That was a great video and a great series. As a suggestion that final battle for Brussels might have made a great table top miniatures game with more complex rules. I know you can't do that for every battle. I rarely watch 1 hour videos so that is a testament to how into this game I was. Kudos sirs.

That moral thing in my opinion needs a house rule. Something in the order of if one side outnumbers the other 2 to 1 or something they get a bonus on the moral check. That is just to gamey to move just one unit and force that many rolls with out some benefit of friendly units out numbering the opponent. Besides that nice game.

Awesome series and victory to Napoleon. Allies were defeated separately for failure to consolidate. Brits a little too passive. Were it not for some failed force march rolls and battlefield rolls would have been a major french victory. Morale rules should be altered with such offsetting numbers etc. Made it a near run thing when the issue was never really in doubt. Enjoyed it all

I watched avidly the whole Waterloo campaign of vids. Highly entertaining for an evenings viewing. Loved the whole re-analysis of Grouchy & the Prussians. Love to see more of this type of gaming. Big thank you!!!

What a great battle and game. I'm not a war gamer at all, but after watching this I ordered a copy of the game from Columbia Games - as it's impossible to get here in Denmark. Wonder what minis and underlay you are using for the battles? Could you give me some tips on what direction to look for great minis, that might not require me to paint them. Thanks for a great video - would love to see a more in depth review/rules guide, as there isn't many great videos on this game. Thanks!

I have to add one more thing - if the French had been deployed a little different they could have done a double end run around the British for Ghent that would have been hard to stop.

Much anticipated, building to a crescendo and epic finish! Well played, especially the blocking units to keep the French out of Ghent. Though naturally I was rooting for Napoleon to win Waterloo!

As I remember - Couldn't the Allied Army just have left " 1 unit" in Brussels and let the French Army punch into an "empty bag" - Allied Army WINS the game because the French couldn't take GHENT and kill enough Allied units to make the Allies rout ? I also realize that a BIG BATTLE makes a better ending than the empty bag tactic (trip-wire defense). By the way I VOTED before the game to ADVANCE ON GHENT FIRST !!! Interesting Campaign - enjoyed it a lot !! :-)

so forced marches dont do anything in the actual battles, just in the march? The last Battle had a number of rounds you think frenchies be exhausted in the last few turns. I still felt Brits should of helped more the Prussians

I liked the campaign overall but to me the miniatures battles seemed a little pointless and the game system did not work, with very unrealistic results. In those cases, I would prefer not to use miniatures as the visuals were not enhanced but the other way round. The look of artillery made the game to look like anything but a Napoleonic battle.
@davidschneider5462 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the interesting video series. I liked the campaign map, movement, and skirmish battles. The "tactical" battles, for me, did not look or feel like a Napoleonic or any other battle. It seemed like playing modified checkers with dice. The over-simplified map and movement didn't seem like any real battlefield. The I go you go structure without any reaction didn't help. For example, to see horse artillery move, unlimber, and fire at point blank range into artillery, infantry, or cavalry without any defensive fire or cavalry counter-charge made no sense to me. Although it seem like the players had fun.

Hi David, the tactical battles are just the combat resolution from the board game this is based on. They are not miniatures rules, we simply used miniatures to represent the "blocks" in the board game. I think the reason we didn't use Napoleon's Battles or another more detailed resolution system for the battles is the campaign would've taken way longer!
@davidschneider5462 Жыл бұрын
@@Carl-MGR Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. This clarifies things, but my comments are the same. I would only use this game for campaign movement and then change to a different set of miniature rules for the battles. It may have taken longer, but would have been more interesting especially after all the effort you went through to visit the area and talk with an historian.
@Carl-MGR Жыл бұрын
@@davidschneider5462 Fair play! You might be more inclined to like our zoomed-in Tactical battle based on our visit to Antietam, coming out in two weeks, using a pretty detailed set of rules, Hot Lead and Cold Steel!

"that was the English turn" so only a third of the army was British and a third of that was Scottish, and a chunk was Irish, so this seems to be some rather poorly educated chaps fighting this kids game campaign.
@Mupworp11 ай бұрын
Yes, British and English aren't synonyms and historical reenactors should be aware of that!
