I usually turn it down a bit for my player alone as well. You cant command an army if random crossbow/arrow fire screws over the coordination of your army.

@@Manpigeon nah. Knowing that a single arrow might screw you over is part of the fun. I'm a fan of games being realistic where you (the main character) isn't overly OP. And no, I'm not a masochist. But hey, we have our game difficulty preferences, so no hard feelings.

@@Alex-pq1sj I'd be inclined to agree with you if the AI party leaders had the same penalties as the player when they get downed but they really dont. I dont actively fight on the front lines in my army and rarely ever did even in Warband.

I'm more of a charge monster when I finally command my cavalry and infantry to attack. believe me I've been jacked and impaled by spears, lances, arrows, and javelins while horseback. most of them got me with only one strike. and the awe I feel every time that happens is oddly satisfying for me I dunno (i'm not a masochist). Maybe because of the fact that I'm equally vulnerable as my troops gives me the sense of realism in a real battle.

When you are outnumbered, place your infantry behind your archers. It forces the enemy to charge. Have your infantry charge at the last possible second (before they reach your archers). Give your calvary their own command with F6. They will either flank your archers or skirmish against the enemy archers. You can defeat enemy armies twice your size and larger.

also while your shield is up use "E" to shield bash. since you like to use a lance this will give you some separation to make use of it. and if you use "Z" when your horse is stopped you can get off without having to look down and potentially take an arrow to the head

when i started my own kingdom many times i faced against double bigger army than i had but i have more quality soldiers and my favourite Sturgian and some Battanian infantry troops for my shieldwall , archers also Sturgian and some cavalry and i won :) i just like Sturgian and Battanian units they are by many people underestimated but i like them more than imperial units

Trey Bomber this is my play through as well. Have 4 wars going at all times. Sue for peace. Pay 300k then get declared war on by the same faction again 2 days or less later. Makes the game super frustrating and I’m always on the defence

ok sir, listen here. A lance is not a pike, you use a lance on horseback. A pike is so long that you cannot use it on horseback. Even the game gets the names right. If you get killed by a horseman you get lanced. and later they will put your head on a pike.

You should use your Cav to follow you and hit archers once the skirmish lines have been drawn. Because you’ll either kill the archers or distract them and your archers and infantry should beat the enamors infantry.

I’ve learned this is all you have to do to win literally every army battle. - Shield wall with archers behind, cav on the flank - Shoot first enemy wave then counter charge after 5-10 seconds of engagement - Reform form for second wave (if there is one) - Rinse and repeat If the terrain is right you lose 10-20 men and the enemy loses 1000

Another good tactic is scattering the enemy shield wall when it gets within reasonable range with cavalry, pull back cavalry, advamce your own shield wall to bait in the mass of unorganized troops and let archers do bulk of the damage.

Apom Taylor as of right now they’ll charge your infantry, most of them will and I say this because one time I had cav on the side waiting and some looters maybe four or five decided to try to fight them. But then again the game is in early access.

The best Army i could fit together was 160 Imperial Bucellari (Cav. Archers ) and 20 Imperial Cataphract + Companiaons with horse. 1 Full 190 Men Horsearmy. All i do is stand on a Hill and fire if the enemy in range is. Then 1x Charge + retreat to another hill on the other side of the Map. then let the enemy get closer and fire again. Another charge +retreat. I easy could take down armys of 300-400 without 1 loss. Cav Archers are so overpowered.

I'm actually excited that they are taking their time, bethesda's previous policy was to release the game after 3 years of development no matter what, its why all their games have incomplete quests that were abandoned. If they take the time to do it right we might see something new.

ESO why don't you play total war Warhammer 1 or 2 they are great strategy game's. Also the 3rd already in the making. You should definitely check them out you mite enjoy them but I'm biased because I'm been playing the table top game and painting for 12 glorious years of war and conquest lol. why is your melee unit line this far in front of the archers? seriously asking - maybe i need to improve my play thinking is: take them back a few feet, especially in the beginning of the face off, so your opposition needs to come closer also: absolutely leaving your archers to be butchered by their cav isnt it your head in front of the kill feed is also ... well ... not THAT good

I own the original and all the expansions. Got into them off and on over many years. After all this time in development the 2nd one just doesn't excite me. It's just doesn't seem like the gameplay looks or feels "new". It's as if someone just remade the original with "better" graphics. That's fine if that's what you expected from it.I guess I was hoping for a bit more than what it turned out as.

My problem is that i was a vassal of the Vlandians and i am the ruler of Lageta and Veron castle. I did the quest Neretzes folly at the beggining of the game and talked to both Istiana and Arzagos and i got all the options (Create my own non imperial kingdom,Create an imperial faction, those quests). I had no other option but to leave the Kingdom of the Vlandians and of course keep my fiefs and they declared war on me. I went to Arzagos and i only had the option which stated something like " I will give this banner to my self, as the ruler of the my kingdoms name and when i do that the quests are finished and im still at war with the Vlandians any help pls.

you know...shield wall is good for defense only ,against archers and cav charge but is useles against inf, when you see that enemy infantry is close just put them in line or order to charge because being in shield wall ,your soldiers dont move and enemies from sides easily kill them . Its not total war, shield wall working diferently in this game.

You need to learn how to move your troops around. You loose way too many. Also, there is nothing wrong with charging the archers. They actually pick up arrows and continue to shoot.

One thing to keep in mind if you have more then enemy then you are going to be attacker don't wait just charge and if you less troops then enemy then your are defender wait and they will come to you
