Nate saying he’s not a maniac as he is ranting like a maniac is priceless. He was so wrapped up in his rant that he didn’t even realize Aaron was making fun of him when he said, “Is part of you jealous of that joy they still have….that they’re not jaded?” That was comedy gold and yet Nate just kept ranting. Brian deserves an apology and Nate you should thank Breakfast for putting up with you despite your idiosyncrasies.

Moral of this episode: never, under any circumstance tell Nate he is difficult. He’ll show you difficult. I thought at any second he was going to come after B. Bates’ mom, sister, and grandma. Yikes. Additionally, Mr. Travel, since you do travel every second of your life, it would follow that you would be more familiar with what your suitcase looks like, compared to the average traveler of once or twice a year who is likely less familiar with what their suitcase looks like and may benefit from tying something on it that will stand out.

Nathanial, Aaronnicus, and Bisquick…the way y’all COULD NOT get a handle on the fish vs fisherman metaphor was spot on for this podcast. The point of “give a man a fish vs teach a man to fish”, is that this man is either dependent on others for his sustenance or he has the ability himself to go get his own sustenance. None of you figured it out. Even getting a job at Taco Bell is still him being dependent on someone else for his survival. Teaching him how to make himself some tacos would’ve been the answer. To sum up the 45 minute rant: Bates travels differently than Nate, due to lack of traveling at all, compared to Nate who travels full time and has for a long time. Bates probably approaches an airport like 99% of the population, but since he doesn’t do it the way Nate does it, he sucks and is worse than having to lug around multiple children while traveling. Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. I thought I had arrived and would always just "get it" for the rest of my life! Weeks later my students started to say "bae" in reference to their significant other. This confused me, and I realized I had passed into being old. Regrettably, it has been downhill ever since. I'll go proofread this now.

I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable with the way he treats Brian, but it seems like they’re friends in real life, so hopefully there’s more to it than Brian playing the punching bag for him. But man, if you’re generous with your friends and then you throw that in their face the moment they have a mild critique of you, that’s pretty low. First class treatment with some strings attached. I hope Nate was just having a bad day… we all have them. But a bit more discretion in the editing room and an apology to Brian if you actually value his friendship and contributions would be great.

Holy moly, Nate really loved the sound of his own voice this episode. Jeez. Great episode as always!

Well, reading these comments I had to skip to the end of the podcast to see what happened! Nate…chill!! I watched you get more and more worked up over travel, to the point you took it out on Brian. A true bully. Be careful your head doesn’t get too big for all those free hats… I see I’m not alone in these comments…I’ll listen next week to hear which ones you read 🙄 although I’m sure it won’t be mine!

This rant on Boysenberry made me take a break from my morning ritual of listening to an episode of Nateland this past week. It was rough. Hopefully everything is okay and Nate had a better few days. Looking forward to a fresh take tomorrow. Oh yeah, and Aaron.

Hey Nate, Bentley, Aaron, much love and thanks to all y’all. Long time commenter here, first time listener. Love this podcast, it’s like “ask the experts” but without the hassle of experts. I wonder if Miriam asked Webster one day while they were just looking up at clouds or stars, “bruh, what if we wrote down all the words?” “Like even Canadian words like Toque?” “I guess so, but let’s not worry too much about pronunciation, we do have to make it to W and so on”. In all seriousness, Nateland is my favorite podcast of all time, so far, even if I have forgotten to pronounce some words i used to know by listening. So, thank you, and I expect better in the future.

I love that Nate says assume everyone is smarter than you & then almost immediately says he doesn't think people can figure out he's talking about a specific kind of shoe when he says "tennis shoe." Also the garage sale & yard sale debate has a simple answer. It depends on where the sale is. If it's in your yard then it's a yard sale & if it's out of your garage then it's a garage sale. I guess if it's both then you can pick or interchange the terms. And as for the beanie vs toboggan debate, the difference is the beanie doesn't have a part to flip up based on its length & is usually thinner material. A toboggan is usually thicker material & is long enough to flip the bottom part over. Keep up the great work! Thanks for making Wednesdays more enjoyable!

I had such a high opinion of Nate and his character until he berated Worried Burger there at the end. There was nothing comedic about it. It was mean spirited and rude. It was so disappointing to hear Nate sound so high and mighty. I really hope he apologizes next week. A true apology, not a snarky one. I just wanted to give Brian a hug!

Brian's stare at Nate while Nate was going off about people trading seats on a plane after Nate told him he is the worst to travel with had me rolling! As a traveling consultant who used to travel 50-75% of the year I could totally relate to Nate's flight etiquette and people's lack of awareness while traveling. Can't wait to see Nate this weekend in Indianapolis - I'm going to try and trade seats at the show to see if it works.

Fun fact. I actually did trade seats at his show and it did not work! Good luck, folks.

I am also an avid Aaronland listener (same age) but I also came up in the restaurant industry. I would get a check that said "this is not a check" across it. Servers are paid on average $2-3 per hour (all taxed away). We work for tips and if we get stiffed on a table that means we had to lose money to serve them.
@reneepoche153 жыл бұрын
When I waited tables we also had to tip out the bartenders and bus boys 4% of our sales (NOT 4% of our tips). So that meant if you wanted on a table and they didn’t tip you literally paid to wait on them because you now owe 4% of their bill to other staff.

As a medical professional I have stood idly by long enough and can’t take it anymore. I am officially putting in my application for Natelands personal on-call medical expert. I will gladly explain things like the definition of blood pressure. You are more than welcome to call me even while on air. I patiently await your phone calls.

Nate is talking about his knowledge of being a passenger on a flight in the same manner someone else may talk about the knowledge they gained by being a doctor or a scientist. I traveled all over the world for 31 years in the Air Force and I never realized being a passenger was so difficult. I'm dying laughing.

Hi! I’ve been working my 3rd job doing delivery for DoorDash, and listened to all the episodes from beginning to current while I’m driving. It adds a lot of laughs to my day! I love your insights and perspective because it comes from a pretty grounded place overall. Driving has me more road rage-y than I’d ever thought possible. I’d love to know your take on road rage and if you have practices when your driving on how not to be annoyed with other drivers. I’m big fan of the podcast. I love the banter. I’m also going to the show in my town, Redding, ca in March. I would love to see Brian and Aaron come to my town as well! Hint hint!! Y’all stay blessed! Love the show!

This was such a fun episode. First, I lived in southern Spain for 2-years and I believe the reason Spaniards ate so late was due to the hot temperatures of the region. They would wait until after sunset to venture out into the streets. As an American family living abroad, we would think we were doing late meals when we went out at 7:00, only to find that we were the only ones in the restaurant. Spanish families would start venturing out around 9:00 pm. Also very regularly I had to work on a weekend and would be heading out of my house at 7:00 am to see families clearly heading home with sleeping kids in strollers from the night before. I also loved to see how fired up Nate was about flying and how hilarious it was to watch Breakfast get humbled for his ignorance. Glad he’s gotten better since. I cannot wait until the next episode about life hacks. Tremendous show Gentlemen!

I was born and grew up in Southern California and moved to Memphis, Tn 2 years ago. One of the words that is new for me is calling a bill or a payment called a "note". Like, "did you pay that car note"? I thought it was just something my husband (who is from Memphis) would say and then I saw it on the news and other people say it here. Also, as a native Californian, I have only ever said "freeway". Now that I live in the south, I like that I can say "y'all" now without feeling like a fraud lol.

Nate waiting at the end of the carousel is exactly what I do. I'll check my phone, prepare for anything else I have to do, and my bag is intentionally so unique that no one would take it thinking it was theirs, so I just wait where no one is, and it's a max of 40 seconds longer to wait than if I bustled my way to be first at the opening where it comes out, and no one is around me
@crusheen3 жыл бұрын
I also don't bring a carryon that cant fit under the seat.....and I sit in another gate's waiting area before boarding to be away from everyone, but stay earshot away....and I intentionally try to board as late as possible. Unless it's southwest, then I'm forced to be part of the chaos

I am from Indiana, but the church I grew up in had a lot of people from the south. I heard a lot of people say “warsh”, and it actually ruined a prayer for me. The pastor would routinely pray, saying “Lord, we come to worship You today.” I couldn’t help but hear it as “Lord, we come to Warsh a Pew today.” I always picture everyone with a bucket of soapy water cleaning the seats!

Poor Aaron. On the same episode he was downgraded as smartest podcast member he was later totally schooled by Nate with the fishing pole v/s fish analogy in which Nate was totally correct. I hope it’s okay that I’m laughing, Aaron. It’s all in good fun. 😂 But also- I live in Indiana and you 100% had to have driven past dozens of cornfields during your commutes to ND. Although, to be fair, they didn’t show them on the West Wing so you might not have noticed. 😜

While Nate feels odd approaching a yard sale, many are aggressive. My cousin Keila was going through a box of items only to be told that they were cleaning out their garage, not having a yard sale. She also thought her car was broken into because when she got inside there was stuff thrown about everywhere then realized she was in someone else's exact car.
