Modern tech has really made home workshops much better and accessible I believe. You can 3d print gears with accuracy good enough for lathe change wheels. I have made a set to include imperial to metric transposing gears. Even PLA is strong enough. Great content as always, thank you. I have taken inspiration from you for casting and machining with some success.

I would always look for a screw of the correct length to hold blanks on a mandrel. I didn't even think of using a nut on a longer screw. Thanks for the tip.

Nice result. How many watts do you get from that laser? Looks like you were cutting at 20mm/sec. Regards, Preso

I love using a spindexer when I get a chance to. It's so simple, little can go wrong. I think anyone that has one always has an upgrade they want to do to it.

Nice job on the gears. I like the spin indexer. Looks easier to use than a dividing head. The spin indexer may be a good option for my mini mill? Cheers Nobby

It's very easy to make a mistake with a dividing head. Don't ask how I know. You can make extra plates on the mill with DRO.

If you should ever get one and want some custom plates let me know I can make them very quickly with the laser.

You need a porta-band with a nice stand for your shop….I do 95% of my cutting with it!.. takes up almost no square footage!

I wonder if you will ever return and complete that machined 3d printer you was planning to finish.

The printer was finished. Back then there were not many affordable ones on sale. I was asked to review one of the first Sovol ones and never had a reason to use my own design one.

Hello, I sent you an email earlier, I hope you get it as sometimes it ends up in the spam box, I need a few castings made and was hoping you could help. I'll delete this comment later on.

OK, It looks like to it's down to me to ask the stupid question. Why is there a gear on the front wheel if you have a shaft (not sure of the correct term) from the rear wheel driving the front wheel? Shall I get me coat?
@myfordboy
@myfordboy Ай бұрын
Keep your coat. It's a quirk of the original loco. They used the same casting for both wheels. As you say the front gear is not needed
