Hey guys, can't tell you how grateful I am for this show! My good friend Perry shared Nate's stand-up with me a couple years ago, and it immediately won me over. I started listening to the podcast a couple months ago and again immediately won me over. The bit in Candy Pt. 2 about coming to the door with a hoody on backwards, hood full of popcorn, and pants on backwards with two diet Cokes in the back pockets just had me crying laughing in the car. You guys all have such great chemistry and talent, and each of you just brings so much to the show. I didn't realize at first that Nate was a Christian, but always kind of wondered given how clean the acts are. So it was a pleasant surprise learning from the show that Nate is and the rest of you are as well! Your material on and off the show has honestly been an answer to prayer to help me get back some of my sense of humor I've felt I've been losing. I'm an aspiring entertainer myself, mostly as a singer and songwriter, and I just started doing paid shows a little over a year ago, hoping to eventually make it my full time work, so it's also just been really cool hearing about how each of your careers have taken shape over time and has encouraged me in my early stages of trying to make this a career. Your show is my favorite thing to listen to before I perform now. It just helps get me in a light-hearted mood and in the right frame of mind for doing my own little bit of improv in between songs. So thanks for that as well! After your last show I was thinking a lot about what a good name might be for Nate's new special, and so I prayed about it today, something like this, "God this seems like kind of a ridiculous thing to pray for but if You'd like to give me a good name for Nate's special, go for it." Now I'm not saying this is a word from God... but I'm not saying it isn't either! I think a great name that fits in the spirit of the first two and is a natural progression would be, "World's Most Extra Ordinary Comedian". At first I went with "Comic" , but then I got thinking about the SEO, and so I'm thinking, "Comedian" takes the cake. Thank you again guys for all the laughs and keep up the good work!

Aarons SEO comment made my day. I work in the digital marketing space, specifically SEO and get the same reaction whenever I tell someone what I do for work. Part of my job includes me telling/teaching our clients what SEO really is. When I do this I have to explain it like I am talking to a child. Very similar to Aaron teaching everyone what it is. Couldn't help but start laughing. Whenever I speak to a client from Tennessee I always bring up Nate and this podcast and a chance to connect with them and talk about something else. Shakespeare changed theatre and language in ways that still impact drama today. The Beatles, while not every song was exactly brilliant, started a cultural revolution across the western world, and we still hold Beatlemania as the top measure for movements like that. Taylor Swift just wrote a bunch of angsty love songs about Aaron Weber, and her music is kind of fun. Mentioning her in a college class might be totally appropriate, but a class just about her seems insane.

Am listening in to the back catalogue of podcasts having arrived to Nateland pretty recently. Your section about people creating ‘content’ like hitting people, etc struck a real chord. We’re in a world where KZbin has countless videos of people reacting to videos, or people commenting over content that someone else created. In a world where content is king, just riding the back of someone else’s content is the ultimate free ride….. Love your podcasts, guys!

I played in a band in college and we would go on the road every weekend throughout Texas and the close by states. We had one show in Houston where after we setup our gear the sound guy said he was ready. At that point it was just the regulars at this sports bar, and it didn't look like more folks were going to come for the other bands, so we went up to play our 7 song set to basically no one. When we finished the sound guy said "Yea sounds great, the show starts in about an hour". Turns out we were only sound checking, and instead of having us do a 15-30 second part of a song he let us play the ENTIRE 40 minute set with the banter between songs and full energy. We ended up just packing up our stuff and heading home before the show even started.

When you folks were talking about naming albums in order to get attention from the public. And you mentioned Barenaked Ladies. Years ago, back in the late 90s, I was managing a small electronic store in downtown Salt Lake City. A fairly conservative area you might say, about a block from the Mormon temple. I at the time was employing one of my wife's younger nephews as a Salesman in the store. I think he was about 18 years old. He came in one day and asked if he could put on some music in the store and I asked him what it was, and he said it's called Barenaked Ladies. I, never having heard of such a band, put my foot down and said absolutely not! And I was very surprised that he would even suggest such a thing. I was not even willing to discuss the matter, and walked off indignantly. Cut to later that year I heard some songs on the radio that I thought were great. It was the Barenaked Ladies. I went and apologized to my nephew in law.

I think a lot of the point of education is not about what you learn, but more so about learning how to learn. So the Taylor Swift class, for example, isn't necessarily about her and her music, but about learning how to dissect lyrics, which is essentially poetry. If you can do it for hers, you can do it for most anyone's. Offering this type of class for someone who is part of current pop culture, it will attract and interest the students more than Shakespeare probably would, and therefore make more of an impact.

“Funner” is most definitely a word. Most of us were taught that “funner” wasn’t a word in elementary school without any explanation as to why. When I took Advanced English Grammar in college, the professor said “funner” in class, and a student called her out. So, she challenged the student to explain why, and, when the student couldn’t explain why, the professor pointed out that there is no reason why “funner” should not be used as the comparative usage of the word “fun.”

Universities that have "optional test scores" usually still require a placement exam to determine if students can take level or remedial classes. I teach senior English. Starting last year, my school began giving the state college entrance exam during the school day if students did not have acceptable SAT/ACT scores. My school also accepts ASVAB scores in lieu of taking the entrance exam. English class has become less literature based and more career and college readiness. Despite this change, students still don't care. I once wrote the answers on the board to a quiz they were taking, during the quiz, right in front of them, and no one notice.

Hey Bear!! I’m a senior at Auburn and I wanted to tell y’all about a couple of our traditions, too… Of course, the eagle circling the stadium/flying above the crowd is a huge deal, but similar to Enter Sandman, during football games (and now most other sports, due to the popularity) they will play “Swag Surfin’” over the speakers. Everyone will put their arms around each other and lean to the left and right… Seeing all of Jordan Hare Stadium do that is a must-see!! Rolling the trees in TP and drinking Toomer’s lemonade after a big win are some staples as well. Can I get a “war eagle”?
