My flight instructor told me to always be looking for possible places to land while flying

What a great teacher…I think I’d have learned more just from this video than I did in flight with my flight instructor re: engine failure

I really liked this video. I did have to laugh out loud for many minutes after you reminded us the best field to land in may be below us. You're right!!!

Thanks for the detailed info Victor. I have almost 7k too on pistons and 9 engine fails for almost the same reasons as you on valve train fails. But those fails of fuel systems are strange. Specially with auxiliary fuel pumps. I guess you fly mostly in humid areas where water is collected in the tanks, engines etc. and tank vents are blocked by insects. Humid Lowlands rust on machinery and insects can do a lot to airplanes. I'm I right or wrong? looks like you landed on flat fields and you know the area well too. Lucky or just good pilot? I only had 3 of them totally, 2 on twins Seminole, DC-3's but made it back to airport on all. Luck and training. On single a short wing Cherokee , at 500 feet turning crosswind with a student, I did a 180 turnback. no damages either. Student never came back. We are survivors. Cheers SuperPilot.

I like this video. Fly long enough you will have an emergency landing. I have 7000 hours an have made many. Second solo, PA-11: hydraulic lifter failure, beat one lobe of the cam to nothing. Broken valve spring: Once in Piper PA-25 once in Bell 47-G. Broken valve stem Bell 47-G4, Cessna 152. Failed fuel control: PA36-300. Failed alignment pin on crankshaft gear that drives camshaft: PA36-300. Failed fuel system: Cessna 140, Maule M-4, PA-12, PA-25. All landed fine with no damage to the aircraft.

victor hulbert 7,000 hours? Are you a commercial pilot? That's a lot of flying even over a span of 40 years (if flying for recreation).

@theodore, hopefully working to pay for fuel! Not to many fields to land in New England.

Hi Jason, thank you for a video! Hot days can decrease the drift and decrease my glide and distance if I lost power ??? Or just keep the better glide speed and I Will get most distance?

This video's been up for 25 minutes and I'm only the second viewer. Where'd all the M0A followers go?

Headphone users beware. That music at the beginning was so loud. Nice video though.
