How to apply and blend tips for extensions

When you're wanting a natural finish on your extensions, this is how you blend in your tip. Next I will be covering product application with hard gel!

Hiya, thanks for the comment. I don't have a video for that. But what I do is place the file underneath the free edge, up against the finger tip. Make a mark on the file where the end of the nail is and go along all the rest to see if they are the same length.

could you use a regular clear nail polish on top of it? like is it necessary to use some sort of acrylic or gel on top of it?

Hiya, you can use regular polish on top, but it's not going to last very long and could cause damage to your nail underneath when it breaks. I have done them with just gel polish before, as just a weekend set. If you'd like instant length but no enhancements you should try full cover tips. They would suit your needs better. X

Hi! Late to the party with this vid. I’m having trouble blending enough to stop the lump showing through the gel where the well is, causing a “muffin top” nail. I noticed you used 2 files and a buffing block as well. What grit do you use for each step please? And are both the finer file and white buffing block essential? Thanks

Hi! I forget what I used here as its probably more than 5 years ago I posted this. Now, I would reccomend starting the blend with a 180 grit file to remove the bulk of the tip. Feather the umblended free edge section to the welled blended section so that it flows gradually. Then use a buffing block to finish until its an invisible blend. Make sure you're using a decent buffer, not a cheap rubbish one or an old used one. Hope that makes sense xx

Nect you would prime and apply the product you're using to build your structure. Acrylic or gel or polygel or whatever. :)

When my nails grow out to a comfortable length, (right now they've been torn past the nubs and thin asf, thanks to my friend telling me its a good idea to rip off full on acrylics, spoiler alert: bad idea,) I'll probably do this, lol. I've been trying to apply tips for weeks now, this seems like the best method yet. Thanks for sharing. :)

You used a lint-free wipe to clean up excess glue from seam of natural nail. Moistened with acetone, alcohol, or non-acetone polish remover? TFS

I didn't moisten it with anything I don't think. Just a quick swipe of the dry L. F. wipe you could use acetone tho. Thatd probably work better. Lol

Hi RiRi Ray! I have used colored tips in the past. But they are a little bit outdated now. You don't need to blend the seam on them, you only need to lightly buff the surface with a white/orange block. If you're using acrylic, you don't need to buff it, but with gel, it needs to be buffed. Xx

It is what I originally trained on, and I find they give the most natural look when blended like this. If I'm just going to paint the nails, I would use half welled.

+Dana Aerys You should always glue the tip on the nail before cutting it or blending it. Each finger is different so you'll get more even results this way x

Melanie English hi! My black files are 100 grit on one side, and 180 grit on the other. The white file I use is a really high (fine) grit. I think it's probably 240. Xx
