Today I went to get my acrylics taken off and the nail tech used an acrylic extension to dig underneath mine and peel it off. I said it hurt and he ignored me so I had him stop and get another nail tech. I insisted on using acetone and he kept fighting me on it saying it would take too long.

I had a nail tech use cuticle nippers to remove my acrylics. When I said it was painful the tech simple said "Oh it's not really that bad." I never went back. Now I do my own nails and hand file when I want to remove the acrylic.

That’s why I’m doing my own nails now, I’m traumatized by getting my nails off when I go to the nail salon. I’ve never had a tech that removed the product like that, they always rip off with a tip. Thank you so much for showing the right way ❤

Same. I paid $37 for a nail tech to remove gel tips with a carbide tip and drill only. Just hacked away. I waited for her to grab a hand file at some point. But no. I should’ve spoke up. My nails are super thin now. And I will not go back to any salon because I get the impression that this laziness is normal. Knowledge is power.

I think so many nail techs in my area do this. For so long I didn’t even know you were supposed to file them down. When I would ask them to properly remove it, they would even roll their eyes or give me a hard time. They don’t actually care about the integrity of your nails, they just care about the next customer and getting everyone in and out quickly.

ALL the nail places in our area(Midwest) use tips/floss & when you ask them not to do that they get angry because, yes it takes more time, but I’ve literally had part of my nail bed ripped off from being ripped off with a nail tip. I had to go to Urgent Care where they had to remove my entire nail😤🤬 which really hurt, EXTREMELY. But thanks to Suzie & her store I now can do them myself & have zero problems with ripping, thing/brittle nails or fungus growing under the product🤢. But to anyone reading this, they cannot rip off your nails, if they refuse to soak or buff off then get up & leave. Call around & ask nail techs how they remove nails & you’ll find someone who takes the time to do it correctly. I’ve lost four nails to nail techs doing it the “fast, so they can get more clients in way” & the other three were to fungus growing due to my natural nail trying to heal & being trapped under product & without your natural nail being able to breathe it’ll become infected. Hope this helps people, by scaring them, sorry😅 but don’t let it happen to you. It’s weeks/months of painful regrowth. And as always ❤ your helpful videos

For soak offs, I invested in a cheap USB mug warmer on Amazon. It warms my coffee cup (because I hate cold instant coffee) and it doubles as an acetone warmer in colder months, haha. Best $20 I ever spent.

My nail tech always uses a nail tip to remove my acrylic nail. At times it would hurt and she would just tell me not to move my hand so much. The nail tech did not care about my comfort level, she just wanted to be sure she was getting money to put on a new acrylic set. She did not care about the health of my nails. I no longer go to get my nails done.

Had a removable of acrylic nails. First soaked in acetone and then the nail tech used a nail tip to popped them off. It was painful and couple of my nails were sensitive. Thank you for sharing!

I've seen so many saying they use dental floss or something to pry them off ..I tell them every time DO NOT USE THAT METHOD.. YOURE TARING LAYERS OF YOUR NATURAL NAILS OFF . And it's always a good idea to do a base layer of clear to file down to rather that total removal every time because some change them every few days. And acetone is so harsh when used that often

Thanks for this education. I trusted the nail salon to know what they were doing. They were aggressive taking the acrylics off with a plastic nail tip and my nail bed was so sore. They used the file thing too and it must have been too high because my nails were burning. I'm doing my own nails from now on. I'm educating myself first.

I watched this video because I wanted my nails removed. Mind you, I've only had them filled less than two weeks. The person that did my nails I told her not too thick. I don't think she understood. Well, they were too thick and painful. Remarkably, one popped off. I'm glad I found your filing off method and soaking method. I used a combination of both, and it took me two hours still to get these off. My nail beds ache. I don't think I will be getting acrylics any time soon. Fine with me, I'll be saving money. I'll definitely baby my nails for now on.

I'm a soaker! I use gel, but when it's time to take any product off, I get patient, get some coffee, turn on some Netflix and get to soaking. The one time I used a file, I went to far and scraped up my natural nail because I couldn't tell what was product and what was my nail plate lol

Hi! I’m not a nail tech whatsoever but what I like to do is use a coloured (usually light coloured) gel as a base coat so I know when I’m filing near my nail :)

Watch out with soaking too long and too often, you can create an allergy for the acetone or other product that you use to soak it off. 😄

@@ankeoosterhof6006 If I'm not allergic to it now, I won't suddenly become allergic....idk why people have a habit of spreading this false info around. Acetone dries the skin, yeah, but it's not allergic reaction. Soaking is safer than drilling for people who are inexperienced with drills.

I just use the file off method out on the patio. Did all ten fingers. Going to put a new set on later. I've been doing nails for over 45 years. Will take me about 25 minutes to put a new set on and file! If I do somebody else it takes longer cuz I talk😂❤❤❤ thank you for the continued education you put out there for nail techs. I’m just starting to learn nails for real and I’m trying to decide between getting a nice dip kit or the apres gel system. I do like long nails but I have very sensitive skin/nails and the curing lights really hurt me. When I used dip in the past it was such a pain to remove.

I agree about the wait time to remove with acetone is a tedious process but I have to share a way that I was shown that if someone wants a total removal for whatever reason this worked very well for me. Just like you mentioned that warmth helps speed up the process. I would fill a large to medium bowl ( big enough to hold my hands)with quite warm water then put a couple pieces of paper towel in a large ziplock bag and pour about a 1/2 cup of acetone into the ziplock bag. Submerge the bottom of the bag in the warm water and place your hands into the paper towel soaked ( with acetone) and run your fingers into the paper towel. It’s just abrasive enough to run layers of product off in ( for me) about 10 min. ❤ love this video. Your looking great 😊 PS. I have even put a heating pad on low under the bowl of water to keep it warm.

@@NailCareerEducation Yes this works well on Gel and Hybrid gel even Dip nail products. This is where I first saw this method used. I did however used this method much like you but on my acrylic nails. I filed the top layer down to open up the product like you and just submerged and rubbed the product off. IT worked. I used to soak off the submersible method like you demonstrated I wanted to try the zip bag method on my acrylics to see if it would work too. And it did. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What are your thoughts on when they remove your nails by soaking / file / soaking / file / soaking , etc.? I used to not know any better so I thought the jamming a tip down in between was the only method, but the places I go to now do the soak/file/soak/file method. Hello Susie I have learned so much from you no I am not a tech just doing this for myself still learning its been two years and I am getting better at it I love the hard gel I tried the soft gel like it but to runny tried dips love it I am having trouble with the paper fourms I haven't tried acrylic yet that's my biggest one yet but loving the hard gel I do have problems with tips sticking with base gel I use my dehydrator and my prime but it stays on some but like 2 or 3 pop off unless I add nail glue then it stays on but I love doing nails just got a hand trainer i was doing practice on me but ruined my nails but other than that love doing my nails. But you are my inspiration and you are absolutely amazing thank you for the lessons ❤

Okay removal question so say gel polish or other enhancements etc the layers like base coat etc how do you know if you’ve removed them? Their clear so they blend right in with your natural nail which is obviously the point but sometimes I feel I don’t file enough or too much trying to figure it out. I used to wear gel all the time I do it at home but this kinda the only thing I’ve been stuck on and really damaged my nails going too far onto my natural nail I think. Live and learn but now I know dos and donts.

SAME!! I can’t wait around with the soak off method. I always file nails off with my KUPA efile that I’ve had for 2-3 years no. Never any issues with it. Anyways, I always file it off to a super thin layer of acrylic and then I use a mandrel bit. I prefer this a lot and dont like my skin being exposed and soaking in acetone. It just doesn’t Seem right and it makes my skim Feel very weird as it’s now ultra dry and just ew idk I hate that feeling when I tried soak off like twice. Never again. Takes too long anyways

I did that constantly and it ruined My Natural Nail. I had to keep them off let My Nails grow back. I added collagen and biotin to My Daily Vitamins and it helped so much in the growth.

What's the best way to remove custom press-ons? I'm using full cover tips with gel polish as well as a layer of builder gel for strength before top coat. I've been using a mix of soaking off and filing with my e-file on the lowest setting with a sanding band. But sometimes I do pop them off if they're lifting after soaking them in the acetone. Is that as bad as popping off a loose acrylic? Just want to make sure I'm not damaging my natural nails and that I'm using the recommended technique. Thanks!

Most hard gel you need to file cause it can’t be soaked off - so becareful you could be pulling too much - if it’s Hybrid you can soak. But filing is good to just leave a thin layer to protect

Having a positive relaxingrelaxing space/environment can also truly be beneficial to not only you but also your clients also changing of how the space functions and works things like that make your client feel relaxed 😎including yourself truly helps immensely. Nice music in the background or having individual separate areas cubicles-Separate individual rooms if you own business space your own salon where there is separate space for you and your client away from all the noise that can get very loud in salons if you build a business around having separate Areas almost like doctors offices but not boring and dull but like separate breakdown of spaces in your salon “ for example, kind of like Imosa lines of the year separate area, or a separate type of additional business that you add to your own like someone pacifically does waxing would be put in a separate part of the space a room or somewhere in the salon” basic, same concept, but a separate space for each individual nail tech in their client in your nail salon -business where it will instantly eliminate all that horrendous amount of noise and things like that an in thee quaint, beautiful nail room space that separated from the whole salon, the clients on oasis where you can give your clients phenomenal top notch experience you ask if they want to listen to music or watch something or maybe just share their day with you and speak about how their life is going or what have you Pour them a beverage where you have at least three options And this will help both you and the client have a amazing experience and atmosphere 🫶🏾👊🏾🎨💅🏽💕 As you grow and evolve as a business, there are all kinds of amazing ideas and things that you can do to improve the workspace for yourself, your clients, and if there is any others working in or around, you which will create a very positive environment that only will just grow your business From there on out 🫶🏾

This is my 2nd set of nails ever and the 1st set they removed by ripping the nail off. It ruined my nails so bad i had to go to a different salon and get another set put on. I never went back to the other place. It hurt and he cut my finger in the process of removal. I will definitely do this method with this new set I have now.

Where can I find full coverage nails that are on the wider side that don’t curl like they wanna scrape the floor? Lol I have some modelones for poly gel but I’m a nube at that and kinda just want to put on full coverage instead. My thumb sizes are the issue. They are too wide.

Great idea to leave a thin layer of clear or pinkish layer of acrylic or dip powder to save and preserve your real nails. Doing your nails on a regular bases, and having to roughen the the surface of your nails, thins them out each and every time.

I have been getting my nails done for the first time in 10 years and when I went to have them removed for a new set the nail tech took a nail tip to remove them and it hurt and it messed my natural nails up! Never again will i let them do that! This is much better and more effective than ripping them off!!

I wish I saw this video when my acrylic nails decided to lift off and take most of my beautiful natural nails. I can't afford to go to my nail salon the cost is getting ridiculous but I trust them it is just like my hairdresser I don't trust anyone but her. Sorry just went off the topic. I managed to salvage some of my nails (they were so soft and thin I literally cried) but the ones that didn't lift properly I soaked and having no acetone on hand I had to deal with just filing the darn left over gunk. Roll on this morning 2 nails down 8 more to go to make them look semi normal. My natural nails grow alot when I have acrylics but now I am going to leave them off as I think 4 months is just too long to have them on. I’ve messed up the “file down to the clear layer” so many times and ended up filing off layers of my natural nail. Big ouch! I just can’t see the difference between my nail and the layer to know when to stop. So, now I’m a bored soaker.

If you keep having that problem Then I would recommend you use a base layer that is a color different than your own. A nude that is not the same as your nail plate. That should hopefully help. Another thing is to switch to a mandrel medium or even low grit when you are at a thin layer and don’t know Which is your own. I would recommend that ! I do that all the time. I can Tell which is my mail but I rather be on the safe side and use mandrel. It always works out good 😊

Have you ever tried a peel off basecoat? I use it for my acrylic nails and it removes this process! It allows me to change my nails at least weekly :)

A nail salon near me uses tips to take them off and it really hurt and they pulled half of my pinky nail off and it was bleeding lot but they still put acrylic over

Just a curiosity question, bc I see a lot of people saying to give your nails breaks from acrylic/gel, can the nail breathe under the thin clear/nude/pink layer you keep on?

Your nails are composed of a protein called keratin. And your nails are essentially dead cells packed closely together, hence they don’t hurt or bleed when you cut them or file them. They don’t have lungs so they don’t need to breathe. I think when people say to give them breaks in between is in regards to prevention of overfilling (either from prep before your nail enhancement or from removal). The closer you get to the nail bed to more painful it’ll be, the keratin on top of the nail bed protects it.

I did the cotton acetone aluminium foil soak once for gel polish. My fingers were dry for more than a week... Never doing it again. I'll stick to filing.
