Simply put ; no mistakes allowed.
Incredibly frustrating and difficult matchup to go against naked, but I achieved the task. I wanted to do this with Strength Hammer first but god I'm so sorry Strength fans... This matchup is just not friendly at all for Strength. I would need infinite Wirebugs to be able to do something. I'll make it up to you with another Strength run.
Courage's incredible synergy with Water Strike is what strongly carries it in this matchup even with no armor. Primordial Malzeno's moveset is built with a lot of single hits that can easily be parried by Courage Hammer for some short punishes.
Some of my many failed attempts at this came from the final phase non-scripted moveset. I'm not kidding if I say that I have seen this thing do some nightmarish patterns I have never seen before, such as sending a bunch of homing Qurio balls at me while at the same time doing the tempest tunnel attacks which is like... I fainted to that and had no idea how I was supposed to avoid it all.
This run was the winner because I almost completely bypassed that phase and dealt enough damage to Primordial Malzeno quickly thanks to Tigrex to force it directly into the scripted ultimate sequence. It's only after that that he went into his regular final phase moveset but, fortunately, he only did a couple of tail stabs, one hyperbeam and a pin attempt.
My only gripe with Primordial Malzeno is the inconsistency on some of its hitboxes and in particular the wing swipe, I know this move has a blind spot where it doesn't hit you for some bizarre reason but I do not trust it, which is why you'll see me use Keeping Sway every time through it, as the slightest uneven terrain could actually make the wing hit me. The aerial tail stabs are also really strange in hitbox and/or tracking, you'll see me stand still twice in this run trying to Water Strike the second aerial stab and somehow twice Primordial Malzeno completely misses me and I get a worse punish as a result.
I think this particular run is another milestone I'm proud of for the channel, sub 10 without armor is kind of nutty and I'm very very happy with the run in general, I kinda got to showcase almost all my strategies on this fight and in particular the ways I punish some of his attacks such as his shield bash+spear stab combo.
With a lot more practice I could probably get the time down a bit but there's a lot of downtime in general waiting for him to do attacks since he's all over the place that waste a bit of time, and some of the areas he fights in are particularly small and a bit frustrating.
The randomness of the other monsters in the map also comes into play, I actually got really lucky Tigrex went into the stairs area, as I was going there just to force Primordial Malzeno into another area and get the crabs damage and was not expecting to use Wyvern Ride with another monster in this run.
My game looks really good in this video, the DOF in this game is actually pretty solid and I wonder why I never used it before except a single time in the EX Shagaru+Valstrax video. Maybe I'll use it more in the future it does add a little something.
While mixing audio levels around the different segments of Malzeno's theme for this run it really made me realise.... Holy shit, this theme is actually so incredible. There's a lot of little details I never noticed in the song that have made it so much better than it already was, in particular the organ melody you can hear in the background in the segment from 7:17 up to 7:30. I also got to mix in Malzeno's chase theme which is also incredibly good?? It's a shame you barely hear it in game.
Anyways, hope you'll enjoy it! Remember that I read all the comments on my videos, so feel free to give your thoughts. Don't forget to like, and please join my server if you wanna be part of the discussion around Wilds alongside myself and some cool members.
