One could probably get a similar effect by using pigment powders in certain areas, though you'd have to brush it on exactly where you wanted it.

when will you show the overall layout and hopefully a few trains running

I'll make a video of trains running... Soon. I want to do more scenery in the gorge area. This will give visitors something to look at other than bench work. Plus, I love doing scenery. 😀

Ron form what I'm seeing so far you should continue doing these videos you showed me a new skill on those rocks and as soon as my layout is back up and running I'm going to redo my rocks using this technique I'm modeling a bit of a twist on history instead of virginian being taken over by Norfolk &western I went with southern taking over the virginian and its been fun so far :)

Great technique Ron! Mike Confalone is a scenery wiz. I always find myself wanting to see more content from him, it always seems to come at a price though... Thanks for sharing with those who don't have Train Masters TV haha. Ethan

Ron have watched both parts and looks great, i thought the thinners may have taken off the grey paint tho cheers Robert

+csxmad The grey wash is fine. It was unaffected by the thinner. I did highlight the top edges with a white paint, maybe that's what you're seeing.

+csxmad My scenery base is cardboard lathe technique, and I covered it in Plaster of Paris dipped dryer sheets. They work great. The rock castings are also made of Plaster of Paris.
