Have you guys noticed...each person who read Jiraiya's book see the best version of themselves fighting what is perceived as their enemy at the time. For Naruto, he looked almost like Minato with a deeper voice and a Kakashi vest fighting a guy with a Akatsuki robe...For Nagato, he was in his Rain ninja clothes fighting a shinobi with both the armor of the Leaf and Stone...Minato saw, himself and the character he fought was similar to a Akatsuki but very random in mix...It gives you a glimpse of how he saw himself at the time ! He didn't feel he was against a precise enemy...it's fascinating really !

"Talk no Jutsu" is often seen as a way too easy deus ex machina just happening and changing everyones minds without any resistance, but their minds were barely any different from the start which made it possible. @wwe121533 жыл бұрын
Convinced him by some silly childish speech ,lol
@fr4nk0h83 жыл бұрын
@@wwe12153 isn't just de speech lol. The point of this was show how someone who suffered pain was able to talk and forgive the one who caused that suffering. Nagato thought Naruto would kill and hate him, and that would just confirm the idea that people can't undertand each other, what would give the reason to Nagato, but Naruto just show him that still exist people who decide to talk and brak the cycle of hatred. Nagato always was open to other options. tha's why he asked Naruto of his answer to bring peace, but since Naruto didn't have an answer, to him the only way to bring peace was his metods. Naruto show him that even if there's no a concret answer, people actually can undertand each other, and that bring him the older version of peace he forgot, since that idea of peace was the one that inspired Naruto. Thats makes Nagato reflect himself in Naruto.
@sammykent57523 жыл бұрын
The flaw with this is that it's EXTREMELY idealistic. Which is fine if that's not a problem for you to accept, but honestly it's just way too simplistic a conclusion to what is actually a very deep and profound issue.
@lukasal913 жыл бұрын
@@sammykent5752 While those are real topics that don't have any clean and easy answers to them and historically suggest nagato to be right, it was that "easy" because they don't really disagree on any of those complex topics. Nagato wasn't "wrong" in looking for different solutions, but he still regrets having to heavily compromise on his hope which makes a "you could've tried a little more" hit, because it's not wrong either especially with naruto infront of him who does "try a little more". Also in character for the one that got to his solution through compromise to compromise.
@sammykent57523 жыл бұрын
@@lukasal91 The problem is that his hopes and dreams were simplistic and childish. He's seen the REAL world and it's a lot more complex than idealisms. The main reason this shouldn't/wouldn't really work the way it did is precisely because Nagato isn't a child anymore. Simply saying "you should've tried more" doesn't really mean much and it's not nearly enough to transform a person's entire outlook, especially a person that's being through a lot like Nagato. He abandoned his original outlook for a reason, because he put it to the test and saw it didn't work. He's had decades to see it fail vs Naruto's speech where he doesn't really say anything other than "My Name is Naruto and I can do it".

@1Piece3223 жыл бұрын
@@ssppooppcristi6734 Let me ask you then, do you have the answer for "peace"? Realistically speaking there is no one real answer to achieve peace, that's why Naruto's answer was perfect at that moment. Madara, Nagato and Sasuke are all extremists like ISIS who uses brute force to follow their own ideology and having a "method" doesn't exactly make them right or any better than Naruto. He's not a politician for he did not avoid the question, he genuinely didn't have the answer just YET. In the end Naruto and Sasuke's rise to power brought peace to the nations, the morality of who holds the greatest power will ultimately decide whether or not the world will be plunge into chaos or enjoy great peace. P.S. Chill tf out, it's just anime. As unrealistic as the show may have gotten in ultimately achieving "peace" through Naruto's character, you should remember that this was still written by one man and not a God who knows what true peace is all about. Think most people here don't understand this: The name 'naruto' didn't just come 'nagato' because it sounds similar. At 7:37 Jiraya was looking into his ramen bowl and saw the narutomaki (the swirly fishcake that's also the background of the show's logo), which then, with the combination of nagato's name, gave rise to the idea of 'naruto'. About Naruto philosophy class: The show is ultimately about how Japanese people reacted to world war 2. Pain destroying Konoha = atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Senju/Uzumaki vs Uchiha = Buddhism vs Shintoism. Nagato's and Hashirama's jutsus are all inspired from Buddhism, while Uchiha's mangekyo jutsus are all inspired from Shinto gods (Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, Susanoo, etc.) Buddhism was separated from Shintoism and started being persecuted during early Meiji: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haibutsu_kishaku Shintoism then reigned ascendant until world war 2: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Shinto Naruto the show is ultimately about a dialogue between Buddhism and Shintoism in how to achieve peace, triggered after the destruction brought by WW2. The show leans toward Buddhism, but they don't make it very black-and-white. Nagato's Pain is the dark side of Buddhism, while Uchiha's love for their brothers are the light side of Shintoism. A philosophy class around this show would have to dig deep into the history of Japan and Shinto/Buddhist thoughts

Nagato had acute stress disorder which seemed to lead to PTSD, it can lead to a changed perception of reality and make otherwise good people go pretty wacko until they handled the feelings of whatever caused it, while believing they are above everyone else in awareness Sometimes getting the chance to truly talk it out(the trauma) to some1 that genuinely wants to listen to the entire story can get people to snap out of it, might´ve been the case for Naruto and Nagato there Nagato was even trying to provoke Naruto into attacking him to "prove a point"

To be honest, has talk-no-jutsu ever worked before Naruto has proved himself? It's not just a talk, it's more about showing how strong your resolve is, and then instead of forcing your viewpoint on the loser, you try to understand them instead of judging them. I can see why this speech connected to Nagato in particular, and it surely would not have worked for any other character (e.g., Konan didn't get it). At least, Nagato's own forgotten words from the past was enough to make him realise that how it all started, and what the idea actually was, to convince him that his current way is definitely not the right one.

I wonder if they noticed that Nagato has the same voice as Edward Elric and the villain in the novel is also voice by Ling Yao from Fullmetal Alchemists.

Minato named his son after the protagonist of the books of his master Jiraiya who named him after Nagato. So, Nagato was the inspiration for Naruto's name.

Micky, I know you may not get it, but how you felt during the Naruto and Pain conversation is how us veteran anime watchers felt during Subaru and Rem's conversation in Re:Zero. None of it was wasted. Every line had meaning. It was a total deconstruction of Subaru's character and the archetypes he represented. Honestly, I said this to myself the instant I saw episode one on the channel "They're not ready for this", but I think that's okay. Everyone has anime like that along their path. So even if you can't appreciate Re:Zero, I'm sure you'll find an anime someday with a story that resonates with you in a way similar to how Subaru's resonates with us. But beyond that, *this* conversation is truly iconic. It's where you start to realize just how deep anime can be, even as a 14-year-old kid.

And Naruto literally never finds a good answer for breaking this curse. Tbh, pain was just to real for an anime. It literally parallels real life and there IS no quick fix. You can only hope humanity progressively becomes better through advancements in science and other fields of research.

These two episode are just outstanding and I get emotional watching them. We see the Pain but was also see the belief and hope in the future. Nagato is a tragic character, he could never get past the trauma that he endured, so he brought it to others and eventually ended up ruining his life. There is a lesson in that, you have to learn how to let pain go and move on; you don't have to forget or even forgive who might have caused it, but you have to look within yourself and be able to live your life and not that that pain define who you are.

If I have this right. The reason why Pain trusted Naruto is because Naruto proved he wouldn’t go for revenge even after his sensei died.

If you dont have a significant reason to kill a character in terms of storytelling that's sh*tty writting. Naruto did something significant here, bringing the people back makes sense to me. Absolute peace is not possible but when you actually talk and communicate it can be what's the closest to peace and the right thing to do so I think that was the reward
@stephengonzalez18013 жыл бұрын
The only thing that bugs me about Nagato bringing everyone back is that it undercuts Tsunade's sacrifice to protect everyone. I think it's fairly easy to fix with a few lines of dialogue. Have Nagato or Konan mention that he only has the strength to resurrect so many people, so if any more villagers had died, he wouldn't have been able to pull it off. That would preserve Tsunade's sacrifice.
@stevetherush11933 жыл бұрын
Ultimately, Nagato was fighting his own ninja way, and Jiraiya was fighting to keep that way alive. Theres nothing more shocking than realising you were fighting yourself all along And then Naruto challenged him as a mere villain who had given up on true peace because the path got difficult, not a god who could seize it. Pain had no answer to that other than his own fear of "Life changes people", infront of Naruto's idea that "People change lives" This was sooooooo good

@@aviencloud4239 1}Naruto wasn't just talk, he saved the entire world from subjugation... 2)The rain didn't need rebuilding, it just needed the great nations to stop misusing it...that was Nagato's beef. it was a fully functioning village by the time Pain was leading the Akatsuki 3), Nagato never entrusted the rain to Naruto, he entrusted the search for peace with his originally peaceful method...what anime were you watching????
