In the aftermath of World War Two, the victorious Allied nations despatched numerous military expeditions into the Antarctic region. Did these battleships weigh anchor in the name of science and exploration, or did they set sail in search of something far more sinister? An evil that dwelt under the ice.

Welcome to the first part of our Mysteries of the Third Reich miniseries, in which we'll be focusing on German wonder weapons, their possible connections to the occult and extra-terrestrials and questions about whether a Fourth Reich continues to exist in secret to this day. These will not be released consecutively, but over a number of months in between other subjects. Finally, please don't forget to like and share, as it REALLY helps the channel!

The naming of the destroyer that had its magazine detonated as USS Maddox makes me really doubt the entirety of the UFO attack. There have only been three destroyers with that name, 2 of which were in WWII. The first was sunk in like 42 or 43 by a dive bomber and the other survived the war, and was in active service at the claimed date, but it didnt sink. In fact, that USS Maddox went on to be the ship involved in the famous gulf of Tonkin incident. Only one ship at a time can bear a name so it seems very unlikely that the story is true. Plus the USS Casablanca was decommissioned in 1946 and scrapped by 47, so it wouldnt make sense for it to be in active service during Windmill. Regardless, I'm super excited for this series and this video in particular was very interesting! Edit: Finally was able to finish the video after I got off work and it looks like BS covered pretty much everything I said word for word, oops 😅

Perhaps that detail is incorrect. It certainly puts doubt on the rest of the story, but we don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater over such a minor detail. Stories like these are spread and reiterated countless times over the years. Not to say I necessarily believe the story either, just offering a possible counterargument.

This may be my fav KZbin channel. At least, of this type of content- the creepy & macabre. The episodes are so good. So informative, looked at objectively, not at all snarky, you don't try to be cute or funny. I really can't think of anything bad to say. I wish there were more drawings. That's about it- wish the pictures moved faster but, then again- they ARE drawings, not photographs so obviously they take longer & there won't be as many. Not much to critique- damn fine job! Keep em coming!!!

I'm surprised there wasn't even a mention of the idea of Mars Germans. The story goes something like, the Nazi's made it to Antarctica, where they eventually found a trove of ancient alien relics. Using what they could scavenge they made the flying saucers mentioned here (also the roswell crash is thought to be Nazi in origin to some), but they were visited by some other race who basically told them that if they mined out all these artifacts for 20 years and gave them all to this other race, that after that period they could keep whatever they found AND they'd allow them room inside the moon to establish a base of operations in the mean time ( as the moon is an artificial satellite). After the 20 year contract expired, they decided to make a larger base on Mars where they mostly reside today. Not saying I believe it, but there's multiple "witness" accounts and some who say they've been to mars and worked side by side with the Germans. It's an interesting story at the very least.

If the Haunebu functioned with a single giant turbine it would have flown terribly. The US military tried making Saucer shaped craft using turbine propulsion and they were laughably bad at flight. A disk/saucer shape has terrible aerodynamics, and likely only works for UFOs because they utilize some kind of highly advanced propulsion like gravitational manipulation.

Very well researched. I always love that you will give what would be considered a "rational" explanation as to what truly went on, but here's some food for thought: why are we for the most part NOT allowed to go down there??? In fact I believe you will be arrested!!!! You either need to be on a cruise (which you never make land fall) or you have to have a special permit for wildlife or be a scientist. Also if I remember correctly it's only a small portion of the continent you can visit/see. I did find out that if you are VERY wealthy person or possibly it's just the 1% you can go to a "hotel" and stay a few days. I honestly can't remember how much but most people would NEVER be able to do this and again I'm not sure where this place is but am assuming it's somewhere that is still very restricted. My point is after that long rant lol why the hell is there so much secrecy around what is mostly ice???!!!!

My Father worked forNorthrop in the1950,60and70s. In the Nortronics division located in Anaheim Calif. In the early 70s, he was involved with an expedition to the south pole. The equipment was designed to see through the ice and what beneath. My Father asked what the explorers had seen under the miles of ice. The leader stated that they all saw Monsters under the ice. No further explanation was given. So these trained explorers know what dinosaurs are and that not what they meant when the answer they gave was Monsters under the ice. I've speculated for all these years what Monsters might be. If anyone has any further information, I would be interested.

I really wish we could've seen what Nazi scientists could've developed if given proper time and resources. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that humanity would be far more advanced than we are currently. After all, in addition to the innovations you mentioned, they also built the first jet fighters, they were among the first to build an assault rifle that an army could afford to arm every soldier with, and they built some of the finest examples of pretty much every form of technology available at the time. Then there's crazy shit like the Ratte. The Nazis were evil, but they had some fantastic minds working for them

I mean, it's 1947, the first true Intercontinental bombers like the B-36 Peacemaker were just about to hit the production lines and the B-29 and it's derivative the B-50 already could make one-way trips from bases from the Americas to Europe in a time of war if that was ever needed, Admiral Byrd's comments about attacks from Antarctica are probably concerns he gained from how powerful long ranged bombers were becoming and he was already a season polar explorer doing trips to both poles before the war.

This is the thing about German advanced weapons during WW2 - they were very advanced for their time and were indeed the prototypes for modern weapons of the post war era. They had a working ship to ship missile for example and were at least theorizing about laser guided missile technology. However. The Third Reich was a Byzantine mess of corporate rivalries vying for the blessing of the Nazi Party, which itself was a fractured and labyrinthine structure of cliques and cabals striving for power under the Führer. The lack of concerted efforts coupled with very questionable economic policies and the ongoing Allied bombing and sea blockade crippled German ambitions quite comprehensively. They had so many insanely advanced ideas and blueprints, but the claim that any of these could have been put into production and manufactured in numbers able to shift the tides of war "in just a few months of further experimentation" is simply flat out false. Everynew weapon system has to be field tested thoroughly and if it revolutionizes the conduct of war, its users must be trained in new ways of fighting and tactical and strategic doctrines must be established - and this takes years even in peacetime. The reason Germany did so well WW2 was that they had learned the lessons the wonder weapons of the age had shown them in WW1, and spent the 20s and 30s researching, developing and training to use them. The rest of the world had to catch up during wartime, and comparative casualty ratios for the Allies and the Axis speaks its stark language about what that entails. This was overall a great speculative video about a very cool subject (sorry), but the truth bout any super weapons developed during WW2 is that the Americans made the only one that really mattered. And they did it using a lot of brilliant minds who had fled the murderously mindless regime of the Nazi party.
@DrewPicklesTheDark

So you say the Germans made a bunch of hi-tech shit, then say they were mindless?
@rangda_prime
@rangda_prime 4 жыл бұрын
@@DrewPicklesTheDark What? No, not at all. Let's see if I can clarify: Germany had a great deal of very talented researchers and scientists. They pioneered a lot of new tech, and some of it was developed to the point where they were either ready to be used at the start of the war, such as tanks, tactical bombers, lightweight and usable radios at low levels of command. And they were on the cusp of developing and to some extent managed to deploy working prototypes or first generation weapon systems of other kinds, such as the first surface ship launched anti-ship missile, the first cruise missiles and the first jet fighters. However, these prototype innovations were not devolved enough to be war winning in and of themselves, and the effort to produce these cutting edge new weapon systems was severely hampered by the inefficiency not of the German researchers themselves, but by the compartmentalized and plot-ridden structure of the Nazi government. The American government for example managed a degree of cooperation with its big tech firms to procure new designs, make contracts and make sure the new weapons were delivered on time and in working shape. The Nazi regime never had this level of cohesion, with inter-company and personal rivalries and currying for the eye of the Führer hampering the kind of large scale, multi-institution projects that would have been needed to put the next generation of super weapon in the hands of troops who were trained on their use and had tactics and doctrine worked out beforehand. And to be clear, this next generation of weapons that could conceivably have been deployed had the German government not been the infighting mess it was would NOT have been flying saucers with heat rays. It would have been guided anti-tank, anti-air and anti-ship missiles deployed from tanks, artillery platforms, submarines, jet aircraft and infantry troopers. If would have involved supersonic velocity kinetic anti-air missiles and fully automatic assault rifles for all troops. It would have perhaps even have made use of synthetic rubies for laser guided munitions. There were working prototypes of IR night fighting equipment that could have been refined and put to use in fully realized Nachtjäger doctrine which would have put the Allies severely on the back foot and mitigated their air superiority since it would have allowed German troops to not only move, but to fight a night. The Germans were not mindless. But things are complicated, especially when you deal with entire nations. Their technological potential was squandered and not fully realized until after the war. And by being a repressive anti-semitic regime, they drove away scores of highly educated Jewish Germans, many of whom assisted the Allies with their projects. The US developing the atomic bomb seems very unlikely without the self inflicted German brain drain. But these gifted refugees were not building flying saucers and heat rays either.

Good video. Though I suspect that the American expeditions to the South Pole were really expeditions to the North Pole. A way to test their extreme cold weather capabilities without freaking the Soviets out. After all, American fleets hanging out on your Northern doorstep is gonna put you on edge if you're the USSR. Thus the South becomes a kind of substitute for the North. Why did the first expedition turn back earlier than planned? Could simply have been that they weren't actually prepared for the weather, despite thinking they were. Wouldn't be the first time. The comments of the fellow also make sense in light of this, to some degree.

Germans having a secret base in an isolated area of the world where they've developed advanced technology isn't that hard to believe. It was a German robot, Joker, that lasted the longest (although still not long enough to accomplish anything) on the roof of Chernobyl's fourth reactor during the cleanup; an area so radioactive that it fried the circuits of every machine put there. There's no denying that they're technology is impressive, and one can only imagine how much more impressive it could be if it was the sole focus of a hidden base. As for the soviet report, all I have to say is "cool story comrand."

Upon viewing this again, I looked up what he said and he mentioned aircraft flying over polar regions, not exclusively the South Pole. This leads me to the conclusion that he meant attacks of Russian bombers flying over the North Pole. This was a real threat and lead to a chain of radar instillations in the far north of Canada (DEW line, etc). Conducting a military expedition in Antarctica, which included a large number of aircraft, would have allowed us to test our equipment in extreme cold without looking like an attack force as it would have looked if we had formed it in the Arctic.

The lack of darkness in Antarctica would not be a unusual phenomenon for Icelandic sailors. I doubt that they were sleep deprived due to that.

The Antarctic wasn’t always a cold, frozen land with permafrost. Geological evidence shows that the present place in the Southern Hemisphere is a recent phenomenon and that the Antarctic was like any other warm place capable of housing civilisation. And many artifacts and other evidences actually prove this point, one being the piri reis map... Germans should have dominated WW2 and decimated the allied forces if they had enough time on their side. Anyway scintillating narration!!!... worth time spent on this!!..
