The skimmed head isn’t the issue that’s done very commonly, it’s the fact that it’s been skimmed down to 16 thousands which is quite a bit but it worth the risk to install and see what happens rather than pay £6k first

I think the gaskets will do their job just fine the car will have slightly higher compression but as long as the clearance on the gaskets are fine and engine bolted to spec it should last the lifetime of the engine only thing I will say amg make reinforced head bolts I think the black edition or check victory road performance for h studs and they maybe compatible to this engine I would change them but no sweat these will be fine too ❤loving the content recently with this beautiful 😍 monster ❤

Glad you came back and talked about the skim size and the gasket issue. Was wondering are there no aftermarket gasket suppliers? Surely you can’t be the first person that’s had to skim a head on one of these?

I had a look couldn’t find any aftermarket gaskets for the M177 engine

Naturally on these engines I think people would just buy new heads. This isn't a budget engine as such and people will rather just fork out for replacements. I'm very very curious to see what happens though because this will undoubtedly increase the compression ratio on the engine, and by a LOT too, 1.5mm off the head is not a joke

@@BigHumz155 Why spend £6k when it’s not needed that’s the first thing, budget is out the question I was prepared to spend £20k on this build if I had to. 16 thou is not 1.5mm it’s 0.40mm. On race engines heads are modified to change compression to increase performance, unless you can tell me why I shouldn’t have done it exactly?

This is great project.. but what did happen to the engine to begin with? I did watch the first one, can't remember it if it was explained there. At least.. I would be "nervous" if the gasket did fail to begin with. Now with even more pressure (higher compression) because of the excessive skimming of the head. Do you know the difference in compression?
