MESSY TO MINIMAL MOVING EDITION! Extreme Declutter & Pack With Me To Sell Our Home! HOMESTEAD PREP
We bought a homestead! And now it's time to pack up our little starter home to sell. Come with me as I go through the "hot spots" of the house and do extreme declutters and pre-pack before we get our home on the market!
If minimalism has taught me anything it's that preparing for the future by decluttering things out NOW will save so much time and headache in the long run.

I always roll my eyes over the minimalist idea of not having a food stock. I lived in an area where we had almost yearly ice storms and/or flooding and would be cut off from town for a week or more at a time AND we would not have power or running water. So I always keep an extra month of food and water on hand.

I agree. I love minimalism and try to practice it in many aspects of my life. But food storage is one area where I will not budge. It is too important.

When my Mom listed her house, the realtor had her remove all attached wall shelves. She said people comment on the need to repair holes and repaint, so it’s best to go ahead and remove most of the shelves and art off the walls. She also had to remove all family photos. Her house looked weirdly bare to me but it sold really fast. Hoping your house sells fast, and you enjoy your new home! My home has no linen closet, we keep our extra sheets and towels in our bedroom closets. We don’t own many so it doesn’t take up much room.

HOMESTEAD WHAT ?!?!?! As if I didnt already love you enough and the joy of simplicity you bring to the table now you are adding this..... YAY!!!!! I just love everything you do!!!! It really is a blessing seeing someone so pure and genuine!!! You help me feel normal :) On another note, my biggest love and support for you comes from how you are a Christian and I see God's love shine through you and your family! Love seeing yall ! My video I would love to see is a sit down chat about being a minimalist, mom and wife as a Christian and what impact it has on your spiritually. Do you reference to the bible for discipline for your minimalistic lifestyle? Do you homeschool your children with biblical reference? I guess what I'm saying is a DAY IN THE LIFE biblical version haha :) I know it's a mess reading this! You really are a light and source of encouragement. Thank you #premierefam

The Elliott Homestead here on KZbin is a favorite of mine to watch. She gives great advice and I think she'll be a helpful resource giving different ways about providing foods to store and grow. I cannot wait to see what you all do, the holidays, just see you become yourselves in the space you've always wanted.

Your Messy to Minimal series has been so inspiring! A year ago I was feeling overwhelmed in our current tiny 2/1 house and couldn't figure out why. I stumbled across one of your videos and it was so eye opening! It took me another couple weeks to actually start (I can be a perfectionist and wanted to make sure I was "doing it right"), and a year later, I have zero regrets! Thank you for the real inspiration and the encouragement that it doesn't have to be pinterest perfect! #premierefam

Another benefit of decluttering before the move is financial, as moving companies often charge based on the weight that is being moved, as well as on the mileage and labor hours.

I decluttered while packing too, wish I had been more ruthless. The can dispensers remind me of my “gimmicks and gadgets” closet my husband jokes about, the trail of discarded organizing things I had high hopes for, before I realized the answer is much less stuff. God bless you and your family Natalie !

Thank you so much for your inspiration and your kind personality!!! We are about to move, too (not voluntarily, I’m afraid. Our landlord kicks us out because they need their house back), and I am so so glad I took the inspiration from your channel to start declutter my house in the last months already. It already will be so much easier to pack, and just like you I will continue to declutter while packing. I don’t want to take a single piece into our new house that we don’t use on a regular basis… All the best and much strength for creating the home you want in your new house! I know it can be exhausting. Can’t wait for your next video! Best wishes from Germany!!! 🙋🏻‍♀️

We remodeled our home three years ago. Since we lived here during the renovations, I was able to de-clutter and purge as we emptied a room. I had VietNam Veterans come about five times for large pick-ups. There is not one thing I’ve missed since that time. (And, I’ve been married over 43 years, so we had plenty of “things.”) Occasionally I still come across items to get rid of.

I decluttered a ton over the 2 years prior to moving the last time, and I was eternally grateful for it when it came time to actually move - with the help of 4 friends, it only took 2 1/4 hours to move everything to my new place (granted, I only moved 2 blocks from where I was, but the last time I moved was only 2 blocks, too, but it took weeks to move by myself because I just had so much stuff, so it probably would have taken at least a few days even with help), and even while packing up, I was still separating things out to pack up as donations (the thrift stores near me weren't taking donations at the time, but the ones near my parents were, so those things went with me when I visited my parents that Christmas), so when I had moved in, there was a nice big pile next to the front door of donations for about 3 months. Every time I send more bags/boxes of donations back with/to my parents', I get a high - every time I send more back (and clear out my "stuff to declutter" drawer and shelf (hidden away, since I'm a cricket), I know that when I have to move next, it'll be even easier/faster than the last time.

This is timely for me too. I'm beginning to judge my need for things by HOW MUCH MAINTENANCE is required to keep it. Helps me get rid of even more. One of my big challenges is to find ALL my tools. I have so many duplicates of hand tools. I have already had my 2nd home. Now I need to downsize for old age. I need a ranch like yours only smaller and less yard. I ALWAYS get something done after watching you

Thank you for always saying "extra screen time is okay." I always feel badly about it when we have screen days but it is one of the only ways I can get big cleaning done. I recently have decluttered our basement some but created a declutter corner that all of the things in that corner will be able to go! Working toward a simplified life. I enjoy watching you for motivation!

📦🎁🤗 I’m in the middle of Reno/moving in! My sweet hubby is a one man handyman so it’s a slow process but cannot wait to unpack my goodies! Someone said it will feel like Christmas when you unpack…little did they know I used Christmas wrapping paper to wrap last minute items! 🤣 So if you need a tip use what you have to wrap stuff in ie. towels, old wrapping paper, hand towels, blankets, sheets, etc… use waste cans and hampers and laundry baskets to haul stuff in to save on boxes.

I recently decluttered the table in our cellar!! And it took several trips to it to decluttered, rearrange, consolidate and two trips to GW. I plan to use it for gardening next spring when I start a vegetable garden for the first time! I’m so excited and happy I’ve been able to keep decluttering and stay on top of our home. We are closing on it in two weeks from my parents so my husband and I are about to be first-time homeowners 😁🤩. One day we’ll build in a different area with some land so I can continue to garden and finally get my chickens 😂.

Natalie, love all your videos! You are so unbelievably organised 😍 Would love to see an organisation video on how you plan your work/family life etc. How you make lists, organise your day/week/month, organise your time and so on. Much love and thanks for the inspiration.

Not moving but we have a small house with very minimal storage so this has definitely inspired me to declutter and minimize a little more! Love your videos!

So happy for you. I’ve been trying to move for a year- during COVID. We packed up everything and moved to the In-Laws- with no way of decluttering as all the charity shops were closed because of C-19. I dread to think what the decluttering will be like when we finally get into a new house and unpack…
