If the appliance were to apply pressure on the pallette then wouldn't that resorb the bone being pushed causing a deformity? Btw love ur videos and they inspire me to be an orthodontist
@DrGregAsatrian5 жыл бұрын
That is such a great question! Typically you do not see any bone resorption bc just putting a force on bone isn't enough to cause it to resorb. I bet you're thinking.. then why do teeth work like that? It's because there is a periodontal ligament (PDL) that allows for the bone to be resorbed and the teeth to move

Man talk about the nance appliance being temporary as mostly told by doctors but my case has to be one of the darn rarest ones, TMJ. Class 3 Surgical is my case and I'm currently 30 months in my treatment since it started and still have about 2-3 more years to go. Mainly because I was a premaure infant. And so far I have had 4 Wisdoms extracted. And 4 impacted and crowded teeth extracted. 2 TAD implants full Lower arch and Upper arch braces alongside Nance appliance. My TMJ Surgery is due in this February or either March. There was a time where I wasnt even a wee bit afraid of how the surgery's gonna go and it's about 7-8 hours long. But now I feel like my anxiety and all sorts of OCD are kicking in man I just wanna break free from these chains in my mouth! 😷😨😵

I just got my Nance appliance and will get Braces tomorrow. My Case is Open Bite. Right now the appliance leaves and imprint on my tongue which hurts a little and cant eat properly.

Thankful for this video. Question: What is the benefit of a Nance to hold the space of an extracted upper baby Second Molar in an 8 yo over a band and loop when the First permanent molar has already fully erupted and Upper First Premolar is still in place (i.e. why not place a smaller band and loop device when it sounds like there're some drawbacks to the Nance with lisp, possible mouth roof irritation, etc.)?

I have a question. So. Is there a reason why when I leave the orthodontist, my braces don’t poke me, but halfway before my next appointment, my wire seems to be sticking out more than the previous appointment

Depends on what stage you are during the braces process, sometimes as spaces are closed, the wire extends out of the back of the most back tooth!

Speech is being affected by my Nance appliance. I have trouble talking. Therefore I'm wondering if it will last the entire time I have braces or if it will eventually end.
