That’s what I never got. Kap was actually sitting down for the national anthem before all this. It was Boyer who had a talk with Kap about taking a knee as a compromise. Kap did that because he didn’t want to make it seem like he was disrespecting the military. I always saw the kneeling as having another significance. In the military when you have something to tell your soldiers (I can speak for the army) you tell them to take a knee. Its short for "gather round I have something important to tell you". If you agree with what Colin is protesting or not its important that people at least listen because we certainly could do a lot more of that, myself included. Its unfortunate that this was used as a political tool to generate support through anger and division by a certain person that will remain nameless.

1941 the NFL started playing the National Anthem. Playing the national anthem before the start of regular season baseball games became the standard. And with the U.S. in World War II now, the National Football League also included the playing of the anthem before games. It hasn't been 100 years...

It's interesting, when someone says they're 'hurt' by the protests, I'm much more sympathetic and I'm more willing to take in their point of view and be more flexible in mine.
