I don't think the decline in fans is necessarily related to the decline in interest from fans. I think we're seeing the results of rampant inflation. Bristol is in the middle of nowhere and most have to drive several hours just to get there. People just can't afford it. Gas, food, hotels, tickets, the costs are pretty high, with less expendable income a trip to Bristol isn't exactly high on the priority list

First time in a while where all a driver's skill and strategy played such a huge role in the outcome. A lot of modern Nascar races force everyone to follow the same basic pit strategy (road courses are the exception now that they've removed the caution for stage breaks), but this freak situation had cars pitting all over the place. Wildly fun to watch something that didn't feel a) processional or b) like a crapshoot.

This truly saddens me. But it's probably partly related to the state of the economy. If people think that tirewear does not make for MORE interesting type of racing, then you are just not a fan of racing and strategy. This was THE best racing in YEARS because managing tires actually mattered and so what that the pace went down ?? It actually meant that people who took care of their tires had the chance for a comeback, actually real racing and not artificial "passing" when a restart happens.

Not sure why nascar can’t make up its mind on when to throw a yellow when someone hits the wall. Either you are or you’re not…. Zero consistency. All for tire wear, but it gets a bit much with races like this. Can’t drive the car hard bc the tires are going to pop, come on.

Weird how all the cautions are from cars suddenly having tires burst. In the 90s the only cautions were from cars actually wrecking into each other. Now, there's a caution every 15 laps due to a tire burst. Lame.

One of the worst bristol races I've ever seen. I've never seen tire wear so bad there before and I've never seen tires chunked off and coating the entire top of the track making cars want to wreck. The cars were going so slow trying to conserve tires. I can't believe people liked this race...

Awful highlights. Can't believe you missed out all the tyre drama, cars literally slowing to a crawl, Hamlin and Truex trying to wait for a yellow, THAT pass when Hamlin moved Bubba and Truex was ahead. Gibbs losing all his grip NONE of the drama is in this clip package. Ridiculous!!

It was a good race, but tires giving up that quick, is dangerous for the drivers pounding a 3,400 lb, stock car into the corner wall at Bristol is not cool. Another NASCAR Gimmick at the expense of a driver possibly getting seriously hurt, for exciting racing, I think only 5 cars were on the lead lap at the finish. SMH

OK, so NASCAR has finally woken up and gotten rid of the dirt at Bristol Smart move. Now for the next act of brilliance get rid of the stage racing it sucks! Third, get rid of the Colosseum clash at the beginning of the season bring it back to Daytona, where it belongs. Four, two races at Indianapolis one on the oval one on the road course. The road course is a good race, but they need to get back to superspeedway racing. Five, the second race at Daytona run the same course that they do the 24 hour race get rid of the kink in the front straight away. Six. Run the long course at Watkins Glen. All of these things will contribute to the better NASCAR racing that we all expect. I have not sat down and watch the NASCAR race either in person or on television in the past 6 to 7 years and I'm not the only one the stands at Bristol, pretty much empty explains a lot.
