Precisely what I always say about the tragedy Timothy Treadwell and Amy, Timothy at first huge 'respect' for bears, at the end his lack of 'respect' for them being a wild animal, their turf got lost in his delusional mentally ill mind and thus his and her demise. I hope they both rest in peace but I am thankful he said in this video that Timothy had no respect....the irony is too sad. The bear being shot is also not right by any means, it was being a bear.

David isn't there under some delusion that he must protect the bears; he's simply genuinely fascinated by them and wants to study them. David is a biologist whereas Timothy was just a nutcase. David uses electrified protective fencing around his camp, camps out in the open and carries bear spray. Timothy used NO such protection and deliberately camped in seclusion, hidden away from park rangers. David does not cross the line by trying to touch or physically interact with the bears whereas Timothy did. David complies with park policy by moving his camp regularly. Timothy deliberately defied park regulations. David knows when to leave. Timothy returned when most bears had started hibernation and the ones that remained were desperately trying to feed up for the long winter. There are many, MANY noticeable differences here.

6:45 never test an electric fence with the inside palm of your hand, if the current is strong enough your hand will close and you will be stuck holding the wire. if you have to test it use the back of your hand so your fingers don't close up on the wire. the best way to test for current is to use a long thin piece of grass - good advice from my grandfather may he R.I.P

Healthy, happy, well fed bears may be fine to hang out with. But when a bear has lost the ability to forage and eat, lost his habitat because he's too old to fight or breed...maybe has broken glass embedded in teeth and gums, is sick, injured, well then what? It doesn't matter how well you 'get along' with the healthy bears....it only takes one problem bear to end your life in a most gruesome and hideous way. Grizzlies don't kill and then eat you - you're alive for the beginning of their dinner and you ARE dinner. I hope he makes it out alive and doesn't get another bear killed as Timothy Treadwell did but ---I wouldn't put any money on it.
