My day 1 was rough, but once I finally had something to build on, day 2 went much better for me! My fav line so far is the opening on one of my main character’s POV: “Marc Huxley was a man of many words. Fortunately for the people around him, he kept most of those to himself.”
@anurarides Жыл бұрын
That is such a cool opening line!! I would 100% read a book that starts with that. I hope you're still doing well with your novel🙂

Sharing a favourite line from the week sounds like a very fun idea! This is what a I had this week (didn't get a whole lot of words in today, but I'm still on track, fingers crossed it stays that way) “I lost Félix the moment we arrived. By now he’s either brooding in a corner, or picking a fight with guys twice his size until they beat him with his own chess set.” Hope you can get a nice rest during the weekend! F1 sounds like a great program to unwind, and your tradition to make country-specific foods for the race is very very fun, makes me want to try it too!

I was doing great day 1 and 2. Day 3, I had the best intentions to continue the momentum. Then my cat got out. He's scared if everything so he ducked under a neighbor's porch while I searched for 6 hours. We found him, safe and sound. But of course, every minute feels like an eternity in that situation. By the time I found him, it was already night and I was so stressed out and he needed some major cuddles. So I only got like 200 words before deciding to call it a night. I'm just glad my baby is home and safe🥰

I’m a night owl. If the sun is up, my brain hates me. So I’m only just now starting to get my creativity flowing. Night 1 and 2 I was able to hit my goal of 2,500 words. Hoping I can finish strong tonight as I am also taking weekends plus two buffer days off, leaving me with only 20 active days of writing 😱 I am glad to know that I wasn’t the only one struggling on day 2 though… it was brutal trying to get my goal.

The start of NaNo this year feels rougher than other years for some reason. My entire writing group has struggled the last two days. Hoping to shake this funk off this weekend when I finally have some actual time to dedicate to writing! Best of luck this month!

Yay for revising! I love seeing all the progress- I'm also revising this Nano and the words have been most definitely *not* flowing. There's something about editing the first chapter that really gets my wheels stuck in the mud. But I'm glad to see someone making headway in revisions! 13% is awesome.

I'm being a rebel this year. I'm going through the prep for my next novel. I love this part of the process, getting to know the characters and thinking through possibilities for the novel. I'm in the middle of working through character questionnaires to see what the characters are going to tell me. I love when a character answers a question in a way I would not have thought of. That is when I know they are starting to come alive.

At my current 4,745 word count, I was able to incorporate this lovely passage from my notes almost verbatim. Enjoy. "Considering the fact I accessed another game earlier. It left an indelible effect to the code, as the multiple available fact entries had tethered themselves to pre-programmed responses to all conceivable scenarios within this space. At this moment, I was staring at the possibilities of reality without messing with the physics of time and space itself." I love being a science fiction novelist.

This showed up on my feed, I had no idea what to expect... But I really needed this ! :) ! Just subbed ❤ I didn't know writers streamed like this and I enjoyed watching it- it's super cozy and inspiring I absolutely love it! I'm currently working on a novel though i never took any creative writing classes. This story I'm working on kinda serves as a form of therapy for me but I would love to finish it to make it a real book and share it with everyone. This software looks super cool to practice more and I'ma give it a shot to tackle my other ideas !

First day, didn’t hit the goal, I felt a bit unpracticed. I hadn’t written in a while, just rereading my former book and making notes (and hardly that). Day two was wonderful and I felt inspired! Day three, got my words in but boy, they did not feel good. And I’m writing on weekends. Kinda have to with a full time job.

First things first, that green shirt is totally your colour - makes your eyes pop! So Day 1 was peak writing volume for me, Day 2 tanked and Day 3 found a middle ground but I'm still sitting at 11% after so feeling really proud of my progress! I'm also taking some time off in between writing days so I'm technically behind but still pleased. I've been writing more stream of consciousness, so not all of my lines are winners, but there's a couple that I like: " He scoffed and spoke without thinking, ‘It was certainly a catalyst, but I’ve always been a bastard.’ " " First was the anger; burning and pulsing over her skin, behind her eyes, under her tongue. "

Loved the video! So far I’m behind on nano by 2 days but I’m trying to catch up. This isn’t much but so far my favorite paragraph I’ve written is: Guanghui released a shaky breath, staring down at the men with the emotionless eyes where darkened skin of tiredness rest. “All of you. You are relieved from your positions.” The prince staggered, prompting Eunuch Chen to place a careful hand behind his back at a swift pace. “Take your families and flee the city. Southern Xuan has fallen.”

a small snippet From "You Belong to Me" book 2 Young-Jae's POV “Sir?” Takahashi asked coming out of the store and looking at me. I look at him and felt a new sense of determination. I was going to get her back and make her mine again. “Let’s go back to the flower shop. I’m going to win her back.” “She said no didn’t she?” he asked almost as if he knew her answer. but that wasn't going to stop me from getting the love of my life back. “Yes she did...and that’s why I’m going to win her back.” I said as I looked at Takahashi with a determined smile.

Considering I hadn't completely finished the final edit of my Camp NaNo July project when November arrived, I am pumped to say I have surpassed the word count goal for the first 3 days. While writing felt incredibly hard during my regular writing hours for 11/3, the German NaNo community had a community word count challenge in the evening which got me to almost double my daily goal! :D

So far I've got about half my goal (not that I really have a goal, but i'd like to hit 2k daily and at the bare minimum the 1667 words so that I can stay ahead since rn im sitting at 7500 words). Tbf i decided to do some baking today. making Chinese steamed egg custard buns by scratch (they are DELICIOUS & the only restaurant that actually had them here shut down so need to make them more often). I'll hopefully get more writing done after I eat dinner tho. And depending on whether my friend finishes writing her section of our collab fanfiction, I might work on that. Did not get to the gym like I had hoped tho, lol.

I don't have a favorite line since I'm outlining so far, haha. But Day 3 went well! I reached par based on my 'working on the audio drama' metric so that was awesome. I forgot to film Day 3's wrapup vlog fro my channel but I actually managed to upload it this morning before work which was double awesome. This weekend I probably won't get much more than reading various articles done, maybe listening to a tutorial podcast or two, because I have work and then family stuff. But I won't be intentionally skipping them, no. I'll give myself breaks after reaching par for the day from now on, I think. Just to reward the brain for being good. Now a question for you! I know you didn't mention it in the vlog, but do you generally think about themes in your works? Like, do you set out to tell a story that conveys that specific theme, or do you just kind of write and one emerges, or do you not give it any thought at all? Normally I don’t think about it, but my podcast is coming up with one super strong. Maybe it’s because I’m outlining and seeing from a bird’s eye view, I don’t know. (I was uber tired last night and couldn’t stay up to see if you answered from last night’s stream, sorry if you did)

Ah, about my favorite quote... It's not really a favorite quote, but I think it's a cool one. Ps.: It is written in Portuguese, which is my mother language, so for English it doesn't seem to have much impact haha. “There is no rest for a fugitive.”

For me, day 1 and day 2 was very productive but I only met my third day wordcount because I wrote more on the second day, so the two balanced each other out. Also, I feel like the scenes where the only character is my mc are flat and monotone but don't know how to improve it and also I forbid myself to edit any of the scenes I've written so far lol. The story is approaching towards its first pinch point so the plot should be a bit quicker now. But damn, why do I like the two side-characters so much QwQ
