It's not that Alissa is better than Vicky or not, it's people simply hate when things change, The Agonist fans miss Alissa, Arch Enemy fans miss Angela, Nightwish fans miss Tarja, Kamelot fans miss Khan although in my opinion, non of those bands have negatively changed due to changing their vocalists... They're all awesome!

The same with AC/DC, when Dave Evans left the group Bon Scott took over and led the group to stardom. When he died Brian Johnson took over, and a lot of die-hard Bon fans decried it as though it wasn't AC/DC anymore, but he proved them wrong. The same goes when Axl Rose took over while Brian was recovering from his hearing loss, people said he would bring AC/DC to ruin, but they were wrong. And now Brian's back and the band is ready to cut another record. Whether you like AC/DC or Arch Enemy or The Agonist or Nightwish, as long as the overall sound doesn't change, it's still the same band, and people will go to concerts if they know it's the band they wanna hear.

I really don't understand why some of you "hardcore fans" are hating on Vicky. A band is a band. Alissa left The Agonist and joined Arch Enemy. GO follow Arch Enemy if you "hate Vicky". She is a sweetheart and so are all the other guys in the bands! Haters, go hate elsewhere. This is Metal. *drops mic*

Boys kicked Alissa out of the band. She had planned everything out to be able to work on both projects and informed about the whole AE deal to the whole band before doing anything. Alissa was contacted by AE, Alissa was focusing on The Agonist from start to finish. I don't like Alissa on AE, but I loved her on The Agonist. Read the articles man. These guys backstabbed her so bad.

@@mattirundelin1430 If by planning everything out to be able to work in both bands you mean a skin the agonist to cancel tours and even their first European festival shows then yes she had it all planned out. She expected the boys in the agonist to basically put their musical careers on hold for her, and kept them completely in the dark about joining Arch Enemy. Also she lied to the Agonist's record label and went behind their back and told them her band mates were OK with all this.

I've been a fan since The Agonist's first album, and although I was skeptical with the change of vocalist from Alyssa to Vicky, the evolution of the band is just getting better and better. I've been counting the days to this album ever since I found out they were coming out with a new album. The hype is real
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
How has the evolution gotten better when there's no evolution this is a simple and plain regression in their style. The progressiveness left with the heart of the band 2 years ago honestly. Now why I think the new album has moments in it it just fails to leave an impression and could be consider the worst album in their discography possibly. The album leaked like two weeks ago you can go and hear it for yourself if you want.

I think the change of Alissa to Vicky made the band different. Maybe less aggressive/powerful. Maybe a little more easy to listen on a day job. Not better, not worse, just a different band. And I kinda like it.
@Robert_Douglass5 жыл бұрын
I like how they layered the different vocal tracks, making it so we can hear her lyrics screamed and sung at the same time. I'd definitely give this another listen. And if you have an ear for the rhythm, you can follow the guitar notes fairly easily despite the tempo. They're not so much notes as patterns of notes that you have to listen closely to hear, but that's mainly the way it is with most heavy metal and metalcore songs. Hard to play, easy to hear, and loads of fun to jam out to.

AMAZING, as always! The Agonist' new sound is better, Vicky's voice is having a good process on this new album. It's different from EOP, a little bit. I like this new stuff very much! They know that I've been their fan since many years ago, I've been supporting them because I like their music a lot, Vicky is amazing and just came to give the band a good change. The Agonist is one of those bands that do what they do, you like it anyway because they have that power and strenght in every single song you listen to. I AM SO PROUD OF WHAT THEY'VE DONE OVER THE YEARS. #FIVE will kick asses, I'm pretty sure you all will love it as I do! \m/ Great job with the video as well! LOVE IT.

While you sound like a genuine fan I don't see the mind blowing unique band we once had here. A lot of things change and dropped musically, vocally and lyrically made more simpler which isn't appealing since this band earned a rep off of it's complexity. I think the new album has moments in it but fails to leave an impression much less lives up to the previous material in anyway whatsoever. Now I like Vicky but only half her vocals are on point. And the new direction is just following trends what happen to being in their own lane you know lol.

I think the song is not bad, but like the other two new songs it's not good enough compared to the prevous album. Only one problem for me. The Voices not enourgh clear (I mean the normal singing and the harsh vocals as well). Vickys voice is better than this. Few times in this song the screams not enough clear and it's not comfortable for my ears somewhere in 1:20 and 1:34 and the same as a few other moments. It's surprises me, because I'm not felt this in the prevous songs and the first album with Vicky. I hope the other songs better, because I like Agonist and Vickys singing as well.

Julian Felton you should write some of your own music... They obviously wanted to write this album like this. That does not mean it is going backwards it's just not as heavy.
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
CMOOREtbay Who's to say I don't write my own music but that's neither here nor there though. Also let me ask you something? If a band starts off with an avant-garde style that made them not only unique but brought in a legion of fans why would you devolved and commercialize your sound? Because this transition wasn't organic but made out of choice to soften up the music for Vicky's limited voice. Not that she's a bad singer just not for this type of metal maybe alternative metal/ hard rock maybe.
@CMOOREtbay8 жыл бұрын
Julian Felton The way your talking it's as if you only listened to this song. That is not how music or art of any kind works for me... I sit down put the album on and listen and this album is a damn good listen. I guess some ppl just have their charts and categories out to compare... But to say Vicky is limited is just ignorant im not trying to be rude but this girl has skill.
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
CMOOREtbay You're clearing assuming things so let me clarify it for you. I have had the album for two weeks and I have listened to it musically, vocally and lyrically. And have yet to be impressed that's not to say their are moments on the album. But overall it pales in comparison to their classic stuff which had direction I felt. That's doesn't mean I prefer heavier just the avant-garde approach basically. Also I'm not denying that Vicky has skills just not in the guttural department is all.

Replacing the original lead singer is a very difficult thing for a band to do, most of the time it fails. Not many bands find the same success as they did with there original lead singer. AC/DC and Van Halen are the two most obvious bands that found success with a different lead singers. I'll admit I don't listen to this genre of metal that much, but I have listened a lot of Vicky's covers on You Tube.I love her voice and think she has incredible vocal range(just my opinion). "Eye of Providence" was one of my favorite albums last year, and I see this being a good listen. As for Alissa, I followed her to Arch Enemy, and that album, "War Eternal", is amazing... quite more succinct and stripped down that their previous works, but I love her sound. @julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
Patrick Atkin I heard the album 2 weeks ago too. But the thing of it is that musically, vocally and lyrically the music has dropped and became manufactured into formula that a lot of bands are following. Theirs no originality or uniqueness to drive them in their own lane which is what made this band great. While I felt the album had some moments in it it has to be the worst album of their catalogue and their playing it safe. I don't know if you're a fan from the beginning but their albums use to surprise and blow you away. This album doesn't none of that but instead leaves you with under performed material that while it sounds okay doesn't really an impression whatsoever.

+Julian Felton i feel the same here... The Agonist aint bad BUT since the album "Prisoners" they sound so repetitive both musically and vocal wise... is even more frustrating since they even change vocalist and they still sound the same.. they do however have some good song in EOP and im sure some songs in this album might be good too... dont know what this band needs to stop repeating themself but they sure need some change ASAP
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
Alejandro Roa Thanks man! I mean people wanna making me out to be the villain but I'm just honest as I truly love this band. But apparently too many people here can't handle criticism and switch into defense mode. And you have a point about the repetitiveness because we all know as fans Prisoners was the best album to date. And that style obviously has influenced EOP greatly while sounding watered down still had some good songs despite the imbalance to it. But this album was too much of a transition to ignore and not say something about it especially with two singles that really didn't do much to encourage to buy the album. The album has moments but overall fails to captivate and blow me away like previous efforts. A change is very much needed but their shouldn't have been one to begin with at least not if Alissa was still around.
@all18138 жыл бұрын
+Julian Felton thats a good point my friend! the change is already made and yet PRISONERS, EOP and FIVE sound like one long album with some differences but yet is repetitive has hell.. im glad im not the only one here who feels this way :-)

I never believed Alissa, always felt overproduced, Vicky sings with heart and conviction, very genuine
@hossamkandil85238 жыл бұрын
I don't know why people are hating on them, really the choruses in their new songs are a lot better than anything Alissa has done, alissa's songs were great but it always felt like they made a cool instrumental track and alissa was trying so hard to fit the lyrics all over the song, I'm in love with this album, probably Eye Of Providence was easier to like and to listen to, but Five is such a unique and different album, they tried a lot of new awesome things

Vicky has songs where she sounds amazing and others where she sounds just alright. Overall she is a decent vocalist, I would say Alissa's voice has more strength though. But I like them both when it comes down to it.

Her voice is getting more and more interesting. Is The Agonist going on the Thrash side of metal?
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
That sound is far from thrash the drumming is mid paced at best and you must mean her clean voice because the gutturals are still terrible no denying that fact.
@rubensousa92168 жыл бұрын
Stop passing your opinion as facts. Her gutturals are fine.
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
Are you deaf or something? Those gutturals are fucking terrible compare to previous vocalist or many others in the genre and that is facts. You obviously need to clean your ears because I'm pretty sure anyone with good ears can tell those things are nowhere near fine except for you.
@Ragnar0ckk8 жыл бұрын
wow. so many fanboyz here! I find this song very good ans I really like her way of singing here! Thé screams are really good. it change from everything i've heard before. I wasn't a fan of their previous productions. Ans again I didn't said it was a real thrash métal song, but some riffs reminds me of it. Dont over reacts guys, that's crazy. btw m'y ears were clean when i discovered the video. And if one day someone is not of the same opinion than you, dont be a stupid internet kid, you can respond to me nicely. Yes my tastes are not universals, neither yours.
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
valentin kientz Fanboys? Not even just a person who appreciates good music point blank period. The only thing going for her here are the cleans those screams are beyond terrible. Listen to any metalcore band and see the huge difference in the screams you're listening to here. I don't see how you're not but this is better when this is basically a simplify and under performed version of that. First off their are no kids here let's get that straight were simply agreeing to disagreeing. And my musical taste is very eclectic even with metal but with this band I appreciated that unique thing not this trend following machine it's become now.

I love the brigde so much, also the video clip is perfect! Eye of Providence was a masterpiece and I was sceptical if they could produce something better. But for me Five is more like an "anniversary" album. It has elements from their previous work, I can even hear Alissa singing at some parts (ugh I mean Vicky singing like Alissa used to do on The Agonist) and demonstrates their new direction. The only negative, the production quality is not that good, or at least sounds weird comparing to other albums.
@AudioBookKnowledge7 жыл бұрын
This battle of Vicky vs. Alissa is ridiculous. Alissa really skyrocket The Agonist so good, "Panophobia" is just so good and Prisoners as an album is a masterpiece. but. Five IS WOW. Like how can u still think of Alissa when u r hearing this beautiful feminine voice? this band has too many virgins that are closed minded creeps:( Hopes this comments wont appear again on the next album.

Today is the day of Five’s album release. And there are some things that need to be addressed so let’s address them. First off I like the song at least for the clean part of it. The lyrics were okay but not as interesting as past ones. And the bad parts being the instrumental which is great but basically is one dimensional not much there changing or keep it interesting. And the gutturals have somehow worsened than ever which is front and center. Other than that that’s how I feel about the song meanwhile the video was an okay addition to it. This band has clearly changed which is obvious here as we know. But with Alissa they were like this beautiful woman with direction and an intelligentsia that attracted many to them. And now the band is just a commercialized beautiful woman with a pretty face with little to none of her smarts left. Both sides have put out music and everyone clearly has the own preference here which is fine. But the comparisons are pointless when one is trained and the other is not in this type of vocal arena. Now as far as the new album goes here’s my review on it. The only positive here are the cleans they are good but at times can become boring or monotonous to a degree. While the lyrics are meant to tell separate stories they seem more like just regular lyrics honestly. While past lyrics were more interesting and made you want to dig more into them. The negatives being the instrumentals while great as I already said one dimensional not much there to keep you interested just basic. And the gutturals are terrible not much to argument it’s front and center. It has moments inside of it but could be the worst album in the discography. Overall the avant-garde element which kept things interesting has been reduced to ashes for something more streamlined. Others may enjoy while others may disapprove agree to disagree. Finally but lastly I’m going to address all you Vicky supporters/protectors. Don’t get oversensitive and say moronic things like feel free to leave or go listen to Arch Enemy when someone has an opinion different from your own. You need to develop thicker skin because the criticism is coming and probably will only get worse from here. Now my own criticism doesn’t come out of hatred but love because I am passionate about this band. Like many others this was one of my favorite bands. But when I see such lackluster material being pushed of course I will say something. I’m not going to kiss their asses because I love them and tell them their great when they’re not. Even if Alissa were here and did this I would still criticize it but I don’t think they would have compromise this much to make their future albums. With that said I want to see them live up to their full potential but devolving isn’t the answer sorry folks. Also stop attacking and fabricating stories about Alissa because rumors of such false claims of what you think of her are irrelevant not to mention untrue anyways. If you don’t like her fine but to say her and the guys didn’t have chemistry to create the music they did is absolutely blasphemous. You don’t evolve like that with every album if there was such discord in the band. At the end of the day I know Alissa is gone but don’t discredit her like she isn’t synonymous with this band. I know Vicky’s here now she’s great singer but just doesn’t have the right vocal skills for this kind of music. But it is what it is and let see what happens in the future with the agonist.

Hi! Im tottaly yhe oposite, i prefer the band like it is now xD Im a Screamer for 5 years, i thim my screams are really nice, and i know that in screaming art Vicky its very low, but i still like her screams dont know why, her clean vocals are beautiful, i think she can be a great singer for a clean vocal metalcore. But i still love her job with the agonist most than alissa idkw.
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
***** Oh okay well hopefully you're taking care of your voice to be able to continue those kind of vocals. Also Vicky's screams aren't great because she's never done it much or had proper training to maintain it. Which is very important to prevent her from ruining her voice in the long run. And yes her cleans are nice but can become tiresome at times at least for some. In the end it all comes down to preference I myself prefer Alissa because she's trains her voice and properly knows to transition from gutturals into cleans effortlessly.

Imagine "The Hunt", "The Moment" or "My Witness, Your Victim" with Alissa's vocals. I'm a guitarist in the Russian melodic death metal and metalcore band. Alissa ... she's my inspiration ... I love her so much. Alissa ♡

+Luis Psarakis. I disagree with you. I talked about Alissa White-Gluz, she was the first vocalist of The Agonist. My comment is a my love confession. I love her, as a guitarist loves the singer, I write short love poems of course about Alissa. She inspired me. What's bad about it ? Sorry for my bad English and for the late response.

Who asked Vicky to be like Alissa at least keep up the intensity and lyrics that she laid the groundwork for. But instead we have lyrics that are derivative or just not as good period and vocals where one succeeds and the other fails but flaws have been pointed out on her cleans from others. The band is still okay just not an unique identity anymore now their lumped in with all the other bands who are riding the trend wave right now. Where's the element of surprise everything is clearly simpler and predictable.

Samer T. Can't handle the truth get out the comment section! It's criticism everyone deals with it just need to toughen up there.
@luan0808 жыл бұрын
You mean "are not good" because YOU think that, right? lol - They're not obligated to write such thing as they used to, just because it's "sounds better". What you call 'simpler' and 'predictable' I call innovating and challenging; so different of being just simple since they're trying to move on and leave 'Alissa's legacy/shadow' for good. By the way, you should leave the comment section (but it's up to you, of course), can't believe people still waste their time to bash artist/bands. LOL
@julianfelton30688 жыл бұрын
Luan Cristian How is innovating and challenging given streamlined material that any band could've played other than themselves? That's pure laziness if you want to be honest. And when you build a reputation on a avant-garde style then abandon it because of some of singers limited capabilities of course theirs gonna be backlash. What you call a shadow is what made this band so popular and drew many fans to the band. You can never count Alissa out which is what all of you new fans try to do but it won't happen so deal with it. Also maybe you should toughen up instead of being so sensitive to say leave the comment section. Because I don't have to do shit I have just as much right to be here as anyone else including you. The purpose of the comment section is for feedback whether positive or negative. Besides my criticism comes out love because I'm passionate about the band so maybe you should know what you talking about first before assuming something.
