An electrian told me that i should never roll up excess wire in a loop if the wire draws a lotta power like powertools etc. , because it gets extremely hot and could combust. Im sure your bilge pump doesnt fall in that category, but i allways roll up my cords in figure eight, if i plan to use them over a period etc. etc. . There you go, you are welcome mein herr, a little “noia” from 🇩🇰 😊. Fantastic channel btw.

the blue plastic pieces on top of your workbench are for clamping such material like this timbers you can further clamp it if needet (with the right clamps into the holes in tthe table) with clamping them down more in the middle you can work the whole length and the leverage is not that mutch on the ends since it is centered also for those pockets you had to carve out.. buy you a forstner bit, they come in inexpensive sets with varius sizes. i imagine you have a lot more such little things to make. this kind of bits can shave larger holes without runnig out or stall. even with a hole partialy not in solid wood like you did here. also much safer as a hole saw

I am not a boater, but I appreciate your efforts because much of your electronics and plumbing are transferable to our vintage motor home. Your current security camera discussion is a prime example, and it is apparent your planning is intelligent and straightforward, thank you from Las Vegas, Nevada, US.

Have you considered a boat lift on the platform? Similar to a trailer with a hinge on the platform and winch. You could pull small boats out of the water and up onto the platform to work on them dry. A floating boatyard!

I would suggest picking up a set of Forstner Drill Bits for future use. would save you a bit of time. you can use them to create clearance holes for bolt heads quickly and easily.

Enjoying your adventures, but this is KZbin, so here some unrequested advise: -when drilling holes into wood >5mm it is worth to use a wood drill and not a metal drill as you can see from the breakout. -wood on metal needs careful sealing, especially in a Northern climate and near door openings and such. The metal will condensate, and oak wood has a fairly open structure so it will soak up the moisture resulting in rot. Use wood sealer (epoxy / varnish / paint) and use glue liberally to connect it to the metal so that there are no air pockets between the wood and metal where air can condensate.

Nice work on the Oak door frame but I am confused. I don't see how they will help you seal out the weather since they do not appear to come in contact with the actual door. Congrats on that cute orange boat. Looks like that will be a lot of fun to scoot around with.

It might be a good idea while doing the conversion kit on the motor that you bring it up onto your barge and use your handy new work bench to hold it. It would add so much anxiety for me to be doing it over that open hole into the water. If it's something you haven't done before there's already enough pressure on you without worrying about dropping things into the water. Just a thought. I agree it is a very mean looking little vessel that even with a smaller motor is going to be as fast as the size and hull can maintain safely. What a fun little craft it's going to be and perfect for buzzing up and down the river with a few friends or alone and on very little fuel... Those electronics you're adding are very cool and will make things so much easier to monitor and use. Talk about bringing your old yacht up to date with some of today's conveniences. Well done and something I'll keep in mind should I ever find the vessel I'm looking for to refit... As always your work looks excellent and is coming along nicely...

For further work you can consider using a Nobex magnetic saw guide, especially for Japanese saw. Your guid is fine but made for push saws. (In case the box is too wide for your saw blade you can use a loose shim which helps to keep a straight cut.

You really need to grind back the gel coat in GRP when doing repairs and patches, You will find if you go to the patches I just saw you do, you will find you and pop them off with a scaper as the polyester resin won't stick to the gel coat layer of the GRP. Just FYI

in the summer you could buid a scrren door tht fits your new oak frame. For the holes in the frame for the nuts ect you should buy a set of forstner drill bits they cut flat holes and even cut if the hole is a liitel outside the wood. 👍👍 So you got a tender, for the tender for your yatch? just kidding. 🤣 👍👍👍

In North America, there are 2 types of oak timber, red and white. Red is not good for boat work because it easily absorbs water through it's end grain. The water then wicks up and causes rot. Japanese saws are amazing ! You do not need such a large one for the work you are doing. You can even find some that have folding handles. The best ones are actually made in Japan. The important thing is blade thickness and tooth count. Buy a second work bench. Much easier to use 2 when working on large or long pieces of wood.
