They are a mixture, mostly plastic but there are a few metal figures here and there. The Milan Guard command group, Brigade command base, regimental commander and casualty figures are metal, the rest are all plastic.

Sounds like a good idea for a project! Unfortunately I don’t remember exactly as it was a little while ago and I one-off mixed several different layers. I think the ultimate topmost layers/highlights were based on Vallejo Sky Blue.

Great looking unit's, they are stunning. Which blue did you use on the Milan Guard Battalion?
@thelastbattalion35092 ай бұрын
Oof, good question it's been a while. I think i layered up a few at a time. Pretty sure VMC Sky Blue ended up being the main tone, mixed into a darker shade and then also with white for highlighting. Sorry I can't remember more.

What size bases are you using for your cavalry and artillery? I’ve only just started putting napoleonic a together
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
The cavalry bases are 50mm squares, either 2mm thick for plastic miniatures or 3mm for metal. The artillery are on 80 x 100mm bases, 3mm thick. Larger bases are better thicker to prevent warping.

Magnificent looking units! I'm currently painting some myself as the 5th regiment but struggling to find sources for the command unit. Any suggestions?
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
For mine I used a variety of sources, from the Perry guide (which includes Italian uniforms), from books, the web and so on. It depends how much time you want to spend. Often these things boil down to a certain degree of personal choice/preference as sources conflict - I just picked the scheme that seemed relatively likely. I had the benefit of there being several regiments in the divisions so I would have painted whichever regiment I liked the combination of colours on the most. Plus there's always 'battalion/regimental specific alteration' - within reason.
@jonhuntefc3 жыл бұрын
@@thelastbattalion3509 Thanks, appreciated. Yes, I have the Perry reference but it doesn't include the headdress variations for the officers. Particularly lanyard and plume colours which is all I need really. I've looked online and like you say sources seem to conflict. I read somewhere if it was an officer of Voltiguers then they would wear a volt-coloured plume, etc. Thanks again. Loving the vids.
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
@@jonhuntefc Exactly, I reached the same point and just made a call on it. Depending on where they're stood in the unit gives a lot of scope, they could be any of the company officers, a dismounted battalion commander, their kit could be personalised and so on.
@AnExtrovertPaints3 жыл бұрын
Question: What paints are you using for the gold? It's brilliant.
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
Thank you. For gold and/or brass I use variations on a series of paints from Scale 75. They’re airbrush paints but applied with a brush (they need a good shake, ideally with an agitator). I really like the tones that Scale 75 produce for metallic colours in general. They do them in packs as well so you can apply them straightforwardly in a series as of airbrushing or not as you desire.

This is no brigade. It's more like a small regiment.
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
There were certainly larger brigades in other Corps at the time. And it's not the 5-6 battalion French monster regiments of 1812 that comprised an entire brigade by themselves. Their relatively small number of men per battalion and high attrition rate meant that they were combined into single battalion regiments by Leipzig.
