#suggestion On the top left of every video can a single word be written mentioning format.. Like "blitz" or "rapid" or "classical". This way viewer will know it in advance and can anticipate depth of the move accordingly. Like in this case, Carlsen also had some better moves available but we came to know it's blitz in the end. So this explains they had so little time available.

Nakamura's face when he saw his mistake was priceless. This was a brutal beatdown by Magnus, he almost adopted Hikaru. Magnus ended up with a rating of 3135 at the end of the match. That's a record.
@SuedeStonn
@SuedeStonn 6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it a beatdown since Carlsen was the one who was on the downside in the middle game. If Carlsen was slapping Nakamura around like a redheaded stepchild from start to finish, called checkmate, then reached across and gave Nakamura a vicious forehand slap to the side of the head knocking him out of his chair, then yeah, I'd call it a beatdown.

I thought Naka had a winning record in speed Chess? And didn't the video say that Naka often had better positions? Wouldn't this imply that it wasn't a beatdown? In theory, Magnus is not the best player in the world, I wonder. He just plays the computer moves. That doesn't mean he's the best natural player or fastest. But, I guess Chess is just computer-Chess now. Take Magnus back to pre-computers, then he won't do so good. Have to judge all elements.

@@ciaranmoogmcneill1001 to be better than someone means you are better. If I kill you in a fight because I pulled out a gun and shot you that does not make me a better fighter. If I win a game against magnus carlsen once in my life that doesn't mean I'm better than him. There are endless times someone that's worse than their opponent beats their opponent due to differentiating variables. Nc6 followed by Nxc6 d5xc6 Kb8 Kb5 Kc7 and now white has no more good moves. His pawn at c6 is blocked by the kc7, a7 is guarded by the bishop on f2, and promoting pawn to b8 does nothing as black king will simply capture.

8:37 What about Kc6? It defends the b8 square and gives check, forcing black to take on c6 with the knight. It would give white 3 passed pawns and white would be able to queen at least one of them. And if the king runs then b6 promoting to queen, which is also protected with the knight.

With move h5, he threat h5xg6, Nakramura must h7xg6 and the black king side will be....clean Why not bh7 (8:42 ) ??? 8:36 Carlsen would’ve simply played knight to C6 checking the king. If the king moves he gets a free queen, if knight captures pawn captures and you have 3 pawns you can’t stop with a king
@zlozlozlo
@zlozlozlo 6 жыл бұрын
At 8:40 Bishop to H4 is not a winning move. If Bishop to H4, then Knight to C6 check, and black has exactly 3 moves available: King takes on A6, King to B6, and Knight takes Knight on C6. The first two result in White immediately getting a queen. Knight takes Knight on C6, exchanging Knights, creates three passed pawns which, like you said, are unstoppable. Black has to play King to B8 or Bishop to D8 immediately to prevent C7 with Queen on the next move. White King is nearby to help force the push and black doesn't have time to push the G6 pawn. What am I missing?
@zlozlozlo

OK I've played this against the computer and it turns out after the Knights are exchanged, Bishop to D8 is followed by Bishop to C7, blocking the pawn on C6 and protecting the black pawn chain. Turns out I really do suck at chess.

Good point. From there a simple Bc7 next move guards the queening square and the black King can gobble up all the pawns. Meanwhile, white King can cross the board to gobble up g-pawn. It looks like a draw - kings wind up competing for the remaining pawns. The bishop can't really help since white's pawns are on white squares, but I could be missing something like in so many of my own games.

I am not even close to being good at chess, but why in 8:38 white don't just play Nc6+? Because after 1. Nc6+, Nxc6 2. dxc6 Black can move his h4 bishop to d8 then to c7 guarding the promotion square and protecting his pawn chain. This frees blacks king to stroll around the board and gobble up whites pawns. The reason the three passed pawns were winning in the other situation was blacks bishop was not on h4 and unable to come to d8 immediately.

I think I understand 8:36. Why nc6 won’t work. After check, black knight captures, and white pawn recaptures, black can move his bishop to b8 and block white pawns to advance. Then black pawns can advance....?

they trade knights, then Hikaru plays Bd8, white can't push his c pawn, white king can't get into the game as easily too. after white's next move, black can play Bc7 to protect the Queening square and then black king can proceed to pick up the white pass pawns. if white chooses to protect the pass pawns with his king, black can also push his g pawn to open up for his f pawn to queen.

Hello everyone! at 8:38, why can't white just play Nc6? From there it can defend the queening square, and if black responds with Nxc6 (which seems like the only reasonable move) then dxc6 and those three connected passed pawns look unstoppable. Am I missing something?? edit: I see that after Nc6, Nxc6, dxc6 black can defend by playing Bd8, and white's king cant infiltrate through d5 because of Bc7 blocking white's passed c pawn and not allowing Kxd6 gobbling up blacks pawns.

@masterchief5603

No it's not. I am late to tell this but anyways, Nc6 will cause a trade between knights and once the pawn takes the black's knight then black will simply have a pass pawn with bishop. This means that white will have no way to check black king and white king cannot do much but will be having a losing position as well as low material. So therefore, Nc6 is a mistake, or blunder you can consider anything of it. I hope it helped you.😁

At 9:07 can't Magnus play Nc6+ , attacking the king, the knight and b8? if the black king moves to b6 after Nc6+, white promotes the b7 pawn. if the knight takes the checking knight then simply the d pawn takes back, planning c7 then b8=Q. if the bishop goes back to b6 preventing c7, can't Magnus bring his king to d5 trying to go Kd6. Now if the bishop goes to c7 blocking the white king to go to d6, then Ke6, planning Kd7, then Kc8, then b8=Q. after white makes the move Kd7, attacking the bishop the blackKing goes to b6to protect the bishop and white, as planned, goes to Kc8. But if the K doesn't go to b6, then Black has to go Bb8, but that doesn't work because c7 is coming then the b or c pawn Queens. after that doesn't Magnus have a completely winning position?

I don't understand why at 8:41 white didn't move their knight to c6. It would have checked the king on a7 and forced black to either capture the a6 pawn with the king to escape check, allowing Carlsen to get a queen, or capture the white knight with the black knight on d4, allowing the white pawn to capture the black knight and guaranteeing a queen that way.
