The best show ever made. Bets direction, best writing, best cinematography and editing... Honest and bizarre enough to feel like real life. Funny and poignant and deep and important.

Read something like Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky or some shit. Books like that have stuff to rival entire seasons of Louie on every single page. It wouldn't surprise me if Louie got the idea for this scene from some classic book.

Johnny Threefour He is a vivid reader. He said so before, and judging by what he Puts out (stand up, shows, in interviews) you can see he thinks a lot about human interactions and takes in a lot of inspiration from others.

"Misery is wasted on the miserable": Just like youth is wasted on the young; when you are in a state of being miserable, you can't appreciate the fleeting sweet melancholy it offers. You don't appreciate how time seems to slow down for you or how you are driven to introspection and to a newfound wisdom of who you really are. You just want the heartbreak to end and you miss all the signs of the precious bittersweet nugget of love you are left with.

Our Sadness is only a measure of how deeply we loved. Joy can't come without sadness. And if you handle sadness right, it becomes compassion. When you extend your sadness and relate it to others. Then, everyone becomes likable, because everyone suffers and you can relate to it. You see that we are all in the same boat. And even when you don't have anyone loving you exclusively, you are free to love everyone. You are free!! This is beautiful in a way.

This is gold, lol. The older man is saying that he doesn't feel anymore but a broken heart would give him feeling again while Louis is overwhelmed with feelings, so much so that it has debilitated him. It's weird but the pain of heartbreak is much better than being devoid of feeling at all. Strange but true.

@ it was just a good time. Around 2010 to 2013 approximately. I was very new to the film ministry. It was a very low budget show with minimal crew and minimal lighting. We all got to work with a lot of celebrities over those three years. From David Lynch to Jerry Seinfeld to Robin Williams. Some of the highlights were working in season one in the comedy cellar filming Louis, doing impromptu, stand-up shows to a surprise audience with the Red One camera, the first successful digital red camera. Seems nostalgic now.

There were no mistakes made though, that's just the thing. If you go back to a hotel with a woman and there's all kinds of flirting going on, it doesn't seem that weird if he makes a move on her. He has a kink for masturbating in front of people. Not strangers but people he was clearly close to. Those that he did it in front of agreed that it was ok. What's wrong is that the women came out and shared something which was a private matter and made it into a public one. Louis is a bit pervy; that's all you can really say about the guy. There were no mistakes made except on the womens part.

Paul Welsh I’m in agreement. I try to take the objective position and give it the benefit of the doubt. Probably, they were all drunk/possibly high. Things escalated and he said something that may come off socially awkward, but there was no sexual assault. No crime, but our society is hyper sensitive and easily offended these days. If you follow Louie, he’s mad real. That’s why he’s loved. Cause he says it like it is.

I know how awful it will be when it ends too. This is my first time being in love with someone and she loves me back. I try to comfort myself from the inevitable and this is the most helpfull thing I have found yet. Thank you Louie. Edit from 3 weeks later: She is gone, over. I keep coming back to this video. It fucking sucks. Edit from 2 and a half months later: We couldn't resist to start talking again. We are giving long distance a try. Edit from almost 2 years later: We just couldn't stay apart and managed to make it work, we are engaged now. I am very happy Edit from 3 and a half years: Distance took it's toll and she told me she just couldn't do it anymore. I still love her but it's over.

That last shot of the man walking away with his dog is absolutely beautiful. Young people might see that elderly man shuffling along the city street and think "Look at his limp and the way he's being lead around by his dog! What a sad and mediocre life that man must be living." But the truth is that the old man has experienced more joy and sorrow than youth alone can ever offer. He has truly experienced what it is like to be alive. Nothing really scares him anymore. He's content with being himself. Gorgeous on so many levels.

I discovered Louie when I was going through my first breakup with my high school sweetheart, it was a particular rough time in my life and his comedy and his shows were more therapeutic than any therapist I've ever had. This was a time where I couldn't eat or sleep, I was so heartbroken I felt sick to my stomach and his content had me laughing out loud in my room by myself (which I never do even normally, for me to crack a smile alone means something) I've never related to another comedian more, the feelings I get from his insight is almost like a drug in how it transforms my mood

Enjoy the heartbreak. It sounds lovely, poetic and profound. Perfect for a comedy laced with big splashes of pathos and even tragedy, but it's specious. Our feelings are our feelings. There's nothing more to them than what they are. Obviously we should revel in our happiness and experience our pain, but pain is not there to _be_ enjoyed. It's just there.

I saw this clip on reddit few years ago, loved it like everyone else and then forgot about it. One day remembered the scene but did not know what to ssearch for, didnt remember actor, tv show, nothing. tried unsuccesfully for few months and then gave up. then one day got recommended Ricky gervais oscar meme video, my brain somehow thought that it was ricky and not louie in the scene, so i searched youtube `Ricky gervais heatbreak` scrolled a few pages and voila got this.. oh bless KZbin.. and ricky isnt even in the scene. so I got curious and then i googled the cast of this tv show which had ricky listed for 2 episodes and thats why this appeared in my search. so happy to have found this finally.

Nikhil Sasi Rajan hundreds of millions of men feeling better about love, fatherhood, relationships and growing old and dying wasn't as important as giving that handful of entitled middle class feminist women their bitter petty revenge for some buyer remorse dick that they felt "held them back". Making petty useless and entitled white women feel good about themselves is becoming more important than having a good male role model for young men that could maybe turn them into the sorts of people those selfsame feminists claim they want men to be. Making upper class feminist zealots feel secure in their paranoid misanthropy is, in general, becoming more important than morality or aesthetics. As long as people like Meryl Streep and Barbara Streisand aren't being held back or hassled, says hollywood, then the MeToo movement is working...a shame that spotlight never falls on the thousands of poor Appalachian marital-rape victims that exist or the millions of women living in literal sexual slavery tied to a bed and pumped full of heroin 24/7...or say, even, the average obese black mcdonald's worker who gets molested by her boss. Never see that shit in the times. But "bein' creepy" is always a hangable offense if the target is a talented pretty white woman of stage and screen. "Don't touch our pretty rich white women" should be the official motto of the movement...all the movement cares about. High status entitled cunts with a platform to whine about stuff that happens to THEM...never things that happen to others.

Why are men so good at shutting down emotionally? :/ The last one I dated stopped himself from totally falling in love with me because of past issues. You guys need to learn how to appreciate everything for what it is, learn from it, accept it, and move forward... otherwise you're depriving yourself of future joy, and for what? I've been hurt so many times, and still I'm hopeful and anticipating true love with a soulmate... does that make me more resilient? I wonder...

I can see what he's saying, but, once you get to the forgetting stage, when you no longer care about someone who left you with a broken heart, feels much more comfortable than the agonising missing them stage. And if you can look back and say 'we had some good times after all' it's much better than wallowing in bitterness and hatred for years like some one I could name

The first time I broke up, it felt really tough and I ended up crying a lot. What I had in my mind was exactly this; it sucked knowing that one day I wouldn't be sad anymore. I wouldn't remember her voice or all the funny moments we had. I hated knowing that she would slowly fade away and it would be as though I never met her in the first place.

“A pleasure is full grown only when it is remembered. You are speaking, Hman, as if the pleasure were one thing and the memory another. It is all one thing. … What you call remembering is the last part of the pleasure… When you and I met, the meeting was over very shortly, it was nothing. Now it is growing something as we remember it. But still we know very little about it. What it will be when I remember it as I lie down to die, what it makes in me all my days till then - that is the real meeting. The other is only the beginning of it. “( Out of the Silent Planet, p. 73)

Yeah, this clip is helping me a lot. I know regular self-help culture wants you to get over things as fast as possible and ARGH, make you a go-getter-achiever etc But me being sad about missing her makes me realise I actually care about the important stuff in life. Me being sad means I still feel love and me feeling love means I stll care and with that care... I can do my best to make this world better. Because I love this world and life where I can meet someone and feel this way.
