While on a family road trip from Texas to maine, my mother once unexpectedly let out a rather loud sneeze and startled my father, who was driving. Quite flustered, he yelled, "next time you need to warn me! I could have put an eye out!" We all just about died laughing at his comment, and never let him live it down. To this day, if anyone makes a noise while one of us is driving we tell the person that they should have warned us, we could have put an eye out.

On most road trips, my wife would listen to Nateland with me. On our recent road trip I tried to play “don’t make me come back there” thinking she would be all on board cause she loves family. She asked to change it. She’s said Dustin doesn’t talk about anything, which is ironic considering she’s listened to a good amount of Nateland, the self proclaim podcast about nothing. We both went to see Dustin at the Raleigh Improv. He crushed it and my wife absolutely loved it. This episode should be an interesting car ride.

I hitchhiked home from a neighboring town in Romania and was picked up by a couple. It seemed safe enough. Helf way, in the middle of nowhere, the driver careened off the road to a screeching stop, hopped out of the car and began to beat up a man on the side of the road. When the beating was over, the driver returned, and we continued to my town. I, a single older woman, said nothing during the ride. I had a good cry when I got home.

My favorite hitch hiker story: My wife and I were in Ireland for a family reunion with our 2 year old son. We he just left town to visit my uncles house a few miles out. There was someone hitch hiking on the side of the road so I slow down and pull over. My wife is hitting me and can’t find the words to question this decision, with nothing but horror written all over her face. I unlock the doors to allow this man to sit in the back next to our 2 year old. “Megan this is my cousin Anthony” I am glad to report we are still happily married and have had more 2 kids.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. My road trip experience as a child was a little different. I grew up in central Texas in the 70s and we would make an annual trip to near Augusta Georgia for Christmas. My father, having grown up in the 40's, 50's, and 60's as a black child, understood the risks of a black family traveling across southern states like Alabama and Mississippi did not stop unless it was absolutely necessary primarily for fuel. My mom would pack plenty of snacks, sandwiches and drinks and I would bring books and other things to keep me entertained. My father even kept a large empty jar handy for emergency bathroom needs (number 1) and would empty it when it became necessary to stop. As an adult I try to make a road trip more entertaining and rewarding so I will stop in towns that offer cultural enrichment or hold something of keen interest.

What Dustin is missing, if Saban wasn’t at Alabama, another SEC team would’ve been winning those championships, it’s not the Xs and Os it’s the Jimmys and Joes. Those recruits and players feed to Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Florida. Those teams show up in the playoffs and beat the other conferences. I mean, there are 5 different natty winners in the SEC in the last 25 years in one conference. If you take away the top team from the other conferences, are they still good? The only conference that comes close is the Big 10

@LA_Ohhey_Shotani9 сағат бұрын
I am not a fan of just one or two people hosting a podcast. I really like the dynamic of multiple people like on this podcast but also who those people are really matters too. I really want to like the consumers because of Greg Warren, but almost a dozen episodes in I’m still struggling with it. It just doesn’t have that chemistry for me.
@erinj.25019 сағат бұрын
I’ve tried so hard and feel so bad, but I can’t stand their voices or the voices on the Consumers besides Greg. I’m sure it’s the regional accents but it’s all so abrasive on my ears compared to the slower southern tone of Nateland. I could listen to Dusty all day, his voice is just soothing. Makes me sad I can’t listen to Greg’s podcast cause he is awesome. I often think I’ll try again but can never make it past 20 minutes.
@forrestjackson65819 сағат бұрын
It’s pretty clear the Nickerson’s numbers are bad so they’re trying to wrangle more support for it by having him/them guest on the other pods. Probably won’t last if it doesn’t turn around soon. Hate it for Dustin because he seems like a super nice guy, but it’s business ultimately.
