I think En Garde also accounts for recoil damage like from Atk/Spd Push or Fury. In some cases, this can help with survivability, but it can also be detrimental for units like Celica because of her refine effect or Tene with her tome requiring her HP < 100%.

I doubt it, but it could. Only reason I doubt is because its a Seal, so it'd essentially be a +3 to every stat of his for no downside. Mainly Atk, Def and Res would be huge. But its possible.

You asked who still uses savage blow and poison strike. I have a Fallen Takumi that has windsweep, savage blow and the poison strike seal. I regularly use Takumi to weaken bulky units before I kill them. I also have a Kronya team I run them as a pair in. Has not seen much use lately, but there were three teams last week that I got used beat with it.

Him being infantry is really good cause he only has one weakness and also he gives en guard to everyone so he doesnt need to be a save unit since poison strike or bolt isnt gonna work on any of them. Also they are still very common in summoner duels and AR so he's gonna be very strong for those match ups. Pretty strong mythic if you ask me, not game breaking but neither was triandra and I think in some situations he's better to have on AR-D than her

Medeus is really the last major Archanea character to be added. I guess Nyna as well, but she's a non combatant (not that that stopped us from getting Rinea or Merlinus). Medeus looks interesting, but I doubt he'll replace Nótt.

I see some folks theorising that his en garde effect might negate recoil damage from fury/push skills. Whilst possible, I don't reckon this will be the case since this is usually classed as 'after combat' damage as opposed to 'out of combat'.

I think en garde is actually quite broken, or at least, prevents strats from those on higher levels of AR rely on. Bolt tower is really good and may encourage vantage setups and makes galeforce strats much easier. I personally don’t run bolt tower (as I hate how each structure takes up space) but I’ve seen lots do

The save ball teams are going to get more annoying. They're easy to deal with if you bring a pain+savage blow ×2 healer, but this removes that option. I guess I'll have to build someone who can kill e.g. Bedelgard/Bector/Idunn/etc

What if I run double Fury? That's 14 damage reduction with a +7 boost on each stat. Imagine a unit with that plus +15 dragon flowers, S summoner support, resplendent, and +10 merge. That's +18 on each of the stats

En Garde is actually a really big deal - for AR-D, probably the strongest overall archetype (Even post-Elimine) is Saves + Bride Catria. The most significant counterplay to that was Bolt Tower (Which, honestly, was quite a cheesy way to win). He shuts that down completely - if someone wants to beat that sort of team archetype on Dark now, hope you've got a unit that can overpower a Hardy Fighter Save, or tank a Bride Catria boosted nuke.

You don't need to be a whale to run a good Catria ball on defense. This new mythic shores up the biggest weakness of those teams by shutting down bolt tower. Don't sleep on this if you use bridal Catria.
