Surface computer-tablets are for white-collar professionals and traveling business folks. They are NOT for the peasant class, gamers, or hobbyists (video/photo editing). If you use or are interested in an iPad Pro you clearly don't need a light-weight portable computer, so Apple's big iPhone is perfect for you...lol

You said a great point! For most applications you recommended iPad Pro And this device doesn’t compete with Surface pro 7 it’s not comparable but it does compete with Tab S6 or iPad Pro now to give some perspective, over 350 millions iPads have been sold till date.... just last quarter iPads made close to 7billion in revenues and surface devices altogether made just 1billion From a value stand point, there is no reason a developer will try to spend more resources to make software/apps for a 4th platform, WoA being 4th where a developer already spends a lot for x86/x64, iOS and Android Unless Microsoft pushes really hard for this device to be sold in millions by cutting the price, giving deals etc; which they cannot do because that will cannibalise their other surface line-ups thus antagonising distributors and retailers Surface Pro X with WoA is doomed just like it happened with windows mobile I had a Lumia and then the gorgeous HP Elite X3, spectacular device, way ahead of its time, it had USB-C 3.1 in 2015, had iris scanner in 2015 but in 4 years time developers left the platform, Whatsapp broke in 2019, security updates stopped and finally MS gave up and HP went quiet consumers like me ended up with a $800 brick! If you want windows go surface pro 7 ( which doesn’t have LTE btw and it will never as it would hurt and compete with the sales of Pro X,MS will never release LTE for pro 7) Stop trusting WoA.... This Ain’t it Chief! This Ain’t it!

Please with the nonsense. iPads are just big iPhones and have very limited functionality. This is why their market share has dropped from 80% to 33% over the past decade and Android tablets enjoy twice the market share. Also, no one ever sees people using iPads 1. at coffee shops or airports 2. in public or university libraries 3. at professional conferences/trainings 4. in graduate school by students or university professors However, you do see children and elder people using them all the time...lol

i don't get it, why would microsoft do this? they could knock the ipad pro out of the water by offering complete flexibility with powerful tablet hardware, this compatibility issue is a deal killer, come on microsoft, just because apple does this shit with software apps, don't mean you should do it too, making my own software choices is why i choose windows, so act like a windows platform with your surface family

Lol Apple literally developed Rosetta 2 to ease compatibility issues for a bit on ARM Macs. Microsoft has literally never done something like that successfully. Don’t think you brought up the best example here

ARM will never succeed on Windows with this strategy.

They need to make a surface go with ARM , at the same price as the current go but with much better battery life
@twistedoracle11445 жыл бұрын
Digitalguy Yes, affordable devices with ARM. Just optimize the major desktop programs that most people use for ARM really well like Chrome, Office, and such. Maybe have an ARM mode that just runs optimized apps only. However, you can definitely opt out and get full Windows, but you would get informed about the possible performance hit you know like a warning.

@@twistedoracle1144 They cannot optimize chrome, since it belongs to google, but they have done the next best thing, made a chromium based edge that is working great on Windows on ARM, now they need to make it the default browser. Also hopefully they’ll choose a powerful enough chip for the GO, of course it won’t be the SQ1/8CX but let’s hope the new 7c / 8c are powerful enough, otherwise people will reject it...

@@_Digitalguy If they had done an ARM GO I would have bought one instead of splashing twice the cash on a Pro X (I really wanted the instant-on capability as I use Pen + OneNote as replacement for pad and paper). Now I've got the Pro X MS should definitely release an ARM GO cheap enough that they sell loads and offer a wider market / incentive for more native ARM apps vs emulated (Have to say emulated office runs at an acceptable speed for me).

Microsoft seems to have missed the mark on this one, they should have released it as a 10" mobile device in the $500 starting price range.

If you're only going to be using Chrome and Office, why not just get a cheap Chromebook?
@MyNextTablet5 жыл бұрын
That would be a better value if you're on a budget and that's why I say that most shouldn't get it. But some want a premium device for that and are willing to spend 1000$ or more. Many who spend that same Surface Pro X price on a MacBook Air/Pro often use it for just Chrome and Office too.

That's an expensive TV, for me anyway. I'll stick with Chromebooks, and for portability my Samsung Tab A for the kitchen. Nice review, as always.
