I've had a couple of those years ago. They look impressive, but I like having more control over the outcome of my recordings, and those decks don't give you much. If you're going to have one, DON'T get the fluroscàn meters, they're a NIGHTMARE to get repaired and expensive. Gave up on big Naks and settled for an LX3 with a hotrodded power supply, I'm 😎 👍!

@Round2Audio True, but if you've had enough of them, you KNOW that ALL Naks AREN'T created EQUAL! I have a Technics deck that I've had since 2010, that'll EASILY give Naks a run for their 💰, it's ANCIENT, but it wasn't CHEAP in it's day!

i have both and i live in Europe the Pioneer was more expensive than this and a year younger ,as an example in early 80´s i bought the dragon because i couldn´t aford the high-end akai also had the ZX-9 that was more expensive than this one , but i think this was better built than the other two i refer from nakamichi

Thanks, It is interesting to learn how pricing varied by market. For US pricing I use the October annual equipment issues of Audio magazine, which are available on the WorldRadioHistory.com. For a comparison to the Japanese pricing I'll use the Audio-Database.com. I don't know a source for historical European pricing.
