As my third winter aboard comes to an end, we take a look back at one of my favourite cities accessible via the UK's inland waterways.

I lived in Lincoln from 1960 until 1971 (aged 11 until 22). I didn't enjoy it but it looked nothing like it does now. Looks a great place now and, of course you can't move for history!! Great video, thanks!

Great video. I stayed with a friend in Alford in Lincolnshire recently and passed the coal merchant you used. I did plan to visit Lincoln but decided to wait and go in the summer because it was freezing. Thanks for confirming the pub was dog friendly, that’s a great help for me. We go there regularly, as we like Lincoln, but it's change so much , where the pub called the shed is now , was a sort of a shed bar , & it used to flood alot , & guys would go in there with their wellies on lol , when dad got his first boat , my mum would'nt watch it going in , as she said it bad luck to watch your boat going in lol .

Good to see you out of hibernation, and selling yourself for sanitary products. We love Lincoln too, but prefer it in the warmer months. As for cleaning your stove glass, the waste product from the stove works really well, but if its free then why not. Looking forward to the next episode.

Not tried the method myself as my stove has a steel door (no glass), but from watching the other channels that is the preferred method by mixing with water and using newspaper. loads of ways on here .

I have driven by Lincoln many times on the way to race at Cadwell Park but never actually been there. It looks like I missed out. Great vlog Robbie. I take it then that crossing the Wash was not practical which was just as well as that sounded like a recipe for disaster. Take care mate.

Hi Robbie. It was my wife CEAL who commented about being from Lincoln. Brayford Pool was a very place when I was younger. My Dad worked in one of the old places that dealt in marine engines. I can't say that I like it as it is now. We visited in 2016 - the first time back in 10 years. Might be able to catch up with you as we're moving back to England as soon as our house sells.

I can't believe that Sugarcubes nightclub is still going!! The floors were always sticky and you could guarantee there were sick in the toilets 🤢 Apparently there used to be another night club behind the Odeon on Newland (now the Addaction place) which I've been told is where sweat would drip off the ceiling in to drinks... nice. Oh and if you're still in the area, you might like eating at Browns Pie Shop near the Magna Carta pub... yummy!!!

Question for you! How do you choose you mooring what criteria do you use when choosing your mooring?

Depends on a wide range of variables. In this case, it’s winter, I need power, I need to be close to facilities and shops and public transport due to work being especially busy at this time of year. But in summer perhaps when it’s less busy I would seek out a shady area in the middle of nowhere, but usually I like to be near enough to civilization that I can lead a normal-ish life

Yo, I got a mention. I'm famous now! Pronounced "wotmo" , it's the bane of my life. It is of medieval origin, was mostly found in Yorkshire, although I am from Madchester/Cheshire. Great video, Robbie! I feel like I've just been on a Saturday night out with you guys. :) p.s. porta pottis FTW! I don't use those usual toilet chemicals though as they usually contain formaldehyde but I use bio laundry liquid, it works fine.

Yes! Cheers Ben Ha ha! Yep, I’m not a huge fan of surnames as you can imagine but we all have our crosses to bear! I’ve just heard about an incerating toilet that only leaves ash which sounds amazing but I’ll wager costs a pretty penny/rinses your batteries. I use that green liquid stuff but not sure how ‘green’ it is

Sounds sh*t hot! Hmm, I've just looked the Incinertoilet up and someone commented that it uses 1900 watts. My inverter is only 2000 so it wouldn't cope. I heard the composting toilets are okay but expecting it to turn into actual compost is not feasible (waiting and storage of waste on a boat). Apparently it becomes safe enough to dispose of anywhere and without the use of any chemicals. I have been tempted by the green stuff, they sell it on my local coal boats (Halsall and Alton). Anything is better than that blue stuff, it knocks me sick.

Yeah man do it - it is more expensive but perhaps crucially it doesn’t erode the rubber seals as blue does (or so I’m told).

Yeah no I’ve realied it was a stupid idea, it’s winter so not everything is open, had snowstorms while I was there and then had to get back to Lincoln. Also my boat is far too slow to really enjoy the journey.
