"its a decluttering day, not a cleaning day." No wonder I want to have a melt down every time I try to declutter. Never did it occur to me that those should be separate things. Maybe I will finally get it done!!!

If you've never checked out Dawn from The Minimal Mom for decluttering tips you totally should! She just created a Decluttering Workbook. And Robyn from Minimalist Home is also a good one.
@Megan_Truly3 жыл бұрын
Just make a goal to tackle a little bit in chunks everyday (especially at first! Less overwhelming) and you'll get your decluttering under control. My home is both decluttered and relatively clean and tidy. I do tackle it all but prioritize my goals each day. Also, it's really important and I stress this that you push yourself to do it every single day regardless of whether you want to or not. You cannot lose motivation, honestly. Just push yourself to do a little bit every day and if you don't feel like it that day just do a tiny bit at a time. And you don't feel like it, set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes all the difference! Good luck, promise it's in reach. I was able to do it even has a working mom or I worked 40 hours a week. I'd often even come home and make dinner not to make anyone feel bad. I hate cooking and I definitely did get take out more back then. Wish I could give you all some of my recipes because most of them are really simple the ones that I made as a working mom.

I SWEAR everytime I feel completely overwhelmed and frazzled beyond belief by the mess and clutter of our house God allows your videos pop up. When I say that every time I’ve decluttered and gotten our busy family of 4.5 (growing another one due in April!) with a doggo back on track and on schedule for peace and harmony, your videos kick it off. So thank you again Natalie for helping this very stressed and cleaning/decluttering mama working right along with you! ❤️🙏🏽

Love the motivation to declutter and also the reminder to not go out to buy organisation stuff. It isn’t Pinterest/ insta worthy but I’ve used old plastic food tubs (from like ice cream tubs, baking spread) and jars to store things in. It isn’t pretty but for keeping hair ties/Smaller things together in a drawer - does the job!

I'm so glad that you didn't clean up and buy organizing items while decluttering. So many do that, and I feel like I don't have time and money for that. I've been attempting to be a minimalist for years, but my economical/frugal/crafty side always gets in my way making me feel like I don't want to get rid of things I might need to buy in the future. I always felt like cleaning, decluttering, and organizing should be done at the same time. Thank you for showing us that it doesn't have to be that way, it's a breath of fresh air. Finally feel like maybe I can get decluttering done.
@ambersmith22713 жыл бұрын
Never thought about doing declutter and cleaning on different days but that makes total sense! I usually get overwhelmed if I try to do it all at once so definitely going to separate out these tasks from now on.
@Takearisk053 жыл бұрын
I used to do both and I always became so damn frustrated. Now I do the same as she says. Declutter first and clean later....usually a week later as I work full time and.it becomes just too overwhelming and I still need some time off...everything waits 😉

I started decluttering a year ago after coming across one of your videos, and came across other amazing creators through you being part of the mega motivation playlist a bit ago, so your videos have been so instrumental in my being able to work full time in addition to being a student again! I far prefer decluttering than cleaning - one of them makes a permanent difference to the space and the other is just, to me, basic hygiene of "thank goodness that's over" 🤣
@dusty17543 жыл бұрын
I love that you mentioned recycling... of the literal hundreds of decluttering and pantry organization videos I've watched, food packaging is frequently shown stuffed in a trash bag without a thought of breaking it down and sorting for recycling.

Always nice when someone shows the real state of their house 😁 I am definitely in need of a post-holiday declutter. I did a little bit of that over the weekend when we put up the Christmas decorations but I know I have so much stuff still hanging around that is cluttering our home. 😓

I use kitchen containers (such as those lunchmeat bins with lids) for organizing stuff in the drawers, shelves, or cabinet. Or take a small box or container that you might be going to throw away and use it instead for the hair ties or drawer bits. Saves recycling or landfill, and money.

My favorite way to get my kids to declutter their things they have a hard time giving up but I know they don’t play with/fit it is asking them if it can go to a “new friend”. It’s never necessarily a specific person just that there is another kid that would love it. My middle kid is super attached to his things and really knows his inventory the only way to try to declutter for him is by storing things in a box until he doesn’t remember we stored it or it’s been a long time and he hasn’t asked for it and I can just get rid of it.

Declutter first for sure. Cause its easier in my opinion. Cleaning is a breeze when youre only cleaning what you're supposed to. I started 2022 by decluttering my nightstand and then I moved on to my daughters changing table, and now I am at my closet. Slowly but surely. I plan to be organized this year by having less unnecessary things. I am so happy that even tho I have a 3 story house I have wayyyyyy less stuff then when I had a 2 bed apartment. My house feels so spacious and calm, the energy is so different. Now I get to fill the corners with plants intead of dirty shoes and coats/toys. 💖
