This is one of my favourite RTS games and definitely my favourite movie/cutscene of any game. The detail in Napoleon's face is just astonishing. I just wanted to share this amazing moive with you guys. I really enjoy this game and I might be doing some commentaries in the future. Thanks for watching :D

1:30 The ending was so chilling. In case some of you missed it, on the bottom left corner, you can't see the object, but when a French soldier carrying the torch passes through, it illuminates a rock that said: "To London, 54 miles" Britain has been invaded- London has fallen- Europe has been conquered-

Hooked on Total War Series. This was my start. 11 years ago. First was Napoleon Total War then Medieval II Rome Gold Editions Shogun 2 and Spartan Total Warrior (Gamecube/Wii).

For a non-European, this is a cool intro. For a Frenchman, this is the best timeliness. For a Brit, it is by far the worst and most haunting timeline. The HMS Victory is one of the few legendary ships in British history and seeing it on fire chills me to the bone. Even if it is just a game, this intro is massively underrated. People often cite Blizzard cinematic as being amongst the best game trailers but the fact that this is simple and yet so impactful puts it up there for me as amongst the best.

If you look in the bottom left corner as the Victory is burning and a French soldier walks past with a torch, you can see a sign that says "To London 54 miles" they're on the Isle

I don't think so, I think the most dangerous time for Great Britain was certainly in the Second World War, where every day their cities are bombed by German planes and the fear of a German invasion was greater than a French invasion in 1810, and much more likely

@@StrategyGameplays777 Considering the original comment was about timelines. Britain never got invaded in our timeline by the Fench unless you go back hundreds of years ago and none were successful. A successful French empire lead by Napoleon and the invasion of Britain is horrifying timeline. Our reality has British sovereignty on their homeland untouched for basically common knowledge. A French invasion can mean complete change of government and sovereignty. Puppet states and such would be a probability. Probably more humane than a successful Nazi Sealion invasion and it's aftermath. But that's another timeline and topic.

That was the HMS Victory at the end, Lord Nelson's Flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar. She still exist today, but here they're burning it. So did the French win the battle here in this game?

At 1:30 you can see in the bottom left corner a stone with the inscription "to London 54 miles". So yeah, it's probably a hypothetical scenario in which the French military succeeded to land on the British coast.

***** Unfortunately, I don't think there was any chance of him winning in Russia. Not only the cold and overextended supplies, but Napoleon in the past relied upon being able to scavenge supplies in the field, which is why his army could move and strike so swiftly. However, the Russians did their homework and performed a Scorched-Earth policy, depriving Napoleon's army of its most valuable asset.

@@kubajcz Only Mongol's should count out of those three. In WW1 Russians pretty much tamed themselves. Also, allowing Napoleon to enter Moscow was exactly what the Russians intended. Poles also tamed Russia once by installing two fake kings in a row, marking the beginning of a long, beautiful "friendship" between the two countries :D

The ending is nice for dramatic narrative, with HMS Victory being burned. In reality, if Napoleon HAD won, its likely many of the ships would have instead been captured and repurposed for use in the French/Spanish navies - Napoleon would have needed ships. That's the way many naval battles went usually. In the real Battle of Trafalgar, the French/Spanish had a combined 33 ships of the line, 5 frigates and 2 brigs vs the Royal Navy's 27 ships of the line, 4 frigates, 1 schooner and 1 cutter. Of the 33 ships of the line sent against the Royal Navy in the battle, the British captured 21 of them. The Royal Navy was big in size anyway - but to add 21 ships of the line to your fleet from one battle.....well, there's a reason Trafalgar heralded in unchallenged British domination of the seas for 100 years or so. Still - decent intro :D

I think the French would have repurposed HMS Victory if they had captured it at sea. However, in the state it was in in this video - aground, wrecked and shot to hell... you might as well spend the money on a new ship, really.

Maybe the psychological impact of burning, specifically, the HMS Victory on British soil would have been utterly devastating on British morale. It's not only the flagship of their navy, which was always THE British line of defense, but it being also named the Victory and being burned would honnestly make a powerful mix of symbolism that would have a more devastating impact than just repurposing it. I agree with the other ships of the Royal Navy, but burning the HMS Victory, completelly strategically sound.

True true, but honestly, if you have just supposedly neutered the only other notable naval power in Europe, I think you can be a bit free and loose with how much scavenging you need to do to keep your navy numbers up. Of course, as well, burning the HMS Victory would also just be too good a powerplay not to pull, especially on the flipping cliffs of Dover.
