Nate just said the funniest line I've ever heard while Dusty was talking about gift giving and with a straight face just looks at Dusty and says "I would love to meet the man that you talk to the most" because now I too would love to meet the man that Dusty talks to the most. The image of them on the Pod and Nate following along to their conversation has me needing that in my life. It would honestly be the perfect Christmas gift Dusty could give us. It ain't gold but it sure is close to gold.

A cool moment that happened at our church's Young Adult group I help lead in Mason / Cincinati, Ohio. I found a dog last weekend outside of a restaurant I ate at. I posted pictures of the dog to a few websites and found the owner after a few hours. Thanks for all you guys do, I'm always so excited when I realize it's Wednesday, and my daily commute will not be quite so mundane. I can show up at work with just a slightly lower IQ than when I left the house. Also, it might not be a bad idea for a show, at some point, to have Nate show up like normal. However, the topic of the episode will be forcing Nate to finally watch Shawshank Redemption. I feel like his life could be so much better if he just had that under his belt. Hey Bear. So enjoying the Podcast while studying. I have worked from home (IT administrator) for close to 5 years and I have become a voracious consumer of podcasts and comedy routines available across many platforms. Not only does it not distract me from my work it has been a much needed replacement for the ambient noise (people talking, radios, et cetera) of the office as I sorely miss the energy of colleagues and enjoy the diversity of available content. I appreciate the dynamic of your group as it is akin to hanging out with your best buds. Now to fully diversify the podcast " a true representative cross section of America, all different races, background, religions..." I will quote Bill Burr who's bit about a coach asked why a team could not win any games "We need more black guys on the team." Cheers bros. Rick.

It took at least two U-turns to make sure I heard Aaron correctly regarding why we give gifts at Christmas. Aaron offered that it makes sense, if we see Christ in someone else then we give them a gift. I died laughing! As a mother of three teenagers, if that were the criteria for gift-giving, I could have called it after each one's first Christmas! Has Aaron never met a two year old before? Admittedly there are some years I would have to think hard about my husband! Talking about nightmare plane stories I think I have one of the worst. I was on a late-night flight from Brussels to Berlin when a German guy with extremely blue dreads, wearing muddy flip flops, and a tank top sat right behind me. He had a pungent smell that immediately made the entire middle section of the plane reek. I trying to catch some sleep when I felt something painfully scratch the back of my arm. I turned around to see him clipping his toenails while resting his feet on my armrest. His gnarly yellow toenails had scraped my arm and drew blood and there were toenail clippings all over. Seriously contemplated jumping out of the plane.

Fun fact: Walmart opted to close on Thanksgiving in 2020 and has done so ever since. Most if not all retailers have followed suit. While there is still the traditional Black Friday event the day after Thanksgiving, Walmart has started what they call “Deals for Days” events in weeks leading up to the big day first for online customers and then for in store customers, taking some pressure off of actual Black Friday. Having the smaller events and allowing people to shop these items online have lead to smaller, less chaotic Black Friday sales. Source: Me, a Walmart Store Manager

Love this podcast! You should do one on embarrassing moments, I’ll go first. It was 2004ish and I was about 21 years old. My mom and I were on a flight. I had recently started a job that provided me with a laptop and I felt very cool. It was really popular at the time to download SNL skits from something like Napster. So I downloaded a bunch thinking about some inflight entertainment. So on the flight I brought out my laptop and my mom and I enjoyed watching a couple of the skits. We were cracking up. I was in the middle seat and there was a guy my age sitting next to me and I thought I’d be nice and see if he wanted to watch them with us. So we unplugged the headphones so he could hear too. Each SNL skit was a file that had the title of the skit. So I clicked on the next file/ SNL skit, expecting to see Will Ferrell. It opens and we are zoomed in on something only we can’t see what it is, BUT we can hear it because it was an adult film!!! Next, on the laptop, the camera pans out and it’s now very clear what me, my mom, and this stranger guy are all watching. My instinct was to slam the laptop shut and put it away, but that did not turn off the sound! I then had to bring it back out and open it up and proceed to close out the file. This all happened in a matter of seconds but seemed like an eternity. I was so mortified! My mom kept saying my name over and over again in a disappointed tone, as if I accidentally showed them my private adult film stash. I was fumbling over myself to try and explain to my mom and the guy, but needless to say I didn’t talk to him the rest of the flight. My mom and I would randomly burst out laughing just thinking about it, at different intervals during the flight. I never wanted to exit a flight so quickly when we landed. And the cherry on top of it all… he was on our return flight. I learned my lesson to preview any file before showing it to others. 😂

I work at National Museum of the United States Air Force which is the military museum in Dayton, Ohio mentioned in this podcast. Dusty's experience is very common. Guns and knives are prohibited on federal property. The security staff most likely realized that you returned to the entrance faster than if you would have gone back to your car. They typically search for the knives hidden or buried because they do not want a child to get a hold of it. Played this for a few of them and they thought it was hilarious because it happens almost hourly. Love the podcast! Aaron - Go Irish.

Great airplane story - I boarded a flight leaving Las Vegas and got seated next to two guys who were obviously “having a good time.” One guy was drinking a Coors Light during the boarding process. He casually carried it on the plane and unknowingly broke federal law. But let me tell you, he was enjoying this cold one. A few minutes later a flight attendant noticed this and was absolutely flabbergasted. She asked him where he got this and he told her at the bar in the airport; the look on this flight attendant’s face articulated complete shock that he had committed such an offense. She confiscated the beer and told him about all the rules and laws he had broken. A few minutes later the same flight attendant came over the loud speaker to welcome everyone on the plane and stated that if anyone needed anything feel free to press the call light button. I turned to our beer drinker and told him I’d give him $20 bucks if he ordered a half empty bottle of Coors Light, and the guy did it! He rings his call light and same flight attendant comes up. She declined the opportunity to return the beer and needless to say she was not impressed with our humor. But I got an excellent laugh and an even better story for the small price of $20.

I picked up the phone just as Dusty was replying "Fakes huh?" regarding the last name of Bryan's teacher that was a finalist to ride on the Space Shuttle Challenger. Needless to say there was a long pause on my end of the phone as I tried to stop myself from bursting out laughing....would've been a great opportunity to plug the podcast to a customer though if I had let the laughter out. I'm pretty sure Dusty and I are watching the same videos in our spare time.

Hey Bear, I’m a long time listener and am usually fine with the hearsay banter but it is a common misconception that all battles in the Roman Colosseum were to the death. In fact, the majority of the gladiator battles were similar to modern UFC fights in the sense that gladiators would fight until one surrendered. The emperor had the final say in who lived or died. Gladiators were thought of as prize fighters and trainers would invest a lot of money into them so it doesn’t make much sense to have every fight go until someone died. Usually the people that were killed were prisoners, religious martyrs, and enemies of the Roman Empire. Thanks for all the laughs!

I've had the same stance as Nate on fiction/ non-fiction since elementary school and have never heard anyone else mention similar thoughts. Unbelievable!

Oh my gosh…my dad always cried when he heard the song, Snowbird by Anne Murray. Sometimes, I would randomly play it just to watch my dad lose it.

I think Dusty's speaking voice is very similar to Ronnie Dunn's (from Brooks and Dunn) singing voice. I'd like to hear his version of "Neon Moon".

You guys should check out the Abernathy boys!!! That would be a great episode! Their dad was “Catchem Alive Jack”, friend of Teddy Roosevelt. Back in the day he would catch wolves by the mouth and sell them. There are several books about the boys multi state and cross country adventures when they were from ages 10-5!!! Rusty, the good ol days!!!

2004 while in college I worked at Applebee's as a cook. One day hanging out on campus a friend of friend mentioned that he was looking for a job. I suggested Applebee's. I talked to the manager and got him an interview. On interview day a waiter friend of mine came to the kitchen and said, "go look at what he wore to the interview." I laughed because I thought he would have a suit on. Nope. Timberland boots, cargo shorts and a tank top. Surprisingly he got hired. Unsurprisingly he lasted one training day. I use to think restaurant interviewees shouldn't be judged on what they wore to interviews. I was wrong.

Actor David Arquette has purchased the rights to all things 'Bozo'. I can't wait for him to bring him back. David also is a licensed Bob Ross painter. :) He's an interesting guy to say the least.

Speaking of hiding things around the house...growing up, I had a great aunt and uncle who didn't like each other very much. My uncle would always hide things from my aunt including cash. For years, my uncle hid thousands of dollars in the lining of a coat that was stored in a trunk in the attic. One day, my uncle came down from the attic, in a panic asking where the brown coat that was in the trunk was. To which my aunt replied, "That old thing? I gave it to the Salvation Army."

Dusty hiding knives reminds me of the time a rode my longboard to the bar and hid it behind a dumpster in the parking lot. Came back 12 hours later to find the parking lot roped off and totally repaved. Days later it was till there

I got tired of buying my family random things so last year I bought tickets to Nate's show he mentioned in Wichita. That was a way better gift than whatever socks and a pair of jeans my dad asks for every year, and everyone wants me to do something similar this year. The only problem was they're wast enough room between the rows for my legs to fit so I either had to hover, or have my seat and the one in front of me pinching my legs with all of my body weight.

Heads can get bigger without the juice. I had a 7-3/4 hat size as a freshman baseball player at the US Air Force Academy (2001) and now I wear an 8. The growth has spawned some great nicknames: 1. Moose (birth) 2. Fathead, Moosehead 3. Heed (So I Married an Axe Murderer) 5. IMAX

The funny surgery story reminded me of a funny story my wife (who is a nurse told me). She had a patient come into the ER freaking out because she was bitten by a bat. She proceeded to plop a dead bat (in a bag) onto the check-in counter and wanted the hospital to test it for diseases to see if she needed to be concerned, ect. My wife asked the lady "is this is bat that bit you?" and she responded: "I don't know, but I found this bat near where I got bit so It must be the one"......
