One day delivery in UK
@davidt843824 күн бұрын
One of the worst experiences is when you don’t get your package and you go to check where it is, you find the purchase says it was delivered. You might have sat at home watching all day for your package and saw the mail truck drop off mail and then watched as the UPS truck or Fed Ex drove past your house and they never stopped to deliver anything but it still says your package was delivered. So you think you’re going crazy and you walk outside and pick up your mail and look around everywhere but nobody delivered anything. Then two days later while checking again for the fifth time it might change to say sorry your package has been delayed, you can expect it sometime in the next month. And this is all with Prime.

Yes this is happening a lot to me. Updates on Amazon slow to update. You wait in, the time goes by until hours later you get either we tried to deliver, no they didn’t, or it will be delivered eventually. I’ve been on to their delivery dept multiple times. I sometimes send a parcel to a Locker. Twice I’ve had that they could not deliver. What on earth is the excuse that they can’t get it in a bloody locker. My son reckons they just can’t be bothered to get out and deal with it. I agree with him. Deliveries in general seem to have become dreadful. My most annoying times are one particular delivery woman doesn’t come to the door at all (door cam) and just puts it in my recycling bin 🤮 This is not a safe place. I’ve chased various places the company, the delivery place. Gone online to try to stop this practice. The problem is that once “delivered” it’s my responsibility. One of these packages had over £200 worth of goods. It stayed in my bin for 6 hours. The delivery company normally sends an email saying delivered with a photo. Didn’t get that. Neither did the website say delivered. I was stomping as you can imagine. After being in “chat”, you can never get to talk to someone, it was all sorted within about an hour. Rant over 😂

Research what Walmart has done to the grocery stores in every city, how much they pay their employees and the work environment they have. Walmart's buying power (Costco is like this also) pushes the prices down so low from all major brands that these brands then make the middle-size and small-size buyers (local grocery stores) pay higher prices to make up the difference in lost profits. They essentially drive all other grocery stores out of business. And Walmart used to be affordable, but they are increasing their prices faster than inflation also. Now it's cheaper to shop at Asian, Latino and Aldi/Lidle stores than Walmart. Stop shopping at Walmart for stuff you can get at other stores for less money.

Sad. I'm over 80 years old and have seen this game played many times. You can go back to the telephone companies years ago. They had to be split up but gradually, after the split, wound up rigging things again. So we'll see what happens this time. Why people always seem to wind getting greedier when they get wealthy.....go figure....seems like they would want to do some good with a lot of the money they have stockpiled.

@fullur Yes, and no. The problem with the phone companies is that it was the government that made those monopolies in the first place. In 1980 I used to pay 10c a minute to talk to people less than 15 minutes away by car - more for out of state. By the 90s all those fees were gone, yet people were griping that I shouldn't believe my lying eyrs and that deregulation raised prices.

I remember when Amazon only sold books. The books were well wrapped and very secure in the box to ensure it wouldn't be damaged. Amazon even would throw in a few pieces of candy as a treat. Those days are LONG gone. It used to be a great place to buy items, but not anymore. When I buy anything now, I search the internet to see if it's available elsewhere. If it is, I'll buy it without using Amazon. Greed...they got too damn greedy and I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

It’s like Netflix-only worse. There was a golden age of streaming. There was also a golden age of Amazon when it was more pro consumer than not. Antitrust action is warranted. Capitalism is great when it’s balanced with strong regulation; otherwise it eats the competition, then when it’s the only game in town jacks the prices on both seller and buyer. That’s where we’re at now. Eventually when big enough it buys favorable government regulation by paying for political favor. We’ve seen it all before in other industries… pharmaceuticals, fossil fuels. Once it reaches that point the little guy doesn’t stand a chance.
@scotta.5681Ай бұрын
Don't forget that it's also partly due to consumers having unfair expectations at times. People got too used to the quick returns or using things and than expecting a 100% return. It goes both ways. Amazon getting too big for their britches and consumers expecting no repercussions for their own buying habits. Honestly, I have no issue with prime and I'm very picky about what I buy. I spend a lot of time making sure I'm getting the best deal I can and I order things to ensure I get the fastest shipping and lowest prices. Being a smart shopper is important no matter where you buy. And I've never had an issue with returns. They refund my account and I make sure I take care of the item I'm returning. I also take pics of something if I have concerns. Consumers need to take some responsibility for the issues.

Amazon had me take pic’s and, based on that, interpreted that they would refund only 6 jars of value. There was Vegemite everywhere, and all jars were broken. About 12 of them were decapitated, the other half caved in. It was an FBA fulfillment by Amazon order, 3 days late incidentally , and I am certain the seller took the hit. The jars were not packed, but simply thrown into a box with no bubble wrap, no protection at all. If you are a merchant, build your own site and think of other additional channels of sales. After 3 purchases I finally had to pay for my 6 cans of nacho cheese. They would just toss 6 #10 cans in a box with a little paper packing on top and expect it to arrive in decent condition. They did not in fact arrive in decent condition, every time until the last every can would be dented at the least, and usually on the rim. Fortunately they had our back on those and refunded our money. The last item was an window AC, the delivery driver literally dropped it in my driveway, said the hell with it and left. Seller just ignored us when we sent a message saying that since it was an AC it was non returnable because of the refrigerant. In the end we got a refund and we kept the unit, its ugly, but the beauty of free makes it a lot prettier.

Beware of products on Amazon being shipped from China! I ordered some containers and they arrived all cracked and chipped/broken, when I requested a refund they said yes but I needed to pay the shipping charges to have the broken containers sent back even though there were no shipping charges to get it to me. The charges were more expensive then the containers, it was only $17.00 for the item but still that’s not the point, thank God it wasn’t more money. When I tried to leave a review to warn others I was told I was not allow to leave a negative review 😮 and the seller set it up so that I could not contact them. Also they keep changing the name of their store. Never ordering from China again!
@seandudley210729 күн бұрын
Indeed, you really need to pay attention to where the seller is located on Amazon. I sell as a 3rd party seller (not FBA) on Amazon, and now have Chinese sellers jump on the listings and listing for way cheaper prices than I can sell for. I did test buys to see what they were sending from all of these many Chinese sellers that jumped on the listings, and they are just sending light weight stuff that is cheap for them to ship, but isn't what was ordered. I tried to report it to Amazon, but Amazon said they didn't see any issue with the Chinese sellers ripping off buyers like that. It's crazy. So, now most of the sales on those listings go to the Chinese sellers who get the buy box due to their low prices, but they don't ship what the buyer orders, so it takes a long time for the buyer to then get some light weight incorrect item, and Amazon doesn't allow the legitimate seller of the item to do anything about it. On top of that, a lot of the buyers who bought from the Chinese sellers will then take it out on the listing saying they didn't receive what they ordered which hurts the legitimate seller of the item who created the listing in the first place. Once the Chinese sellers destroy the listing enough with bad reviews they cause, they just move on to other listings to take over and repeat.

Amazon prices aren't that cheap either and factoring in any postage kills the deal. Also, pre-ordering means NOTHING to them. I pre-ordered a CD from them and on the day of release, they said they couldn't get hold of it. Three months on I am still waiting ... I can't cancel as I would then get charged the postage on half my combined order. I can't order from elsewhere as the price has since doubled and I could end up with two. @kirkjohnson6638Ай бұрын
The simple answer is that it costs money to have other people gather the items in your online shopping cart, package them, and deliver them to your door. When you need a lot of stuff, especially heavy stuff, it makes far more sense to go to a local store in your car and do your own shopping because the money you spend on gasoline and the time you spend driving to the store and back are fixed costs. And delivery vans from Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, etc. seem to be be more limited by weight than volume. It's hard for Amazon to justify delivering cases of soda or gallons of milk because the profit on the sale doesn't justify the space and/or weight allocation in the delvery truck, but if someone orders a diamond ring, the profit is huge compared to the delivery cost. Also, even though we are paying for free delivery through our prime memberships, the prices of goods are also artificially high to reflect delivery costs. This is very evident if you compare the total cost of staples like milk. Amazon and your local grocer probably pay very similar amounts per gallon from dairies. If anything, Amazon would be paying less because their order quantities are higher. But Amazon will charge way more than you pay at your grocery store because they have to pack the delivery fee into the price. If they quoted separate shipping, everyone would say "screw that, I'm not waiting around for the deivery AND paying a lot for it when I can just hop in my car and be back in 20 minutes".

The only question by consumers should be: Is the price increase worth the product?

They don’t care..they get so much all year long. I’m back to buying local in order to keep local stores available. Might cost a little more but easy returns, friendly service and I buy what I need without adding a few extra items to cart. Grocery shopping in a small local grocery store saves me a lot. There’s not as many choices but has the basics without enticing me to buy an extra $20 on unneeded items.

Great Video. One thing that you didn't mention is Walmart. They are spending a massive amount of money to compete with Amazon, and they now have better and faster shipping to my home (which is in a rural area). Recently Amazon has implemented a chatbot that won't let you get to a human unless you type in something like "I am going to request a charge back from my credit card company". The Amazon AI then immediatlely connects you to a human. Walmart, on the other hand, has good old fashioned phone customer service. They refund quickly for problems, and they are generally better on getting things to me on time, including same day deliveries. How is Walmart impacting Amazon, and how does this affect the "monopoly" claim?

BS. You can report it to your Credit Card provider and cancel the transaction. Most likely you were cheating on Amazon.

@sircorn4248 no stupid. I spent 8 months fighting it. Mind your own business. Bot liar.

@happy They did the same with me in regards to computer parts and even though I disputed it my credit card company did not back me after months.

I recently ran into Amazons 30 day refund policy on returns. I've made multiple phone calls asking why my refund is taking so long. All they tell me is wait 30 days

So true. They block comments mentioning the price increase to hide their tracks.

Back in August Amazon delivered $2k worth of camera equipment to the wrong address and then tried to BLAME ME. I eventually got my refund but still, it was 3 weeks of fighting dumb arses at amazon.

Recently I've noticed items in Amazon are more expensive than eBay, walmart, Lowes or other online retailers.

I quit using ebay as much when I ordered an ebay product new, it took extra long to arrive and it came in Amazon packaging. I started checking both websites when I was looking for a new item.. eBay will list the same thing as amazon but a few dollars more.. so then they will list what they don’t physically have but when you order it from eBay then that seller quick orders it from amazon at the cheaper price and they make a few bucks yet don’t have to have the item on hand nor do they have to package or ship it. Tricky.
