operation) or make your own with a 5 gallon bucket, and toilet seat, and trash bags, all kinds of material to keep down the smell. Then just carry on shore and dispose of.

If you look iside those metal slip nut hoses you will discover that the seal of that ftg is set up to be a compressive seal. TFE tape can actually create a potential for leak with any future vibration. Composting toilets work surprisingly well and will conserve your water

You have a problem with your hot water boiler. You will have an air pocket in it at all times, unless there's a bleeder on the back,. You have the hot water outlet lower than the highest point of the tank.

Great job! Congrats! One little remark please, is for that green plastic pipe for water. Winter is coming! Maybe is better to try to have in the engine room, temperatures above zero Celsius degrees, in order to prevent ice clogging of pipes and potential leackings (pipes cracks or enlargements or plastic connectors cracks). If you'll leave the boat afloat and unattended for days, don't forget to drain the water from all water pipes! All the best! 😉

In terms of waste water; I'm looking at exactly the same thing right now and as my boat is a sailing barge I'm fitting Y-valves to everything, including both of the sink pumps and the shower, so I can pump this out of the side if I *need* to. Although usually I'm going to pump this into a waste tank so I can pump out to a sewerage facility. This is pretty easy for me as I'm moored right near one and usually have a permanent connection although i'm going to put as large a tank in as I can; I think 1000 litres at least. This means I can be away for a good while before I need to pump out. For the toilet there already is a hull fitting to pump this out directly from the toilet and also a hull fitting to take water in to flush the toilet. This outlet was also on a Y-valve although always in the position where it is pumped into the waste tank. I'm going to leave this system so that I *could* pump straight out of the side if it was *really* necessary and I was in a location in which it was ok to do so (such as at sea), although it will go into the waste tank usually. I'm also combining the "black" and the "grey" water in this tank. There is a case for having separate tanks if you reclaim the grey water although I just pump out into the mains sewerage system so will just keep it all in the same tank. The guidance is hard to understand in the UK too really although I think it's good future-proofing to be able to collect everything (and to avoid having to pump out constantly get as large a tank as you can possibly manage). Finally, you can weld plastic HDPE sheets yourself with a plastic welder so make your own tanks to the dimensions you have, for example low in the hull etc. This is what I'm going to do.

Obtw they recommend you double up on those water hose clamps for the sink water outlet and to the gray water tank. Also to your sump pump and waste water tank! and the bilge pump as well. Anywhere were you have hoses with clamps always double up on them, just a smart thing to do. Water damage can be a costly thing, guess how I know that one. LOL other than that, it looks really good bruh.

Water coming out of waste tank should have some kind of trap to protect the pump if something should fall down the drain. It could also stop the flow of water. Maybe it's best to put trap before waste tank. One more thing just came to me, the sink should have a pee trap just under the sink to stop bad smell from entering the boat. In America it's called a pee-trap. All it is, is a half loop in the drain line which holds (a little bit) water that makes a seal so bad smell from waste tank can't come into the boat. Goose neck above the water line ? And grey water outlet above the water line, I hope you don't empty your gray water tank with toilet water above the water line. I think you missed the point grey water you dump under water and then use a goose neck to prevent the water from leveling. Great refit and nice water system.

Dark water through hull pump should be installed under water line (I think). Usually straight down. The reason is that once you start using the head the pump out will stink and if you have it in the location you do it will always be rolling down the side of the boat creating smell and pretty nasty residue.

This is just the gray water outlet, water from the shower and sinks. The head is existing under the water line, you can see it in episode 43 if I recall correctly.

Great job on this, it looks very professional. The gray cable trunking that you already have is a great way to run cables & flex pipes neatly. It's cheap, easy to deal with and protects everything very well. I have used it in large industrial machinery where vibration and other potential damage is always an issue.

As to waste water, I feel it really is up to all of us to ensure we DO NOT introduce anything into rivers, stream, canals or, coastal waters that we would not wish to swim with!!! Black water tanks MUST be fitted or, composting toilets or, incinerating toilets MUST be fitted.

I would recommend doubling up on the pipe clamps/jubilee clips as security against failure (leaks on boats are bad) :)

Exactly. Use two clamps on every single water connection. Mount the clamps always turned by 180 degrees against each other. This applies to the entire boat, e.g. water system, engine room, bilge pumps, etc.

With the problem of corrosion in the electrical wiring. I strongly recommend that you use Penetrox. Even use it on wire crimps. Just dip the wire end in Penetrox before crimping. The boat is looking good Inside.🤗🛥🌞

You should review the connectors on the waste pump, and cut them back. If you leave it this way, you will have a bottleneck. (tubings diameter vs. pump connector) Also don't fortget to isolate/fix the tubings rubbing against each other. ;-) And yeah... waste water outlet belongs under the waterline or at least not so high (dirty paint/hull). Nice to see that your overall skills are growing and you have invested in proper tools! :-)

I approve of your waste water thoughts. It must be remembered that household grey water makes its way into water courses almost untreated anyway. If you are thoughtful of what you put in chemical wise you are not doing anything that a normal householder doesn’t do too. The difference is that you are very aware of what you emit. Solids are different but that depends on how busy the waterway is and its rate of change. A busy canal for instance is very different to a flowing river or the tidal sea where the rate of change of the water body is significant. Dilution is everything and I prefer people to be aware of what they discharge as many boaters are. To be revolting, one mans waste is another organisms food. Its about balance as ever.

Black water management is not as complicated as it might seem..... just think about where you are and imagine swimming with big dukys floating around. At at sea, your chances of crossing paths with a turd are slim but in inland areas... in our area, there is no discharging anything within 20 miles of land

Great progress. Fitting an adequately sized black water tank is relatively easy - the problem may be accessing pump out locations on your waterways - have you researched that? A bigger problem may well be how to deal with fuel/oil contaminated bilge water - pumping that overboard is more likely to be detected and prosecution swiftly exercised. Grey water is not a problem if you are using eco friendly products. Keep up the good work.👍

In my friends 104' wooden boat we were going to use bags like are used for transporting plywood glue on flat bed truck trailers. Allowing us to empty them. Roll them up and removing the support beds to access the bilge if needed instead of cutting the deck out above and a crane to lift them out. There are race car fuel cell bladder manufacturers that might have something in a size you might use.

One thing I do with future lines is I just install a shutoff valve instead of a plug. Although I can see where the plug is handy in that it helps keep dirt out of the lines. But you might want to look at some shutoff valves for handy troubleshooting and maintenance later on in life.

Dealing with grey water is one thing. Black water is another and you really need to deal with the fact that your head discharges directly overboard. Removing it and going to a cassette type head would be a good choice. Grey water can be dealt with by using a reverse osmosis system and the water being discharged is actually drinkable. This however would require accumulated residue to be cleaned from the tank occassionally.

You can easily hang a blackwater tank behind your toilet. No need to keep it under waterline, and you get a 3 way valve to either dump it overboard where legal, or pump it out via a deck fitting. Remember when you pump out your toilet, you can without any problem pump it up 1 meter to a tank, either with a manual pump toilet or electric ( i prefer a electric with a macerating mill that cuts up all sevage). On most sailboats today the tank is assembled behind the toilet on the hull.

You will probably never use the hot water in the hand washing sink in the head. It takes 30 seconds of water running or so until hot water is actually coming out of the tap, and given the need to use water sparingly on a boat, you will never let the water run long enough.
