@TGIFrank Жыл бұрын
It's a good sort of melancholy. It really plays up the fact that if someone is depressed with who they are before they've "made it," there's a good chance they'll still struggle with day to day realities throughout and beyond their transition into wealth, success and fame. It's kind of like Seinfeld except the main character is a funny standup comedian. It's been probably 10 years since I watched it, don't even remember when it came out, but even the particularly sad or awkward episodes end with a standup bit like Seinfeld did. But again, they're actually funny, so instead of immediately skipping through banal observations about the world through a privileged lens bearing no actual relevance to the world or human condition at large played under credits so you can get to the next episode, Louie gives you a genuine laugh to take the edge off.

Alex Gonzalez who cares about his career? If he bought the house for $17 mil, putting 20% down, he spent $3.4 mil out of pocket. Let’s say it doubled in value right up until his scandal became public a couple of years ago. If he isn’t able to afford the house anymore, he would sell it for $34mil. therefore walking away with over $30 million in gains, minus closing costs. I’m not trying to be condescending, I’m far too busy thinking about things your pretty little head wouldn’t understand.

Louis obviously has a lot of revenue, it's just that his expenses are huge as well. Having a $7000.00 net assets value doesn't mean he doesn't make millions of dollars. It's not strange that he'd have an accountant.

WalterLiddy lol I don’t think that’s what they’re saying. $7000 is all he had in his savings account, so maybe a little more in assets if he sells the furniture. This is a just a bit of the fictional absurdity Louis likes to play around with in this show, that someone with $7000 would be consulting an accountant to buy a $17 million house.

Is it just me, or is it overly hard to buy anything in America, I cough too hard in the UK and the bank send me another credit card...
@Turk_20235 жыл бұрын
No,but it is hard to buy anything without high interest. That is why the Housing crisis in 2007-ish happened.... During the Clinton administration, and Bush before 9/11 they were letting anyone get mortgages/ car loans regardless of their credit and income. They were going in over their heads and getting repossessed/foreclosed because they could not pay payments. Now it is the minimum wage is being raised and it is making everything cost too much and killing the middle class. Also Section 8 (welfare housing) are paying rent for homes that are $800-1500 per month, where it used to be $300-$500 was around what they would do..... This has caused rent to inflate.... Apartment`s that were $500 a few years back are 900-1000 or more because the landlords know since section 8 is paying it is guaranteed instead of them renting to the average working person and them not making a payment..... Once again putting lower and middle class on the streets.
