AAAAAW ♡♡♡ You're sooo very welcome, sweetie!! ♡♡♡ I used to do something similar! :D I used to take notes while reading Mangas and would study what they did in each panel to express the emotions and mood! Ppl don't realize how much studying goes into creating the perfect panel, but it truly is a diciplined art form! It's a super FUN one, but the real fun comes after we've gotten a good handle on drawing out panels! Once we get that down...the freedom of being able to tell your story without a struggle feels GREAT! ♡

Thanks for these Manga making videos! They help a lot. For my friend's birthday I'm making a one chapter manga for her. I followed your video for guidance and now I'm on the layout step, as this video shows. I got only 10 pages done in an hour and a half 😅. It really makes me respect actual mangakas like you because it takes so much time. I can't believe in Japan some put out a chapter a month or a week. I couldn't imagine the stress 😂

What a cool gift you're working on! ♡ I'm sure your friend will love it ♡ And yes! It's a challenge to create manga, but it is a labor of love ♡ I complete a chapter a month but I have a very strict schedule I follow so I can have time with my family ♡ In Japan they're workaholics sooo...yeah...a ton more stress ^__^;; That's why I always ask people to support their favorite mangaka by buying their Manga because the artists work sooo hard (and they live off of the earnings of the manga) And THANK YOU for enjoying my videos! I hope to continue to make videos that can help you ♡ +J-wink

I'm a freaking child I can't go to those art classes, I'm really determined to proceed in art and maybe even make a career, plus, I started drawing when I was in second grade (I started taking it seriously then) but sadly, I can only get really helpful information from KZbin and such ;-;

Art class won't really teach you anything XD All it can do is reinforced what you've already taught yourself :) I'm compleeetely self taught and when I was a kod, there was no KZbin LOL Drawing from life, practicing the basics like anatomy, perspective, shadows etc. are crucial. I just realised that I have a tip for people who want to draw manga, so I thought I would put it on a more popular video like this as it would likely go unseen if I uploaded it on my channel. If you're thinking about making a manga which will be printed in a magazine or volume, remember to google gutter margins and read up on those! It's basically the space in a page that can't be seen when they put the book together and it's VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
@MyMangakaLIFE7 жыл бұрын
It goes far deeper than that, dear. "Margins" ,as you called them, vary and change depending on the trim size of your publication. And most people will measure incorrectly (which I've seen countless times). It's best for them to simply watch my video on how to use professional manga and manuscript paper where all the guidelines have been printed on the paper for them :) +Starlight IRIS

hi~ so I just started subscribing to you! I really love your art, and I EXTREMELY appreciate your videos, especially no one ever takes the time to go over these kinds of thing! ^.^ I would love to become an American mangaka, and learn how to work through some things in order to become publish! I was wondering if I could ask you some things ^^' so I already have the story and characters in mind, and what kind of panels to draw and stuff! but you see, I really like the style of "manga's" and I rather hate thin comics like "marvel", but I also want my series to be in full color! ^.^ I feel like if I make them in color, that it would bring out the feel that I need for it! perhaps I could do graphic novels since they are like a mix of both? anyway, with that being said....I seem to struggle when it comes to the page layouts! I want to draw and ink my comic on paper, scan it in, and then color digitally~ I was wondering what kind of paper I could use, or what kind of measurements to work with on making the bleed page and all that correct, because things like that and getting it printed, still confuses me some ^^' and I know you don't do thing digitally tho really except for text and all, but I still would like some help ^^' thank you! u.u

Highly doubt you won't respond but even tho it takes a lot of time is good art really needed and why is drawing in the boxes so hard especially for fight scenes
@MyMangakaLIFE4 жыл бұрын
Hello dear!😄 Those are great questions! 1.) "Great art skills" are not as necessary as a well written and well executed story. People may be attracted to the art BUT they'll only continue to support your story if they're emotionally invested in the story 👍 (though it's still important to understand how to draw anatomy, perspective, shading, and emotions. There are countless styles out there so don't feel bad if your art doesn't look like that of your fave mangakas) 2.)Fight scenes are tricky to plan out-- you REALLY need to pretend you're the director and cameraman of a Hollywood film when planning out what happens during the battle AND what angle your reader will be seeing each punch and kick. Really take the time to choreograph the fight scenes! Be patient and have fun!🔥

Would you say it's easier to do all your pages by hand or to draw each individual panel on a regular or large paper and put it all together on the computer? Like is it easier to do all your comics by hand or to do the bulk of it with a computer program?
@MyMangakaLIFE7 жыл бұрын
There's no such thing as an easier method for the most part because page layouts and scripting the pages take time and work. Once you decide on the look and composition of the page, you have to decide what method will work best for you. Personally, I don't know of any professionals who draw one panel per page and then puts it together digitally; not saying you can't, but I fear that it may be more trouble than it's worth ^__^;; Scanning in pages can take hours LOL +AiRenji

is it necessary to draw manga right to left or can we draw it left to right l
@starlightiris7 жыл бұрын
In my opinion it very much depends on what you want to do. I personally am most used to reading right to left and think that this sets it apart from western comics, so if I drew a manga this is how I would set it out. However, if you're not Japanese, it might be easier to do it left to right seeing as that's how western comics are usually laid out. So no it doesn't matter, per se, it's a matter of personal preference.
@AngelaMerici126 жыл бұрын
It's just how Japanese people read. I'm used to read manga that way, and many children other people and for that it's suggested but not mandatory.

The thing is i make manga on paper, and it's all transferred to computer now (for the text) but im not sure what paper you use to print and how you make the book? it's all new because i started in anime/manga drawing like 2 years ago, but manga drawing like one year ago and deciding to self-publish it now. I'm not sure how though. (If you've already made a video of this, sorry, i'm new to this channel, i'd be very thankful if you reply).

a manga works mirrored from a normal book right the biginning page is right and the last page on the left side of the book or do i have that wrong?
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
Well, first, what is considered a "normal book" depends on what part of the world you're from (books in Japan and Isreal read from left-to-right, while books in America and Korea read from right-to-left). So, to answer your question, when reading manga, it's literally like holding an American book and starting from the back cover. When you hold a Manga, the spine is to the right, the first page is on the left and the last page is on the right. You'll begin reading each page from the upper right-hand corner and end at the lower left-hand corner ♡ I hope this makes sense LOL

There's no way I could really help you through comments alone ^__^;; I'd need to make a video tutorial, and since I'm working on other videos, the ones you're looking for won't be done for a few weeks. And though you're participating in a challenge, remember to enjoy your summer break and play outside ♡ I know I will :3 +hajer rainbow

I dont' know what came before these two pages but I'd be mad if my roommate came in my room and pulled off my blanket for no reason. I think these pages are better switched around. It would give your main character a realistic reason to go in her roommates room and pull off his blanket because she's mad about having no water and that sheko didn't even notice main character yelling. y'know I'm sayin'?

how do u know how much space you have to draw/write in?
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
+miguel bla It's all about composition and layout and keeping in mind how much dialogue is going to be on the page. It takes practice to know how to layout your pages but that comes in time :)

I have question. How the last two panel added when in your thumbnail has no sketch at all?
@MyMangakaLIFE8 жыл бұрын
LOL I explained that in the video, dear. I only sketched out 6 panels (which would usually be enough for one page). However, due to the size of the panels, some panels rolled over to the next page. Please rewatchbthis video for more info ♡

@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
Hello dear ♡ When you asked "how do you put your pages together" what do you mean exactly? Are you asking how I plan out my pages or are you asking how to take my pages and turn them into a book? And what is it exactly that you'd like to know about making a cover? :3 Get back to me when you can and I'll do my best to help you ^__^
@skychordsketches35519 жыл бұрын
Yea how do you turn your pages into the book itself. And how do you make the covers you know. Glossy and things like that. A regular book cover.
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
Oh! That's because my Manga ARE real books XD They're printed by the thousands in a factory :) The company I cofounded, J.U. Comics, hires a number of companies to produce our merchandise ♡

+My Mangaka LIFE ohhh is that a self publishing company? Idk im so confused!! >_
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
LOL Don't worry, sweetie! :D I'm self published author and my fiancé and I created a company that our Manga will be published under ♡ We don't belong to an established publisher; we are our own publisher :) And so, we hire companies to print our books and we then sell our Manga to stores and at conventions ♡

how do you know where the panels go? I mean there are many different shapes and sizes.
@MyMangakaLIFE8 жыл бұрын
Oh! ♡ I talked about that in this video :) You have to keep in mind what the scene you're drawing looks like, figure out the mood of it, and play around with the size and shape of the panel to see if it communicates the mood. You can go through the manga you like and really pay attention to their page layouts to see who they communicated moods and emphasize certain scenes by the size of the panels :) Make notes if you need to ♡ It's a process and takes practice but it's worth it ♡ +Harkhush Sidhu

@trin84718 жыл бұрын
Manga is a comic. No different than an american one, only it is from a different country... You can draw a manta style, and still have it left to right if that's your preference, but you could have it right to left, if that is.. No matter your choice don't rush, though! ;)

Hi, I have a very important question, sometimes when I read mangas (like the first book of the "Rendez-vous sous la pluie" series), there are rare panels that are cut multiple times, and the next box is smaller than the previous one. (Sorry it's hard to explain I mean, there is the panel, then a small rectangle, and an other one smaller, do you understand? ^^')
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
Can you take a picture of the panels you're refering to and link me to the photo? :)
@overheat459 жыл бұрын
My Mangaka LIFE Ok there it is :) goo.gl/photos/aKBs88PMo292FnaM6 It's the panel on the bottom of the page.
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
+Okami Otaku Oh yes! I'm very familiar with that technique :) I use that myself (a different variation). That's to show the passage of time ♡ What was your question about those panels? :3
@overheat459 жыл бұрын
+My Mangaka LIFE Oh thanks, my question was "How can I use those, what effects can they create?" ^^
@MyMangakaLIFE9 жыл бұрын
+Okami Otaku Aaaah, I see :3 They can be used for a whooole lot of different effects (with a little creativity ♡) but the most common use is for the passage of time. You can show one black panel, one grey, then a white one, and lastly show the new scene (or even the sky). Like that ♡ Play around with it and see what you can come up with! :D
