Nas learned from the previous greats, but he clearly exceeded what they did! He still has a lot of unreleased material that didn't make his albums. He still has material in Columbia's vault. And AZ said they got like 20 joints together, that nobody's ever heard.

I'm from Flatbush but my mother's side of the family been in QB for decades going back to the seventies. Grandma RIP on dime block...Auntie RIP on Bompton (40 side of 12th Street). Coming from Brooklyn I was heavy into Black Moon in the early nineties. This is 92. I was ten. How was I into all this at that age you may ask? We grew up fast ten. No internet...only the streets. Been traveling back and forth from Coney Island to Brooklyn and Brooklyn to QB alone since eight. Father's mother was the Q train to the last stop going to Brooklyn (Stillwell). Mother's mother was the Q train to the last stop going Uptown (21 street-Queensbridge). I was heavy into hip hop to say the least. So was my cousin. Being from Queens bridge he was talking about Nas since 91. I used to talk shit being a Buckshot fan. One day we was on 40th Ave by the corner store. Nas was across the street yelling at somebody in a greeting. He was a regular dude then but a known rapper. I didn't know him at the time. My cousin pointed at him and said that's the next king of rap. He was nine at the time. I heard Halftime...that Black Moon shit went out the window as far as being the best. Nas has been blowing my mind ever since.
