My son is gonna build his house in the philippines in a couple years, I'm curious if he'll use solar like you did. he wont do it here in the states, thinks the company's here are out to screw him. but I can see the benefit for having it there. like you said, tap into that source called, the sun.

Hi James I have Solar Panels for a few years now and recently Birds started nesting under the vents. With all the debris getting collected under it block the water flow and causes a backflow under the roof tiles. You might want to consider putting some wires to prevent them from going under the panels
@rodrobes
@rodrobes 2 жыл бұрын
I wonder if that will be an issue because the rain and the extreme heat might deter the birds from nesting under the panels compare to north America.

As the pitch of this style roof is very steep, ~38 degree angle, I'm confident we'll never have an issue with water backup. And for those pesky birds, well, we'll just have to see. We love the birds around here and don't mind them nesting as long as there's no damage.

@@MyPIDream I do have a very steep roof as well, they nested near the metal bars and near the brackets clogging that one particular spot. Pigeons nested on my roof so it really collected lots of dirt and debris overtime. The only good thing is where you are labour to fix things doesnt cost you an arm and leg compare to Sydney.

Wildlife does seem to be a problem sometimes, one Solar customer had roof damage due to raccoons or 🐿squirrels nesting under the panels here in Canada, but then those critters like to nest in attics ,often for winter ,,and it gets really hot in the attic, I know this because it happened to my house and a friends , it cost a lot of money to get rid of raccoons they are very protective of their young, will rip your house apart to get their young, I put very strong wire mesh with screws in their holes yet the mother ripped that barrier out, we used to have a problem with recycling collection bins for green waste , the ' coons would open them no matter how well designed the covers were, they are smarter than humans it seems, they sure outsmarted me 3 times.

spend the extra P10k and change the way the batteries are connected. Please use bus bars to connect to the inverter and not paralleled like I saw in your video. You'll find with your current setup, the battery closest to the circuit breaker to cycle faster. Ideally you'd want all four of your batteries to cycle at the same time. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream 2 жыл бұрын
I'll have to ask the solar company about your question about bus bars but for your battery comment, these are smart batteries which are connected and monitored via a communications link to the inverter. The inverter charges each battery at the same level of charge. This is apparent from the charge status LED's on the front of each battery which are all exactly at the same recharge state.

I went Solar in 2018, Hardware was close to 20 k and a grid tied system. Project engineers are unscrupulous to not give u zero net gain on grid tied systems, and electric Companies do not like customers going Solar so they bribe County Commissioners to make ordinances not fare for home owners. Its a very costly project here in Florida still. It does save me about $100 US monthly, but I still owe the Electric Co a $40.00 a month account fee plus what ever electric consumption I use. The price of Back up Batteries here in US make it very not cost effective to do off grid and the Electric Companies do not want customers going off grid. Bottom line, Here in FL, still very expensive to put a cost effective Solar system in.

I'm hearing similar complaints from other Floridians. I'm sure other states have similar penalties for not using their production as well but it seems Florida is in the spotlight these days. Base on my experience the amount of power generated should be proportional to the usage. I think they mentioned 10.5KW solar panels would be installed. @manwork6545 2 жыл бұрын
Hello James, thanks a lot for your sharing. If I understand you well., if you install a 5th powerwall you would provide for 25KW, almost your average daily consumption at the moment ? Theoretically does it mean you could not need the grid anymore ? If you tell me how much is the electricity cost at the moment, we would be able to estimate the amount of time you would need to compensate your installation supposedly that your daily consumption of electricity remain the same (around 30KW) for the next several years....
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream 2 жыл бұрын
As our batteries are 5.2kWh each, a fifth powerwall would theoretically provide 26kWh (5 * 5.2 = 26). For protection we configure the inverter to shut down the output of the batteries when the load reaches 30% so that would bring the total output capacity of 5 batteries to the load to 18.2kVh and not 25kVh (5 * 3.64 = 18.2). An important factor I really did not talk about is to make sure you have enough output capacity from your solar panels to both sustain your daily power consumption for the house as well as to recharge your batteries. The more batteries, the more load on you solar panels. Our last current utility company rate for June was PHP12.2134.

Very good James and very interesting, a great place for to refer back later on. Just a little clarification on the power problem you had with the blackout. Was the problem because of a glitch in the system or because you were doing a new battery install and the system was off line? Well this be a recurring issue under the same power issues or a 1 time thing? Looking forward to the next vid. Thx
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is were were upgrading the batteries so they were offline. At that time there was also a brownout from our utility company. I was able to recover power using our secondary battery backup solution as I instructed the install team to integrate into the solar system. No issues with the new solar system as this is normal when the grid and solar battery backup is not present.

I'm sure the builder pitched the roof slightly and he has lots of drain holes/ pipes , he also had lots of waterproofing added like Sahara cement ( swimming pool waterproofing) I think. James, are the Fox batteries high voltage or low voltage? I want to install Fox batteries with a Deye inverter, but my installer told me that the Deye inverter utilizes a low voltage system and that the Fox batteries are high voltage. From what information I have gathered the high voltage batteries are more efficient. I'm confused as to what I am seeing in your systems.
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
Your installer is misinformed. The FoxESS LV5200 I have are low voltage, hence the name LV5200. Low voltage batteries typically have a voltage of below 100V. The LV5200 has a nominal voltage Vdc of 51.2 with a battery voltage range of Vdc 43.2 - 57.6. Using a higher voltage low voltage battery might be considered better because is requires less current. Less current is less resistance which will run the inverter cooler.

@@MyPIDream I have an Enphase system here in Los Angeles and the cost of their battery is almost the same cost as the solar system. Enphase uses micro inverter and is attached to each individual panels.

The system can be set up for off-grid but ours is not that's why its called "grid-tied".

Wonder why the low number of subscribers? You've been vlogging for five years. Maybe need some shameless click baits or reminders to subscribe from viewers?

The mission statement of MPID is to educate and stimulate discussion. This is the overriding goal over subscriber count or profit. Our subs are loyal to the channel because they understand this is not a "click bait" type of channel and the channel continues to grow because of this. I don't think 50k+ subs in 5 yeas is something to be ashamed of. 🙏🏼

The way you say “uMAGA” reminds me of a certain insurrectionist ex-POTUS. Hope it’s not intentional on your part. 😜😜😜
