I noticed I save a lot of energy when I lean forward more when I kick up. Makes the movement a bit slower or more controlled, because as soon as my hips are in line, I can start to control my feet alignment easier.

I found pressing with your fingers to help find the balance & then when I'm comfortable I try to balance between my Palms. And use my fingers as back up when I need them. I tend to use my fingers more when I do HSPU negatives with a 1 or 2sec hold at the bottom. 🤗👍🏾🔥🤙🏾💚

I had been using this method to move away from the wall, recently my instructor, Samantha Star recommended landing my hands 2-3" from the wall and kicking up. I think it forces you to align quicker--what are your thoughts on this approach?

Kick up to splatting into the wall was my main mistake when I started. It felt like I was going to fall on my head and at the same time cause extra strain on my wrists, which distracted me from needing to protract and then my arms buckled and ....i still fell on my head/side . Fun times, but got over it within a few days. "Everything you want is on the other side of fear" helped me overcome my fear of being upside down (ps , move your hands closer to the wall!

First thanks Tom for a another well executed video. Falling backwards? I use couch cushions to tumble over onto. My first year learning handstand I'd allways fall straight backwards onto the cushions. It's a very good athletic move(tumbling well)and falling straight backwards let's you fight a bit longer to hold your handstand.

I have one suggestion. Try to find a spot so that your hands and that spot make a triangle. Try looking at that spot continuously as you kick up. Never distract and find correct balance.

Hopefully not too late. I’m overweight and I can get a 5-10s handstand consistently with average attempts of 2. A tip I have is wrist mobility cuz what helped me kick up without needing much power is to extend my wrist, stacking shoulders on top of my knuckles. Just how I do it

I'm working on balancing myself without the support of a wall in a handstand position without the kickup at the moment. If I still need the wall's support, would that mean I need stronger arm muscles? I heard you need strong abs and arms for handstand, and I have especially weaker arms, compared to my leg muscles. Or, does it mean if I develop stronger abs, that can make up for weaker arms? Thank you!

Can you explain how we can fall BACK safely in handstand ? I am a beginner and I can not do the wheel movement. Is there a way to fall back as when we do HEADstand ? Because falling back while doing headstand is very easy, you just roll back. Can we proceed the same manner in HANDstand ? Thank you for your answer.

One thing I've been experimenting with recently is before I kick up having my feet as far toward my hands as I possibly can. This is awkward and more difficult but it forces my alignment to be almost already correct before I even kick up. It puts the hips closer to over the shoulders and wrists right at the beginning. Then you need less momentum with your legs as you kick up. Hopefully that makes sense. Maybe this is a pike to handstand?
