Thanks for the video Najaar. I was able to get all the holes drilled with the tapered drill bit. When drilling into steel, set your drill on a slow setting and only give half trigger. Drill for about 10 seconds at a time. Liquid cutting oil best, I got some multipurpose at Harbor Freight. Squirt on bit for about 2 seconds while spinning bit out of the hole to cool and lube bit. Spray not as effective imo. If steaming off while drilling its too hot. Can cool in cup of water too. Dab dry amd lube up. If you want to use a regular drill bit make sure you buy a carbide bit for steel. Same process to keep cool and lubed if you want the bit to last. Got my flag shirt today, it rocks!

Nice man thanks for the support! Yea I had a cup of oil I would cool it off in. Didnt work for me😂 oh well atleast I got it done after a couple hours 🤷♂️

@@NajarOffroaddoes this kit get rid of the tie rod end side death wobble? Didn't want the one ton set up if this kit will do just fine especially for the price difference
@shanekemmer50557 ай бұрын
Just got done installing the whole kit and tracbar. Luckily my reemer made it through all 4 holes with no problem. I used pb blaster and went slow. My damn rubicon wheels hit the draglink on the passenger side though. Had to stack washers up to get it outof the garage and order spacers

Did you need wheel spacers for this ? Trail forge is saying minimum 5” backspacing

Yea I have the jk 17s and didn’t have enough room. I got 1.5 spacers from iron rock. A pair was 40 bucks I think. And they’re hub centric.

Hey man the steering seems to keep hitting each other do I just move the drag link up and tighten the jam nuts more
@NajarOffroad Жыл бұрын
Yes that exactly what you need to do. Hold the draglink up with like a bungie cord or piece of wood and point the heim joints down towards the front of the jeep and tighten the jam nuts. This will hold the draglink up.

WD 40 is water based will not provide proper cooling. I use used oil for drilling steel. Always keep at least a quart of used oil from oil changes.
@NajarOffroad3 жыл бұрын
Yea I was actually using some new oil also didn’t get that on video but trust me I had oil everywhere after I was done😂
@pennypackmtb25423 жыл бұрын
I was going to say something similar. WD40 is a solvent designed to be a water deterrent and is not an oil. It can be used as a lubricant, but because it is a solvent it will dissolve any grease or oil that may already be there. As for a drilling lubricant it is too thin based to really help well.

Installed in my 99, have it over the knuckle with the trail forged track bar but in the stock mounting bracket. Steering is all messed up and seems to be binding. Is this because it needs to be mounted under the knuckle? TIA
@NajarOffroad Жыл бұрын
Yes Exactly! Stock location on the trackbar means you need to have your Drag Link and Tie Rods Under the Knuckle. What you need when doing steering is for the track bar and draglink to be parallel and the set up you currently have does not make it parallel

Why do you need to drill out the pitman arm. Couldn't you run a ball joint on that end of the drag link
@NajarOffroad3 жыл бұрын
Because the bolt is a 5/8th bolt for the heim. This is what’s included in the kit or you go do the 1 ton swap without the heims but still requires to be drilled out
@chadshosten57692 жыл бұрын
Why can’t you run the steering OTK with the heavy duty trac bar?

Hey Najar! Big fan of the channel, I’m in need of some upgrades on my steering components, I saw in another video you were saying you would go without heim ends if you were to do it again. What was your reasoning? I want to get the trail forged kit but it gets expensive real quick….
@NajarOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brendan! Yea the kit is worth it! Heims do make noise when you hit a bump since they more freely. Also some states for inspections don’t pass with heims. Also if you need a replacement you have to order online vs a one ton tre you can purchase at any local parts store

Heims vs the one ton tie rod ends. The one ton is better for daily driving also easier to get the ends at any local parts store compared to heims
@MegaMarclar2 жыл бұрын
Wow. Well that's definitely how (not) to use a reamer, or a drill.. lol. Should have just used the drill bit for each hole. Problem is your spinning the bit WAY to fast and cooking it. Need to use slow speed.. reamer is for opening up a taper to a larger diameter, not to drill both directions to enlarge a hole, that's why yours got destroyed in 4 holes...
