I knew her when...I remember the first time Robin brought her over to the old stone house and asked her to sing for me-she was15 years old-and out came this wonderful voice...I was speechless...she was as beautiful as her voice...all I could say was sing every chance you got. Thankfully she surely did. Thad

Addicted to Nancy LaMott and Billy Ekstein. Even if you're "too" black, you can completely LOVE "too" white. Or the other way!

I dig her, but, she 's a tad white bread. Jonathon Schwartz was in love with her or something, so she got tremendous air-play. There are others whom I far prefer, but, yeah, she was a serious pro. Still, I don't buy many of her records. -White bread -too Broadway for me. Give me a Chriss Conner, June Christy, Adelaide Hall, Mildred Baily, Ella, Anita O'Day, Jessica Molasky, Lady Day, Madeleine Peyroux, Lee Wiley, Annie Ross, Sandy Denny, Jacqui McShee, Ivie Anderson, Bobbie Gentry, The Rankins, Willie Mae Thornton… -Just to name a very, VERY few! Will Jonathon Schwartz EVER get hip to Tom Waits' body of work and play, say, "Kentucky Avenue" or "Singapore" on his programme? NO-WAY! Hip is hip. You can't fake it. Schwartz had a big-time Dad, a mediocre/boring singing voice and a good announcing voice. We all get busted. E.g., The Mel Tormé Syndrome. -Listen; Micky Rooney and Mel Tormé were both signed as contract players by MGM during the hay-day of the studio system. Mel Tormé washed out at MGM, but sang his arse off to Jazz immortality. Yet, to the day he died, Mel Torme was an angry, slighted-by-fate, man. Mel, thought that HE should have got to play Andy Hardy and NOT Micky Rooney! Rooney could not sing well, but he turned out to be a hell of an actor. So MGM got it right. And Mel did better than 99.9% of all other singers (Frank did better than Mel), yet Mel never forgave the MGM gods OR Micky Rooney!! Oh dear, where does this all lead? It leads here. Schwartz has The Mel Tormé Syndrome big-time, and unrequited love for Nancy Lamott. Ironically, he was in a position to drastically improve Lamott's career. (long ago there was WNEW and WNEQ AM radio). And LaMott had a tragic death. It all adds up to WAAY more unit sales than she would have had otherwise. "But it's subjective, -a matter of "Taste", you say. Yeah? So Mozart was a hack? A matter of personal subjective taste? Leonardo was an old fraud? (BTW, it's "Leonardo", NOT "Davinci". "Davinci" was the small town where Leonardo came from. Leonardo had no last name. To refer to Leonardo by saying or writing "Davinci" is illiterate in the extreme. It reveals your ignorance. ("but they made a movie called...." -Don't mean shi_e. Hollywood is so illiterate it's scary) Jonathon Schwartz, don't forget: Those who believe they are geniuses; by definition,...are NOT. I find people who are into Ms. LaMott, are REALLY into Nancy LaMott. Like, a waaay too much. Hey, I am human. I dig bass players; and female bass players send me serious. I was in love from afar with Cait O'Riordan and Tina Weymouth...well, I still am. (Too old to worry, now). "Skay, I never said boo to either one of them. It'll be our secret. So be in love with Nancy LaMott; -'Skay. Hurts no-one; but just make sure you shed your scales and mind your rhythm when you blow. I.e. mind the music and stay away from ruts and radio D-JAYs who are in RUTS. Nancy LaMott no more than once very few months. Try it.

Bix.... That was some rant. I'm not sure why you'd be angry with J Schwartz. Sure, he may have been in love with Nancy but he is definitely in love with her talent too. Those who are into LaMott's vocals and albums also enjoy and support all those other talented performers you mentioned, too. I for one knew Nancy and know of her great talent but to put her down as a casual disinterested musician is simply not knowing well her as a person or as a talent. I'm not sure what "white-bread" means to you but to me you're saying she didn't understand music - all music - deeply. I can tell you quite assuredly, she knew all genres of music and could "dig" all talents from before her time and of her time. She was the consummate musician. Because she didn't record a Muddy Waters blues tune doesn't mean she didn't know him or his music. She was very interested in the Bway musical but she was in no way sheltered, she just found her voice in the American Popular Standard world. She was one of the greats and sadly left us all well before her time.

You sound angry that Nancy Lamont got a brake and although shes white bread in your eyes possibly a few others fact remains she worked her ass off and praise be that a radio DJ took a liking and helped her reach her goal. Although Nancy Lamont cared more about having some food in her belly and a couch to lay her head and a stage to sing. Her life had no fairytale ending she finally makes it and meets the love of her life actor Peter Zapp and never got to enjoy her loves infact she passed one hour after saying, yes, yes, yes, I do! How dare you speak ill of a person whom isn't here to defend themselves infact you spoke ill of a couple adding Nancy whom aren't here to defend themselves. Well, I will end with this you could of listened to this song & left no comment but, you came just to leave such a rant. My heart goes out to you I truly mean it. Theres something more to your story to which left you sour thats no way to live . Try to get over it and move on. The Late Nancy Lamont didn't deserve this jealous rant . Blessings everyone! Bless you Nancy Lamont I'm sure you have left the light on for Peter Zapp, your brother Brett and family . Amen 💜🙏🏻💜
