@@JeddHughesOfficial Jedd, when the Immigrant Song comes on the radio, I'm pretty much paralyzed until the song ends. Same thing happened to me when your intro started. Someone on the internet, maybe Brett or maybe GT said that when Tom picks up a guitar he doesn't noodle or practice, he just immediately "starts composing music". Jedd does the same. It's incredible. Very few people, even people who are insanely good at guitar, play this way. That's the dream!

Jedd is such an amazing musician, so much to learn here! Ive been into finger style for a LONG time and the way I think of it is that you have the “pinch” using thumb and any other finger at the same time. And The “Gallop” which is alternating thumb and other finger in a galloping fashion. Jedd is a perfect example of mixing these to rhythms.
@MikeM-Colorado2 жыл бұрын
Here is Jedd's secret: he never says the word "no". It's always "yeah", unless it's "Yeah, Yeah!!". We should all learn from that simple lesson. Beyond that, great soulful rhythmic playing here. And check out his use of the pick. Comes out when needed and then goes back between fingers without missing a beat -- invisibly. Brett, great job on spotting and highlighting the various techniques that Jedd uses: "Can you slow that part down?" Fantastic. I'm working on that intro, verse by verse, in half speed and bringing it up to speed. Super fun. Thanks to you both for this.

This was a really interesting lesson. I was expecting something different, as I would call this either country or swamp blues rather than jump blues. Jump blues is a swung jazz-blues with rockabilly and big band influences. That said, I learned some cool stuff.

Thankyou Jedd and Brett, just subscribed to Jedd's channel , awesome playing (picked up some great tips!) I like the idea of just exploring notes around the chords being played to see what sounds can be created, simple idea but very effective and the mention of Billy Gibbons cause I noticed Billy doesn't move much around the fretboard he plays on one spot and gets everything he needs from there lol ! “All they guys are great great players”. Some can move their fingers and notes really fast up and down the board. Some are just pure musicality. They express emotions in their playing. I honestly believe that you for sure can reach a high functional level with knowing your CAGED and mix them in and out of eachother (fast), but being a real musician is related to personality, you cant just practice it. Its about your being. Jedd and our Uncle are prime examples of pure musicality.

Jedd is obviously a great and gifted player,with a great sound...And i like how you try to get your guests to open up and explain their "basics"....but that is not an easy task for many.....the step from basics to more advanced "progressions" is a fluid state, and if the basic knowledge is not there, it's almost impossible to follow on.... Anyways....Brett...well done again for "presenting" another great guesthere....cheers mate....:-)
